Prey tells the story of Tommy, a Cherokee garage mechanic stuck on a reservation going nowhere. Abducted along with his people to a menacing mothership orbiting Earth, he sets out to save himself and his girlfriend and eventually his planet.

Built on an enhanced Doom 3 engine, the most impressive 3D engine used in a released game.

Portal technology adds a new dimension to gameplay, allowing enemies to appear out of thin air and create new and completely original puzzles and gameplay styles.

Several never-before-seen gameplay elements such as Spirit Walking, Wall Walking, and Deathwalk.

Highly organic, living environment that itself can attack Tommy.

A deep, emotional story of love and sacrifice.

Tommy has a sidekick, a spiritual hawk that can help him fight enemies and decipher the alien language of the living ship.

Multiplayer game support that takes advantage of the unique gameplay styles in Prey.

5 out of 5 eggsPrey Review

Pros: Overall good game. Graphics are decent and it has a fairly good storyline.

Cons: No consequences for dieing. Not really a con but I felt unchallenged. I was able to play carelessly without consequence.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this game. It is well worth the $5 price tag. Good game to kill some time.

3 out of 5 eggsTime filler

Pros: Game seems fairly solid and has good gameplay for just a straight linear shoot 'em up FPS.

Cons: Its plays like an engine showcase shooter. The engine is good, but the artwork I found unpleasant and hard on the eyes. I know there's a horror aspect, but I mean with that in mind.

5 out of 5 eggsWork fine on vista

Pros: wasnt sure it would but the grapics are amazing so much better than the 360 version if you love the game get it its worth it

Cons: none really

Other Thoughts: if you have a new computer maybe it will even play on some onboard graphics too that being said i was able to play bioshock with ati radion 3200 integrated without a problem even though it ran better but yeah thats besides the point its really damanding for the older computers but todays should play fine without a problem

5 out of 5 eggsPretty darn good game

Pros: This is a scripted first person shooter, with good graphics and an interesting story. In many ways, it's much like FEAR, but with aliens and a lot more puzzles. Prey adds a native american / spiritual / supernatural element. Also, this game is much "freakier" than FEAR.

I like the way that this game uses gravity in different ways. Also, the alien ship is cool, with humans being used as zombies and slaves.

Watching grandpa get turned into nutritional sludge was cool too. This is a really really weird game.

I seriously laughed out loud when I was in the alien ship and found the radio station playing Art Bell's AM radio program!

Cons: OK, this is a minor pet peeve of mine... Similar to Bioshock, when you die the game allows you to "respawn" rather than going back to your last saved game point. This is a con for me because I feel that the point of any FPS is finding the best strategy for staying alive (using available cover, using the correct weapon for the job, being smart, etc.). If the game allows you to die every 5 seconds without any penalty, then why even try to stay alive? This game (and some others) allow you to blunder your way through the game. Some might see this as a "pro"...

The very beginning is a little slow, but once you've been sucked into the alien ship it starts to get interesting.

There may be times that you will not know what to do, or where to go. Follow the bird and don't forget that you can leave your body behind.

Other Thoughts: I know that most people want to play the high profile games (Call of Duty, Bioshock, FEAR, etc.). That's fine, but what do you do while waiting for the next big game title to be released? Check out the bargain bin, of course! Prey is a great example of a game that did not get the high profile publicity, but is still worth playing - especially for the super cheap price today!

5 out of 5 eggsWow, only $6

Pros: Under $6 and free shipping. I thought about buying this game when it first came out, in a way I'm glad I waited. Great graphics for the year it came out and decent storyline. About time a decent game came out with indians and no cowboys.

Cons: Downloaded the game and was getting ready to start it, blue screen. Wouldn't work. What to do. Happend right from the start. Went directly to the Prey website. Had 4 patches. Downloaded all 4 patches, and go figure. It works now. Was made for older hardware and updated for newer ones. Didn't work till the 4th patch was installed.

Other Thoughts: Definatley a Doom feel. I like those. And how often do you see yourself get ubducted by aliens. He wanted off the reservation, and he got his wish. lol
My system specs

Antec 900 Case
amd 6400x's 2
asus crosshair 2 mb
Nvidia 280 GTX
8 gigs Mushkin 800 due to cpu limitations(1066 w/ quad)
Sound card that came with MB
WD 620 HD 7200
Athena 950Watt PS
Vista 64bit
Death adder mouse
Tarantula KB
Barracuda headset

For the price, it's great, don't compare graphics like some do to current games, of course they will be diisapointed. Have to realize they get better every year. I still think the graphics are great, espeacially for the time the game came out. Kudos to 2K Games

4 out of 5 eggsBetter then the price

Pros: American Indians laying waste to aliens. Engaging save the girl story line. Decent Graphics and Sound. Your characters commentary through out the game has a duke nukem feel to it. Some puzzles are awesome. Little Girl freaks you out!

Cons: Comes on CD-Rom so you end up doing the disc swap thing during install (not really too bad but I haven't had to do that in a while). Does not support wide screen resolutions. The first part of the game feels really slow. Some of the puzzles feel pointless as they entail pressing the E key then walking a few feet to press a button on a console in game.

Other Thoughts: Once you get past the first 20 min of this game its worth the 6 bucks and then some.
