It is the middle of the 16th century in Medieval Japan. The country, once ruled by a unified government, is now split into many warring clans. The player takes on the role of one Daimyo – the clan leader – and will use military engagements, economics and diplomacy to achieve the ultimate goal: re-unite Japan under his supreme command and become the new Shogun – the undisputed ruler of Japan. Set during the golden age of Samurai warfare, Shogun 2 brings to life the most turbulent period of Japanese history.

The Total War: SHOGUN 2 Limited Edition delivers instant access to exclusive and free content to both the single player and multiplayer modes of the game.

  • newegg Exclusive ninja clan The Hattori clan are masters of the Iga-ryu ninjutsu - a unique collection of martial skills and guerrilla techniques. This additional in-game faction is only available in the Limited Edition and includes the most powerful battlefield ninja units.
  • newegg Extra historical scenario The Battle of Nagashino saw an alliance between the Oda and Tokugawa clans clashing against the legendary Takeda clan in 1575. Takeda was ultimately defeated but, as in all Total War battles, victory lies in your hands and by playing one of these three factions you can repeat history...or even rewrite it!
  • newegg Special armor for your avatar This complete set of armor will make your General's avatar stand out on the battlefield and will reward you with the Bad Omen retainer that affects morale to enemy ashigaru (foot soldier) units, giving you a competitive advantage online.
  • newegg Bank account of XP for your avatar Only the Limited Edition owners will be able to start their General's avatar at a higher level, with instant access to one upgrade point to spend on special skills or traits.

5 out of 5 eggsShogun 2

Pros: Great game, love it. DLC's are great as well.

Cons: nada

Other Thoughts: It's a demanding game... if you have the hardware then crank up the settings. If you don't... well, get better hardware!

5 out of 5 eggsSTEAM

Pros: This is an amazing game the graphics are really fantastic i have steam which is where i pick it up at on sale.So they pre loaded it for me.Seems to always take longer that's the way it is because of pirates stealing their money.SO DON'T BLAME STEAM

Cons: You really need a good high end computer to really get the full end of this game. You can take the resolutions down and it still looks fantastic. It came with all the add on's so it took over 16 hours to load.

Other Thoughts: If you like to play Patton in Japanese this game is for you i really love this game it's been very well put together.the stories are quite unique you can spend a lot of hours on this game i know because now i can speak Japanese .I7 4.0 6950 4g ram work's great.like i said it takes along time to load this so be ready to wait.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Game & Series!

Pros: The game engine is tremendous. I have played everygame in the series starting from the first title Shogun: Total War to Total War: Shogun 2. I have always enjoyed playing each game, my favorite being Empire Total War and Rome Total War each respectively. The game is not only fun but it is VERY educational. The information I have learned from each series is countless. Moreover, the soundtrack for each game is always on point. The development team has made this series a shinning star. Job well done CA & Sega.

Cons: The size of each game. 20 Gb for Shogun 2, Napoleon and Empire each.

Other Thoughts: Get ready to make time for this game.

5 out of 5 eggsIncredible Graphical Game

Pros: This is my second strategy game after Company of Heroes that I would say "It seriously simple to play" the game never put me into headache. Multiplayer always give me a goosebumps, because sega didn't create lvl barrier (for me it pretty good). Facing all kind of challenge is the answer of the real world strategies.

Cons: You got to be freaking kidding me.

Other Thoughts: I have read several review about this product. Some people that complain about this game, mostly is from their own fault not the game fault at all. Seriously people, before buy something please check the product detail clearly before you buy it. I check product detail for month I buy it (including this game). And just to be honest to the review I didn't work for Sega or Steam, just to be clear.

1 out of 5 eggsMake it stop...

Pros: I've heard it's a great game.....

Cons: Interesting so many reviews pointing out how the 20 gig download from Steam is required, game continually crashes, can't get it to play at all - but they rate it 4 or 5 eggs? Finding it hard to understand that This version has wasted days of my time. The game is not being sold as a Steam product to begin with. We have very limited internet out here, Steam half the time came up as unavailable but after 4 ' days managed to download the file required...and still doesn't work. 3 days later, re-loaded it. Game *works? constant crashes when playing on or offline. the game looks awesome and has great ideas, but how will I ever know? Did I mention zip for support from Steam or Sega? Had the first incarnations of Shogun, loved them when they were playable, but shogun.icd was a constant problem.. please...just make it stop.

5 out of 5 eggsWhat Great Game

Pros: The Japanese island is a great map size for this type of game. Large enough that you don't necessarily see it all the first time you play it, but not so large like in Empire Total War. Fun units, sounds, animations are top rate. Tech trees are interesting and allow you to advance quite a bit, but not out of control like some other games (Age of Empires, Civ Series, etc.). Battles are what it's all about, defense missions are my absolute favorite. If you can get the AI to attack you when you are hunkered down in a well defended fortress or stronghold, there is nothing more fun than reigning down volleys of deadly arrows on their advancing hoards. I have ~240 hours logged according to Steam (sheepish grin)

Cons: Slow load times. Game crashes during later stages of campaign, save often.

Other Thoughts: I have been playing the "Rise of the Samurai" Campaign, and it's a blast with all new units and graphics. It's almost like playing a completely new game, I highly recommend it as well, and you can buy it on sale for around $5.

3 out of 5 eggsnot too bad

Pros: -Kinda neat to pick up on the feudal Japanese culture traits this game throws around.
-Provides a unique mix of different genres: RTS, Civ building, and RPG.
-Units gain XP and level up. Generals & agents gain perks as they level up too.

Cons: -Steam required
-controls aren't the best and take some getting used to.
-game is fun, but has a tendancy to get stale and dull from how repetitive it is. Especially end game where everyone hates you and diplomacy doesn't work anymore.
-not nearly as 'historically accurate' as fans or CA themselves claim Shogun 2 is.

Other Thoughts: Bought on sale. Game was a pleasant surprise. The only other Creative Assembly game I've played was Stormrise which is maybe the worst game I have ever played ever. Can't comment on the on-line mode, not interested in it anyway. This is also my first experience with Steam and I don't see the point of selling physical media when the installer begins downloading the game through steam & you can't play without being connected. But thanks to a large group of self entitled thieves who don't believe in paying for software, I understand why its like this.
