Are you serious about your audio editing? Do some work on the MIDI bus? The Quartet audio interface distributed by Auzentech just might be what you're looking for.

Four channels of twenty-four bit audio, sampled at one hundred ninety-two kiloHertz are just part of the story here. Sure, it has uses Crosslatch quarter inch phone jacks for reliable connection, and it has a microphone preamp that supports +48VDC “phantom power”. It has a direct Instrument Input and a dual headphone amplifier. It also has a MIDI interface for controlling your MIDI devices. Optical SPDIF output with protective shutter, 113 dB dynamic range on the ADC and 115 dB signal to noise ratio on the AD/DA converters give clean sound.

Set up that small recording studio you've always wanted, but without killing your budget. Just remember that when your first hit single comes out or you win that Oscar, we want an autograph!

1 out of 5 eggsUseless

Pros: None. Too light to be a doorstop, can't double as a toaster.

Cons: Unit simply does not work. Dead silence no matter what setup I try. Been working with it for a day now and am about ready to send it down the garbage disposal. Avoid this waste of money.

Other Thoughts: Bonus! Includes typical half-baked translation "manual" that pretty much just tells you what stuff is labeled...which in the software is ambiguous and poorly done. If this is such a great card, where's the documentation as to how to actually get it to produce sound and where's a GUI that makes sense?

1 out of 5 eggsReally bad experience

Pros: Nothing really.

Cons: Too much mids in the sound, didn't even come with it's own EQ, but lots of other useless garbage. The sound quality had so many glitches. I needed to purchase other parts to make it work. Crashed my computer and had to do system restore. Contacted the manufacturer but they didn't even respond. I will be returning this piece of junk.

Other Thoughts: I should have stuck with Sound Blaster.

5 out of 5 eggsSimply Awesome

Pros: Cleanest sound for the money, biggest bang for the buck. Balanced 1/4-inch connections, can re-direct channel outputs of 1/2 into 3/4 with one mouse click so you don't have to disconnect your main speakers if plugging in your headphones at the same time. This card drives my Beyer's and Sennheiser's better than my dedicated headphone amp. Full 64-bit driver support from the manufacturer.

Cons: None.
