Families rejoice, Microsoft’s Home and Student 2007 can be installed on up to 3 PCs for the same low price. That means everyone in the family gets their own legal copy of the 2007 versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote. The applications are more powerful than ever before with enhanced text effects, improved bullet and numbering stability, SmartArt diagrams and bigger charting and graphics galleries.
The newcomer to this party is OneNote 2007. It's your new digital notebook that lets you gather text, images, audio, video and web clippings on one page to keep your projects better organized than ever before. Just like in a paper system you can categorize things into notebooks, sections and pages.
The new Fluent user interface exposes the most commonly used commands so you can produce high quality documents and spreadsheets even faster than before. The context sensitive Ribbon at the top of the applications displays context sensitive commands so you don’t see commands that you don’t need.

Office guru has it all wrong...
- Pros: Great new user interface.
- Cons: Takes a little getting used to the changes, but it's really not that bad.
- Other Thoughts: Office guru is obviously not really an Office guru. When you save files, the default is in the new format which is not compatible with the previous versions of Office. If you want it to be though, all you have to do is check the little box on the save as dialog that says to save files compatible with Office 97-2003.
Office Home and Student '07
- Pros: As is to be expected, Word and Excel and PowerPoint are shinier in this newest edition for PCs, and do have useful new features. Word in particular is more comfortable to use than older versions have been.
The big - and pleasant - surprise for me here has been Microsoft OneNote. It's a light-weight app that allows quick note taking on the fly, yet has robust organization and writing features. Texts can be organized into "notebooks" and "pages" and such if you'd like, which is very convenient. It has several very...nifty..features such as a hot-keyed screen-capture feature for saving specific sections of your screen. It can also lift text from scanned papers and business cards, which is really nice. Another simple but brilliant feature is that you can click and type anywhere on the screen without adding spaces. Oh, and everything saves automatically.
Anyone that hasn't ever used OneNote is in for a great surprise.
- Cons: Well, it IS Microsoft, and it DOES cost money, unlike free alternatives. But to be honest...it is better than those alternatives. Surprisingly, a lot better.
- Other Thoughts: Please, know what you are getting:
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote.
Anyone that leaves a review that they are unhappy that this version lacked specific features they wanted should have looked at other versions of this product and got the proper one for their needs.

Good software
- Pros: The usual solid MS Office programs. Good price.
- Cons: Does not include Outlook. MS has a bad habit of putting default settings in that no one would want and then making it difficult to find out how to change them. One example:
The Word program is set to always double-space lines. You have to get into the templates to fix this.
- Other Thoughts: Ribbon system is hard to get used to and I do not see it as an improvement. Still this is the best office software you can buy.
OneNote on Tablet is awesome!
- Pros: 3 PC license. Use the pen to write notes and OneNote automatically recognizes the first line and names the tab. It will even catch spelling errors at the same time. When you're ready to turn it into something typed just send your hand written notes to Word and it loads it recognizes virtually everything written and spell checks it for you.
- Cons: It is best to turn of multi touch or you end up at 350% magnification after 10 minutes of note taking (multi detects the palm and pen and certain letters tell it to zoom in or out or scroll, etc).
- Other Thoughts: I've used all the Office products at work since 1996 but never tried OneNote until now.
Nice
- Pros: Easy of use, menu layout makes options easy to see and find
- Cons: Having to download templates.
