3 out of 5 eggsBOO MS!

Pros: It has less stuff then Vista which for me is a good thing.

Cons: Had a hard time getting it to configure my on board sound. Worse yet, my printer will not work! I tried all the MS “fixes” and no luck. I have a HP PSC 2410 that worked with XP and Vista. It is really going to be a bummer if I have to buy a new printer.

Other Thoughts: I play games, web surf and write letters using MS Word. At this time Win 7 only does 2 of the 3. I have spent many hours trying to get my printer to work. I think it is absolutely ridiculous that MS can’t something so basic right. Plus I should not have to look for fixes! I am really mad at the thought of having to by a new printer.

5 out of 5 eggsDecent price for decent software

Pros: Nice OS. Works well on an older m700 Dell Laptop.

Cons: Wish it had more legacy support for older graphics chipsets.

4 out of 5 eggsWARNING

Pros: Good software, much better than vista. No complaints about it.

Cons: THIS IS AN OEM VERSION. This means that, if you purchase this for your own use on your own personal computer, you are breaking the EULA. In fact, there is some confusion as to whether or not this version is even supposed to be sold to end users. If you install this and decide to upgrade your motherboard down the line, this version will NO LONGER WORK. YOU WILL HAVE TO BUY ANOTHER COPY OF WINDOWS. NEWEGG DOES NOT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT THIS.

4 out of 5 eggsA Real Step up from XP/Vista

Pros: Very Smooth Install, much better than XP/Vista. Very Stable and Performs Nicely.

Cons: 32bit means it will not recognize more than 3.xxx gig of ram, which is a severe limitation in my book, hence the loss of an egg. Get the 64 Bit version.

Other Thoughts: An older HP scanner would not work with 7 - HP should update their drivers!

1 out of 5 eggsMS Does It Again

Pros: It starts up faster!

Cons: Just Vista without the extras. But has and will have the same problems. I threw it out and went back to "Vista".

Other Thoughts: This program is a rip off. MS will reolace it soon I will bet on that.

3 out of 5 eggsNot bad BUT !

Pros: Way better than vista
I had so much trouble with vista .. i gave the disk away for a case of beer

Cons: Blue screen of death on first new install re-boot .. SIGH !!! .. but it recovered

Other Thoughts: This will be that last Windows operating system that i think i will buy as Linux is starting to look pretty good as a finnished product ...
Anyone thinking about a new O.S for their computer should realy look at the free Linux distros before shelling out your hard coin IMO

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: Fast, more secure, doesn't have the printer compatibility issues that plagued Vista, did a good job circumventing all the annoying security warnings from Vista.

Cons: I have had corrupted user profiles, it rarely happens and rebooting usually fixes it.

Other Thoughts: I never bought Vista, only used it when clients bought new systems at the time with it pre-installed. I personally upgraded from XP to Windows 7 pro. To all you you wary of upgrading to Win7 from XP here's a sign of relief, Microsoft offers a free copy of windows XP to run as virtual machine for everyone who purchased Win7 pro or better. Here is the link to do so: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx
FYI, the virtual machine is 32 bit.
This was a godsend for me since I still work with legacy 16-bit applications, which would not run on Vista or later.
