4 out of 5 eggsthis and WIN 7 too!

Pros: Installed with no problems. Contacted Microsoft and there is no worries about getting WIN 7 for free with this edition of Windows Vista.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: none

2 out of 5 eggsDissappointing Experience

Pros: Slick interface, supports my 8Gb RAM, DirectX 10

Cons: Randomly freezes requiring reboot
Usually freezes when I plug in USB
Resource hog
Takes a while to figure out where Microsoft hid various OS options to make things work right.

Other Thoughts: I've run both XP and Ubuntu on this machine without freezing issues. I got Vista so that I could run 8Gb of RAM while still having driver support and support for games. I've noticed I've been using my computer less and less for non-web / gaming applications just because it's usually a headache to undo Microsoft's "process automation" or I wind up repeatedly rebooting when I try something new. I think I'm going to try to track down a copy of XP 64, so my computer is still useful. I cannot recommend this product.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat OS

Pros: Have not had any issues, love 64-bit.

Cons: I-d-i-o-t-s complaining about Vista! Do some research before you buy anything! Vista was a major change in a few areas, sound being one of them and this was the first mainstream 64-bit OS (hardly anyone used 64-bit XP).

Other Thoughts: I waited until SP1 was integrated into Vista before I purchased, and will do the same with Windows 7, well as long as the classic start menu is there! Search! Duh! I know whats on my PC I put it there!

4 out of 5 eggsVista is not a failure

Pros: Despite what people tend to say about Vista, it has PLENTY of great features, especially in the interests of security. UAC does get a little annoying, but once you get everything installed, it quiets down quite a bit because in your normal day to day tasks you aren't opening up control panel and such. Overall it is a big improvement, but has gotten bad press because of its few faults.

Cons: The only real complaint I have about Vista is that it is a bit of a resource hog, especially on older hardware.

Other Thoughts: If you are building a new machine, go for Vista, you get a free upgrade to Win7 from Microsoft anyway. If you are on a bit of an older machine, wait for Win7 to come out. It is a lot more lean and tuned than Vista in most users' experiences.

5 out of 5 eggsIt DOES have the free upgrade

Pros: Great OS. This is the retail version and DOES have the free upgrade to Windows 7. However, it does not come with a coupon, because the way you do the upgrade is through Microsoft Website. Read Other Thoughts...

Cons: none, maybe networking - always seems to be finicky though!

Other Thoughts: The OEM version comes with a coupon because its for system builders. This version is the retail version, same as if you bought it at a retail store.

To get the free upgrade, you go to the Microsoft site, put in your key and proof of purchase, and you will get the upgrade for cost of shipping (about $10) when it comes out.

I called Microsoft to confirm this and they said YES, its just like buying it from a regular retail store like Best Buy and qualifies for the free upgrade through the MS website.

The coupon that comes with the OEM version is a different way to get the free upgrade - two different ways depending on how you purchased the software.

5 out of 5 eggsLove it!

Pros: Fast Delivery, Easy and fast to install, Comes with 2 versions, 32 bit or 64 bit. Why anyone would running Ultimate with 32 bit processors is beyond me. It's far less buggy and more accepting of older hardware than Vista Home Premium.

EASY TO USE. If you have trouble using this OS, stop using computers and pick up different hobby.

Cons: The case is over elaborate and unnecessary. It took me several minutes just to figure out how to open it without breaking it.

My Radeon 9250 can't be used with Vista and I have to upgrade my video card and to do that I need a new Power Supply, but what else is new. This is just how they do.

Other Thoughts: I've had Vista Home Premium for a year now and decided to go up and get my computers maxed out. Did just that and loving it. Not missing XP at all.

Paid $218.99 with free shipping in mid July 2009.

Pros: Nice Graphic and layout! Very impressed! 64-bit one no problem with 8 gd memory installed.

Cons: Too many Windows Updated! Difficult to use. Do take times to get use it transition from XP to vista! Newegg did great job on shipping BUT I got a broken case when arrived! Cost an egg from Newegg!!!!!!Newegg needs to do improvement by using carton box NOT a flat envelope. I know it was shipped by air BUT please use Carton BOX, please!

Other Thoughts: Get Windows 7!
