5 out of 5 eggsHow to unslow LR or Photoshop

Pros: Great overall software...

Cons: If your machine isn't properly configured it is slow as molasses... LR and the rest need special feeding and are great pieces of software with a lot of study and tutorials. Scott Kelby has a lot of tutes and of course Adobe...

Other Thoughts: I saw that review that called LR slow. ALL Adobe products demand the fastest of hardware setups with a little bit of Adobe understanding. I don't want to insult high end guys, but a lot of our arty brothers don't have a hardware fetish. Lightroom, Photoshop, etc. demand that as a minimum for XP at least 2Mb RAM and a second hard drive. Now, if you want to really get in the game you install Windows 7, 64 bit with as much RAM as you can afford. Do not overlook that second HD. You put your "Scratch disk", "Page file" and anything else that is dynamic, you can move off of your primary drive to the second data disk and watch your speed climb. Good idea for gaming also. A primary SSD, etc is icing on the cake. But you will get nowhere with lo-RAM and no second HD. Do not skip the second HD. Even a refurbished IDE 7200 rpm will give you a bigger speed increase with Photoshop than a new processor. I still see and hear folks that do not understand Photoshop's needs who accept a slow Adobe insta

1 out of 5 eggsSLOW and it auto-imports ALL of your photos

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Slow, pretty much sucks. My wife wanted something quicker / easier than Photoshop but this is not it.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect editing software

Pros: I've decided to write a review of Lightroom 3, seeing as there is only 14 total reviews aside from this one now.

This program is completely amazing. It does everything you need and more for your photos. There are so many different ways to edit them, and so many features that it's definitely the best editing software out there.

- Imports photos, and can have separate catalogs.

- Automatically opens when memory stick/usb/cd or other devices containing photos attach to the computer. (you CAN shut this feature off.)

- Some aesthetic features for personal preference.

- Excellent pre-set effects ready to apply to any photo.

- Amazingly simply vignetting.

- Clarity tool works wonders.

- Can right click on an editted photo, and choose to open it directly (with edit-work) in Photoshop. Saves time from having to save the file and open/search for it.

- Basically, all-around amazing. I use Lightroom only for at least 90% of my photos. The other 10% I'll sometimes use Pho

Cons: Basically, not too many.

- It is a little pricey. (Though very-well-worth it.)

- Takes a while to get used to.

- If you don't turn off the auto-import feature it can get annoying at times.

Other Thoughts: This is the photographer's dream of a photo-editting software. Trust me, if you want to make a huge difference in your photographs, this is the software for you!

I did not buy Lightroom from Newegg. I ordered it from Adobe. But it's been extremely amazing. I believe right now, the latest version is 3.4. I started with Lightroom 3, and I see no difference in 3.4. Could be just some minor bug fixes/effect improvements.

This is pretty much the only software for photos I use now-a-days, and has been such for a year now. Occasionally, I will use NIK software (for HDR photography), and Photoshop CS5 here and there. But Lightroom is the program you want, take it from a fellow photographer!

So, what are you waiting for? Buy it! Make your photos better and help support Adobe in their efforts to bring us the best software. Which they have done, time and time again.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I have not installed this yet, due to a potential conflict mentioned below.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: The Adobe website says that Lightroom 3 (LR3) will not convert Photoshop Elements 10 (PE10) catalogs. LR3 is supposed to be able to convert PE9 and earlier catalogs.

5 out of 5 eggsKiller Deal

Pros: Has so many features and integrates perfectly with CS5

Cons: None that I can think of. Cheaper Maybe?

Other Thoughts: Picked it up on black friday shell shocker for 99 bucks so cannot complain

5 out of 5 eggsReal good software

Pros: Great software for quick editing and categorizing photos. Lightroom is software for the pro photographer and probably why it is pricy. But so much of the editing of photos are done with in Lightroom. Seldom have to change program to do more in depth editing.

Cons: Price

5 out of 5 eggsAbsolutely a must have for RAW Photos

Pros: Easily "develope" your images to what seems like perfection immediately your first try. AND...

The more time you are willing to spend, the more treasures are hidden within to tweak good results out of even poor images.

Cons: None. (Wish I had waited for Black Friday at Newegg)

Other Thoughts: If you dont want to learn photo touchup and developement techniques, Lightroom will do much automatically.

If you are an amature (one who loves a non-professional field) or a professional, Lightroom is an absolute must have.

You gotta love Adobe. They are masters in thier field.

4 out of 5 eggsLR-4 may be released Q1-2012

Pros: Excellent price with instant rebate. Fast shipping. Extremely capable product and easier to learn and work with that the full Photoshop CS5.

Cons: Starting to hear rumors about release of CS-6 and LR-4.

Other Thoughts: Many people aren't aware that LR-3 uses the exact same "engine" as ACR-6. Both are excellent. LR-3 can handle PSD files, has better printing, and the Catalogue is superior to CS-5's Bridge. YMMV
