Eleven years ago a horrific fire took Alice's family from her and left her mind horrifically scarred. Afterwards she was confined to Rutledge Asylum, where she struggled to confront her demons by slipping further into her fantasy world of Wonderland. Now, after ten years, she has finally secured her release - yet she still bears the heavy psychological burden of that tragic event. With her mind in tatters, she is unable to resolve the fear prompted by her strange memories, dreams, and visions. Perhaps she'll do better in Wonderland. She always has. She travels there, seeking what the "real" world can't provide: security, knowledge, and the truth about the past. But in her absence, Wonderland too has suffered. Something has gone horribly wrong, and now a great evil is descending upon what once was her beautiful refuge. Can Alice save Wonderland - and herself - from the madness that consumes them both?

5 out of 5 eggsBrilliant!

Pros: -No patches/updates needed that I can see. Game runs great right out of the box unlike many other games. I don't know what role "EA" put into the game, perhaps quality assurance, but most games with EA attachments on the box require little to no updates that I know of, thus part of the reason I brought it.
-Maneuvering Alice is easy and fun, from jumping to floating downwards, it's wonderful. And pretty how butterflies just pop out of her.
-Alice is beautiful! Just watching her hair motion around, even over her face looks beautiful and natural. Her dress too moves with the wind. Alice is what Lara Croft fails to be even to this day. She is the future now.
-Speaking of motions again, Alice runs beautifully as well. Perhaps the folks from Sims2 had something to do with that because the sims in that game looked very natural when running.
-Gorgeous visuals, from the sun glows, floating flowers, to circular rainbow effects around Alice.
-Ability to change difficulty setting while in ga

Cons: None so far. I'm about 1/3 through the game, I think, and can't think of anything negative other than I wish I could maneuver the camera to and back away from Alice with the roll of the mouse well like in the Sims2. Although I can do that to a point by just moving the mouse again, I do wish they added this feature. But perhaps they didn't as it might've interfered with camera motions, I wonder.

Other Thoughts: When playing this game, the first impression I get is that it's put together by serious gamers who appreciate the value of "character motion". Alice is what Lara Croft should've being. Moving her around, jumping from place to place, is a whole lot easier than any game I've ever played. She can motion in mid air and there are no ridiculous camera angles and glitches while doing it. During battles, you can run her towards you to get away from monsters so you don't get killed so easily. And speaking of battles, this is not a kids game. Even though Alice appears to be a teenager, she uses a knife with deadly grace, even beheads some of her opponents. It's not done in a gory manner but you will see them rolling. If you have problems with that then skip this game.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Game !

Pros: If you're a fan of the original then this is a must have 5-STAR game. If you've never played the original then this is a 4 1/2 -STAR must have game.

Cons: I couldn't wait any longer and paid full price.

5 out of 5 eggsBeautiful Sequel

Pros: The original (America McGee's Alice) is one of my all time favorites (although the graphics look pretty clunky by today's standards). I was happy to see that this sequel preserves the demented perspective and mood of the first game, and the added benefit of Physx (for those with an nVidia card) really ups the beauty of the visuals.

Cons: There have been quite a few complaints about the keyboard controls on the PC version, both here and on-line. These are my observations so far (I haven't finished the game):
Umbrella glitch: The trick is to keep the Caps Lock key depressed when hitting the "E" key --- this always brings up the umbrella for me. Just tapping the Caps Lock key won't work. I should note that I haven't remapped any of the controls or modified the .ini file, I'm playing with the defaults.
Battle music persisting: I had this happen to me and I had to start a new game, because rather than fight all the foes I figured I could get away with just running to the next level. This game is not forgiving of such behavior; you have to take care of all business before moving on.

Other Thoughts: The DRM is no big deal, no worse than most other games these days. Internet connectivity is only needed during activation; after that you can play offline if you want.
All-in-all I highly recommend this game, despite the bugs. It's immersive and gorgeous, a great time-waster.

My rig:
Phenom II X 4 955 on an MSI 770-G45 board with 4GB 1333 RAM
EVGA 460 GTX SE graphics card, OC'd
Intel X25-M 120GB SSD
Win7 Home Premium 32-bit
