Pros: High quality construction. Direct print of PDF and photos from USB drive. Wireless is really nice, dont have more wires running about my office.
Cons: None really..
Other Thoughts: After about 100 pages of printing, the magenta toner started to leak and deposit excess toner on the edge of the paper. Contacted Newegg and they said they can only replace the entire product, not indivdual consumables, which what I expected. Next, I contacted Brother, waited about 15 minutes before speaking to TS. They couldn't help me and call was escelated. Brother will replace the cartridge, but I have to provide a serial number from the INSIDE of the printer (the one on the back isnt sufficent) and a 20 digit serial number on the toner. In addition, they want page counts from the printer, then they will send me a new cartridge. In the meantime, I can print, but its annoying to have the blobs show up. Overall, I would say its good tech support and I am pretty happy with my purchase.

Poor quality & TONER HOG

Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: Lots of features
Cons: This printer is set up to help Brother make money on toner. It stops printing after the page count for your cartridge is reached. And all three color cartridges expire at the same time. I called Brother and they told me that even with B&W some color toner is used. I open one "empty" cartridge and it still had 50% of it's toner.
Other Thoughts: And the duplexing is not automatic. Each user needs to select it each time they print. I have been unable to make it a default setting.

you can reset "empty" cartridges

Pros: Good black text printing. Color printing is average for a color laser. Construction is very sturdy. Page cost is reasonable - if you reset your cartridges and don't buy new toner every time the printer complains.
Cons: This thing is HEAVY. 64 lbs or so without paper. It shuts down completely when any one of the four toner cartridges exceeds the pre-programmed page count, which is a MAJOR inconvenience if you can't purchase toner locally. I had a presentation to give in the morning, and all of a sudden my printer was feeling needy the night before. Was not good for the gray-to-brown ratio.
Other Thoughts: You can reset the toner cartridges with nothing more than a screwdriver and 10 minutes. There's a plastic gear that tells the printer when the toner is full, and if you reset it yourself the cartridge is good for another cycle of pages. You can get full instructions on several of the replacement toner vendor websites, just skip adding their refill toner. There is more like 4000 pages worth of color ink in there depending on your usage. Doing this cuts the per-page cost to something very reasonable.
