4 out of 5 eggsSounds Good

Pros: Good price and features. Coaxial audio (S/PDIF) output.

Cons: It does indeed make a small popping sounding during the loading of XP- not a big problem particularly if the volume is turned down on the speakers (mine are Bose Companion 2's) when I boot up. I probably would not have noticed it if I hand't read the review that complained about it. Also, I do have one instruction dvd that will crash if I FF the video/audio under XP (the "serious error message" came back saying it was the sound card driver. When I tried doing the same thing using Vista on the same machine it did not crash.

Other Thoughts: Aside from the comments mentioned above, I'm happy with the card- I needed a coaxial SPDIF output and this works fine, though you need to turn it on "dashboard" for the card- pretty straightforward. No problems with the install off the CD. WINDVD software that comes with it is basic and won't allow the SPDIF to be switched on.

3 out of 5 eggsHummm

Pros: Sounds great!

Cons: Anytime I boot the speakers pop, then whenever I shutdown this too occasionally happens. Could it be a power surge and therefore possibly damage my speakers? Really annoying to find this on any soundcard!

Other Thoughts: Humm, features are good. The XP menu they have is pretty lame but the Vista one is nicer. I just hope it's not gonna damage my speakers over time because it pops.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat card, bad support.

Pros: The card works great with the right drivers.

Cons: SPDIF didn't work out of the box with the Vista drivers from the SIIG site. A few emails to tech support got me an answer that SPDIF output wasn't full supported. I knew this wasn't right so I installed the easy to find, open source C-Media drivers and it works fine.

Other Thoughts: Awesome card for the price. I could have got a cheaper one but SIIG has always made good products from my experience. This was the first time I ever needed any technical support from them and probably the last time. Google was more help.

Pros: Does the job it was ment to do. Simple instalation. Works well as an alternative to on board sound.

Cons: Had a few issues with the media player that was provided with the card not wanting to add files already on my system.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: this device has pretty good sound quality, and lots of features ,very easy to use to control panel.

Cons: 1- after installing the thing, my primary sound bay device stopped outputting sound, i looked for hrs on the knowledge base and other websites for a way to fix that, found alot of drivers people had made downloaded them and used them, they didn't help. to this day im still searching for a way to fix it.

2 - i tried to use some ports for my speakers and other for my headset, but the control panel didn't let me do that.

3 - my monitor only has one speaker in it so i put in the right mode ( i forgets its name) i also used other modes to try and fix this problem. the sound would go very low and then rise very high (in that order) very annoying. i looked for a driver to fix it

Other Thoughts: (watch for an audio in plug on your sound cards, i think that hardware piece would be a redflag for card without this problem)

out the knowledge base i couldn't find any drivers for it, and those drive in the knowledge mostly lead to other websites, very annoying and confusing, most of those websites weren't easy to use and real pain to look threw.

out of the drivers that i could find, i don't know what the deal is but they either failed to run, or didn't do anything.

i rebooted my computer over 20 time checking if that was needed to use them. oh be careful some are malware my scanner found it during a search before i undid the drvers.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Works great with my MythTV HTPC. The drivers were detected and installed automatically. Been working for a month with no problems.

Cons: Wish it had optical output.

Other Thoughts: I am just using the spdif output to get dolby/dts surround passthrough. No experience with the analog output.

1 out of 5 eggsSpend a few $ more & get a good card!

Pros: It passes sound through...I guess it's got that going for it.

Cons: Hasn't once passed through a DD or DTS signal. Has a very strange echo/concert hall effect to it. Tried 3 different drivers. Just a piece of junk!!!

3 out of 5 eggsSolid, but with numerous shortcomings

Pros: Well it does work, and has a lot of cool features. It's cheap. Does what most people would buy it for very well.

Cons: First, I have a big case, and I actually had to CUT part of the card off for it to fit in the PCI slot.

Secondly, The drivers were stupidly hard to install. The CD would NOT play and I had to take the files off and copy it to the hard drive to work.

Last, these have some sort of stupid lockout that is making it impossible to do what I was intending to do with these, which is buy splitters to connect various surround sound systems as I had been able to do very successfully with my previous cards. MORE THAN 8 SPEAKERS WILL NOT PLAY ON THIS CARD, PERIOD.

Other Thoughts: DO NOT USE THIS CARD FOR SPLITTING AUDIO SIGNALS TO VARIOUS SOUND SOURCES, IT WILL NOT WORK IF THE TOTAL EXCEEDS 8.

5 out of 5 eggsSuper Value

Pros: Price, quality, sound quality, warranty, features, works in Linux, very well packaged for price paid.

Cons: No, not at this price

Other Thoughts: I tried this card on both Windows 98 and Linux and it works great on both. Very easy to install and setup. It's truly like night and day over onboard sound! I am very happy I bought this card, it is well worth it.
