5 out of 5 eggscool

Pros: cool features. very pretty, love the 64-bit. very user-friendly from what i can see. installation was easy. recognizes all my memory.

Cons: cant play some 32-bit-only games. the actual size of the operating system is rather large.

Other Thoughts: i actually only got this cause it was the cheapest OS on the egg, so i could install it, then just get W7. but, i have really seen no reason to change yet, im kinda enjoying it.

1 out of 5 eggsOops

Pros: Easy to use.

Cons: Didn't realize upon purchasing it I wouldn't be able to watch DVDs, among other small things they don't include and it cost over $100 to upgrade to the Pro version.

Other Thoughts: Waste of money.

5 out of 5 eggsTips on x64 vosta and win 7 drivers upgrade

Pros: First thing, grab a mini dvd or a blank dvd. then click on computer. click on c drive. then click on show files (if accessible) then go to system32, then burn copies of DRVSTORE , and DriverStore. and then click on SysWOW64. locate drivers, and DRIVERSTORE. burn them also to the dvd. The you got your set of drivers without hassle

Cons: wished I would have learned this a long time ago, heheheh

Other Thoughts: Experience is the greatest teacher in Life. We all live and learn. Vista UAC can be turned off. Its highly recommended to visit a site to tweak UAC and then have it turned off if you are used to xp. But the security features are useful in vista to prevent infection. this is a plus.

5 out of 5 eggsVista X64 Home basic

Pros: works well in my Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop. I like the x64 environment. I will not go back to the 32 bit anytime soon. I am way too spoiled on this version of windows vista home basic x64. Its reliable, plus it supports large amounts of ram.

Cons: No aero support, windows flip not included, fancy things in ultimate missing. what to expect, you get what you paid for, nevertheless, you will have to use this for basic searching and surfing on the net and checking emails, that is about it. Oh by the way, you will have to load your own codecs that you will be needing to watch movies and etc. This is the only downside I can think of.

Other Thoughts: Never have any problems with this system. Its highly recommended if you need a budget system. My laptop setup is, Dell Inspiron 1525, with T4200 core 2 duo, 4096mb (4 gb) of ram, and a small 160 gb hard drive. With a standard dvd burner. Loaded with Vista basic x64, oxygen office, infera burner x64, eraser x64, perfect disk x64, and most of all webroot spysweeper security essentials. Never have any problems with this system. Its highly recommended if you need a budget system. If you want more features of vista, then go shell out extra $$$$. Otherwise this version is good enough for what I need it to do

4 out of 5 eggsOk .. but just get home Premium

Pros: Cost was right. Works as expected

Cons: Just get the premium version. The missing DVD player codec alone is worth the extra $$. Easy enough to fix but why bother when it is already included with Vista Premium.

Other Thoughts: No upgrade to WIN 7 with this version. Customer wanted this and now wants DVD software. No bigge but easier to just buy the premium version for 10 or so more. Not knocking the software but why MS does not include DVD player in this version is beyond me.

1 out of 5 eggsPiece of Junk

Pros: OS

Cons: Applications crash constantly. Little support for 64bit Vista. Ram hog. Audio bugs and glitches.. jitter jitter. Audio applications freeze and lock often. Boot file has gone missing 3 times in the last 6 months. Large updates daily. 3rd party developers will tell you 64bit vista is a piece of junk and to install XP to properly run their software.

Other Thoughts: Windows 7 is essentially the same thing as Vista without all the permission obsession. I feel like microsoft ripped me off on this one. Honestly, i'd like to take a bat to Bill Gates' head.

5 out of 5 eggsNot as Badd as I thought!

Pros: Stable, Great , Quick Load, DX10 not as bloated as Ultimate!
From all the reviews this was the scariest purchase I've ever made. But It runs Just fine on my set up. It loads very fast and It Pretty stable from what I've seen. Also the new Visuals on this OS are way better the XP lots of eye candy!
Home Run Vista Score For PC 5.9

Cons: Uses 35 to 30% of RAM just sitting Idle. But I knew that ahead of time so I prepared for it! Not enough to take an egg for it.

Other Thoughts: Do some research don't by this OS expecting to put it on an old computer and have it run stable. This OS is for 64bit. It also is for the 64bit world. Not for the old 32bit world. Even the 32bit version of this OS should be run on a higher class 64 bit system. Things change in the computer world very fast. You can't expect everything to stay slow and for old computers for ever! If you have an old PC or even just a Budget PC stay with XP there's nothing wrong with that. Don't just knock something just because you can't run it. If you want to run Vista Either upgrade or buy new and Do your Research!

3 out of 5 eggsI see nothing wrong here

Pros: I have used this on my mom's desktop. first I installed my laptop dell version of vista on her xp system. Well. It took it all, Then I purchased this 64 bit version to use to install on my laptop with a 32 bit os being removed. I did this using the same key. The price is okay. It depends on the circumstances on the consumer's choice.

Cons: To Cheap on the low end scale. M$ should have done the better job on making new windows like xp. I feel that they need to have one windows with one price instead of 5 to 6 different flavors. This is a bad wayt of doing business.

Other Thoughts: i am waiting to get the Home premium for my lady I am taking care of. I am considering getting an ultimate edition for myself to use for heavy applications. I am giving this 3 eggs because of the label it has. I feel microsoft can do better on marketing instead of making people subscribe to some windows. I feel like its stupid

1 out of 5 eggsAvoid like plague

Pros: Well, it does look good.

Cons: Extremely poorly optimized and unstable, even with SP1. Uses 70% of a 2.3ghz dual core at IDLE. Software compatibility is horrid, and the fraudulent "compatibility mode" would need to improve drastically to be considered a joke. Wine is much better. Basically, you cannot do worse for a OS.

Other Thoughts: Dumped mine for XP, but Microsoft has mandated that hardware manufacturers no longer allow drivers for their hardware to be easily available for XP. So I'm forced to search, endlessly, for the correct drivers to make a legal copy of XP work.
