4 out of 5 eggsGreat Expansion for a Good Game

Pros: The expansion / v2 patch for Diablo 3 really fixed a number of bugs. The auction house was nice -- I think the real issue was how much junk was circulating in the auction house. But Blizzard takes the easiest route, not the best one, and instead of trying to clean up the game's economy (real money or just gold), they nix the whole thing. For better or worse, that's that.

The adventure mode is great, the quests in act five are about 1/4 as much fine as the other four (so, right on par).

Diablo 3 is the successor to the Diablo 2 we all remember and enjoyed, and despite lots of issues out-of-the-gate and some time settling down into a truly playable game, it hasn't really disappointed as much as detractors would have you believe.

Cons: The game could really use more diversity -- more unique dungeons, more side-quests, if you think about other games, there is often much more to do (regardless of whether they are sandbox like Skyrim or non-sandbox like Diablo 3). Most of Diablo 3 revolves around the grind for gear, infernal machines, uber-bosses, etc. I get that and I like it, but for casual or low-level gamers or people looking for a different experience, the development didn't even spring for real cut-scenes! Just 2D still illustrations with narration. Yikes.

Other Thoughts: And of course, I hate that there are such strict limitations on number of characters and stash size. The game cost quite a bit. The expansion cost alot too. The RMAH covered Blizzard's shareholders, money-grabbers, and other costs plenty. I think it's sad that they tell us "sorry we can't store an extra 5 toons each and we can't even give them to you for $3 each or anything." Who are they fooling?

That's just a personal beef because I hate wasting time deleting characters to make new ones, endlessly shuffling items between mules, stash, etc. You can't even give us an "inventory manager" screen that lets us swap items between characters? This is 2014, not 2001.

5 out of 5 eggsCompletely worth it

Pros: This is a great addition to Diablo III.
The extra chapter provides a few more gameplay on "normal", and even longer in the higher difficulties.
Higher grade gear drops much more often and makes you want to keep playing to keep going higher.

Cons: n/a

5 out of 5 eggsDear Blizzard...

Pros: Game is totally revamped. This is so much better than the original Diablo III release. Auction house is gone, which was a TERRIBLE idea to begin with. Loot 2.0 system has made a huge difference, the game is actually fun now. Crusader class is great. This game now reminds me of my Diablo II addiction more and more every day...

Cons: I really don't have any. I'm actually enjoying this game now and logging as many hours as I did with Diablo II. Only time will tell if it holds my interest like Diablo II did...

Other Thoughts: Blizzard, THANK YOU for fixing this broken game. I pre-ordered Diablo III through Newegg, but I got RoS as digital download directly from Battle.net. I was very critical in my Newegg review on the original Diablo III game. The game just wasn't good. Blizzard has made good on this and this now feels more like teh Diablo III that I waited 10 years for.

4 out of 5 eggsMuch Improved over the Original

Pros: -Loot 2.0 is much better than the original game, which was frustrating in that it was difficult to get rare loot and loot that made sense- a crossbow with witch doctor abilites?- , meaning you had to troll the auction house. Now that the auction house has been removed and legendaries/set items drop more often, it's not as frustrating. Item affixes also make sense now (i.e. crossbow with dexterity and critical hit damage) and some pretty snazzy gear is now available for grabs
-Underutilized assets from the original game has been beefed up, with the mystic now allowing you to re-roll item affixes and the blacksmith having an expanded repertoire of legendary and set items you can craft
-Game balance overall has been fixed.
-Still my favorite game to just hop online to just casually hop online and join friend's open quests
-Adventure mode is the #1 big story, as randomized quests means you're never playing repetitively through story mode anymore

Cons: -This is a very pricey expansion, particularly as the original game also received the loot 2.0 system (albeit no adventure mode and no act 5)
-Act 5 wasn't exactly rife with story and didn't offer much variety from the other 4 acts. You do get to explore the backstory of your followers and other surviving characters from the previous acts

Other Thoughts: Overall, a massive improvement from the original Diablo 3 video game- in fact, you could say this is what the game should have been from day 1. I find myself logging online battle.net again to jump into friends games (made easier with their new launch app). Adventure Mode is just a great move, as well as the removal of the auction house.

It's just too bad that Blizzard is asking you to pay $40 for the 'privilege' of them fixing every single one of their mistakes. Newegg's promotional offer on launch did soften the pain quite a bit, as it allowed me to stretch my money to buy some computer upgrades =)

5 out of 5 eggsDear Blizzard...

Pros: No more auction house. Revamped loot system. Additional act. New act has a much darker feel to it. More challange events and boss fights. MUCH more fun than the state of the game pre-Loot 2.0. The Vecin Transmogrifier in town is a nice touch to further customize the attributes and appearance of your gear.

Cons: I preordered a digital copy of this expansion directly through Battle.net, though I had preordered the original game in retail form through Newegg. I was VERY critical of Diablo III in my Newegg review and just in general, overall. One of my all-time faves Diablo finally got a third installment in spite of Blizzard's overly-saturated WoW nonsense. IT'S ABOUT TIME. I was sent a beta key as well. To my dismay, I was VERY unhappy with what I saw in the beta. They at least improved it a bit by the time it went retail, but was still none too pleased with the overall package. That was not the Diablo III I had waited 10 years for. Now, the Loot 2.0 system gives much more intelligent loot drops based on your character class, and with better bonuses. The auction house, which I felt was a blight upon the game from day one, is finally gone. That auction house totally destroyed the spirit of Diablo, so good riddance. The current state of the game is much more like the Diablo III that I anticipated for 10 years. I'm really enjoying the game now and have been logging some serious hours into it since the Loot 2.0 patch was released. Will it be like my Diablo II addiction all over again? Only time will tell. But at any rate, THANK YOU BLIZZARD for fixing this broken game and breathing some new life into it. It was sorely needed since the beta. I look forward to the possibilty of future additional content.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat game, terrible shipping

Pros: The game is fantastic. The Blizz did a great job with loot changes, added new items that are fun, and now end game that will be a while for me to get there. All in all it's 5 star game.

Cons: None for the game, lot's for Newegg and DHL shipping. See other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: The reason i give 3 stars is because of shipping. I pre-ordered this game month in advance (something i typically don't do) expecting to have the game at the release (i mean that's the point of pre-ordering right?). Well it didn't ship until 25th the date when the game came out. DHL did the worst job in tracking the package that i've seen, mostly because it was tied to turtle's back. I haven't received the game until a week after it's release. This is completely unacceptable behavior for pre-ordering the game.

All in all i don't think i'll ever pre-order anything here because of this experience.
