Boost your desktop's audio performance with a sound card from one of the premier names in computer audio: Creative Labs. The Sound Blaster Xtreme Audio sound card is designed to enhance your PC gaming, music, and movie experience, and improve your computer's overall performance. The card’s X-Fi 24-bit Crystalizer will make your game audio more dynamic and realistic while improving both low and high frequencies giving you smoother, cleaner sound!
The card's audio processor with Creative's CMSS-3D technology remixes your stereo audio into surround sound, even through stereo headphones. This is ideal for playing first-person shooters so you can hear your enemies before it’s too late.
Music and movies benefit from Creative's audio technology know-how, too. For enjoying your favorite DVDs, the card is THX certified and can handle DTS and Dolby Digital EX via a free download of Cyberlink PowerDVD software. Simply pop this card into a vacant PCI-card slot in your desktop and you’ll have speaker and headphone connections for stereo to 7.1-channel surround sound.
Pros: -If you're looking for a non X-FI card that uses PCI-e and has optical in/out this is probably the card you want to buy.
Cons: -If you think this is an X-FI card this is NOT the card you want to buy. As previously mentioned in reviews (that I didn't notice at the time of purchase) this card is really a re-branded Audigy. And the worst part is that when you select the item's specs Newegg reports that it's got an X-FI chipset which it indeed does not.

Not a true X-FI card
Reviewed By: Jaiden on 3/1/2008
Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 week to 1 month
Pros: Plenty of connectors, works with a PCI-E slot (so you dont have to worry about taking up regular PCI slots, which are now alot rarer on new motherboards)
Cons: This card is not really an X-Fi card. it's a re-branded Audigy 2SE card that they slapped the x-fi label. It's reprehensible of Creative and the reason i'll probably never buy another creative product again. Those of you looking to get the X-FI card with the high end emu20k1 chipset will find it's not on this card. Also, you cant get drivers for this card anywhere but on the CD it comes with (the creative website doesn't have drivers for it), so dont loose that.
Other Thoughts: This card (Extreme Audio) is confused alot with the Extreme Music card, which is now re-branded the "Extreme Gamer" card because it worked so well in gaming (due to the x-ram and emu20k1 chipset). Creative is banking off of this confusion to push alot of low-end sound cards at a cheaper price to folks who got confused between the variations of the high-end x-fi lineup (like myself). I hate to give a bad review on newegg for a product (since this website is awesome) but i want to warn folks off of this scam from creative.

Pros: good sound quality, has the hd audio connector for front panels, a diagram and stuff on the software and the paperwork of how to plug in all the speakers for surround sound (2.1,4.1,5.1,7.1), pcix1 port
Cons: the sound was good but it would like "pop" when windows made a noise (when it shuts down or boots up) until i installed the drivers from the CD

A huge Sigh....

Pros: Pci-Express sound is nice when it actually works. This is more of a beta card then an actual release. Read below.
Cons: Where do i start? As others have said most of the crashes are because of this thing. As soon as i turn on onboard sound on my X58 and remove the card, all crashes disappear. Second, Bordering on false advertisement, Creative's latest X-Fi isn't an X-Fi at all, it's a new rev of the Audigy series using the X-Fi drivers and gliding on the PCI Express bus. The EAX gaming enhancements are gone as well as well.
Other Thoughts: don't let the skillfully androgynous chick on the box fool you.
