5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Rift is very strong with PvE. The raiding is very fun, but limited to 10 to 20 man. The world/zone events are even better, they reminded me of old EQ days when there are a few hundred people working together at a GM event. The graphics are very good for an MMO. Also they added Conquest and are coming out with an Expansion soon. So, Trion is working hard to keep content fresh.

Cons: PvP is annoying. Since they have both PvE and PvP gear, you can just grind out PvP get to match high-end raid gear.

Other Thoughts: I have been playing for over a year and had enjoyed every month of it.

I do get lag with very intense moments of PvE and PvP. So I will update my graphics card when I get the chance.

Running on Ultra settings with:
- AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE
- Corsair 8GB RAM
- Galaxy GTS 250

5 out of 5 eggsNeeds a bit of work.

Pros: The graphics are beautiful. Not Crysis graphics. But still amazing.
The class(soul) system is amazing also. The diversity. You can tank as a cleric, a rogue, or warrior. Heal as a cleric, a rogue, or a mage. The invasions. Grinding through quests. Suddenly you see the sky burst into flames 'The plane of Fire walks upon Telara!' you hear. Monsters spawn. Rifts open. You're running to the nearest quest hub to rally everyone to the rifts. Then the World Boss comes out. Everyone is crowded around the boss working more or less in unison. I recommend.

Cons: Sometimes the quests can get old. Not to bad though. The invasions are cool, but they can disrupt your quests.

Other Thoughts: All in all, Rift is a great game. In fact, I got the Collectors Edition for $10 during a sale! Sure, there are some bad parts, but the game was just released in February of 2011 (I know, its been in Beta for a while).

4 out of 5 eggsFun Times With Weapons

Pros: Lots of options for doing battle even in the beginning. Leveling is fairly quick - no hassle and if it starts to feel like a grind; fight a rift. The rifts are amazingly fun and reward useful loot. PvP battlegrounds are really fun even for a beginner-you wont die constantly. Character customization is nice to play with and there is still a distinct look to the different races. For the most part the artwork is amazing and has a similar look to the surreal parts of the movie The Cell. The flexibility of creating your own playing style using the soul talent tree is great if you know what you are doing and you can still follow suggestions if you are still learning your class.

Cons: The soul talent tree can be so varied it can take longer to really learn what you are doing with it. The other side of the artwork is that it looks similar to Runes of Magic in some ways.
Oh and I can't find any addons lol

Other Thoughts: There are nice people and there are asssclowns just like in wow.

3 out of 5 eggsNot a Rift Off

Pros: Similar to WoW

The events here are something worth mentioning. NPC raids and rifts keep the game fun and new, lets you get away from quests.

No real grinding required to level

Cons: Similar to WoW

A little to easy to level for my liking. Level 35 of 50 within 1 month and not extensively played (girlfriend would beg to differ).

Other Thoughts: Another MMORPG that will keep you interested for the next 6months to a year. Don't know what end game play is like, but hopefully fun.

I still looking for that H0ly Grail of MMORPG's that made life awesome. Something like Asheron's Call (the first one of course, not that cr4p they labelled the second one)

5 out of 5 eggsRift game

Pros: From late Beta when I joined, until after pre-release and public release, this game has had VERY LITTLE down time compared to most "launch" games. The graphics are better than most every other MMO on the market. The "immersion" factor is top notch and likely giving the other "monster" games a run for their money.

Cons: Not really a con, but deserves to be separated out.

Controls are similar to both WOW and EQ. So much so, there really is very little to learn by way of starting a brand new game and learnign controls.

Other Thoughts: This game came out during the PERFECT STORM. Gamers tired of the old redo's, support from the big companies nearly non-exsistant and the longing for something "new" to get into. And it hit every nail squarely on the head. I know previous reviewers complained about the community, however, I have to disagree with them to an extent. EVERY BRAND NEW GAME is hard to get community support when every other question is "tell when what the best set up is". Learn the game yourself, research your class and its capabilities. Do this, and literally, the world will open up to you.

Strive to be a cookie-cutter, and your no better than everyone else.

1 out of 5 eggsIt had a lot of promise, but it fell too short

Pros: Good interface, I found out why it is a good interface, but that will be in cons.

Graphics were ok, I mean they are using an engine that was top notch in 1998-2000. Some textures look really good, but at times it does tend to glitch out in some places.

Cons: The story feels like it came after the idea of the Rifts, the story feels like it came out of a children's Medieval fantasy book. Which for a MMO is a bad thing. I still don't even have a firm grasp on whats really going on.

Spec system is far too large and filled with a ton of unless stuff. Many spells and choices don't mix with each other. Not to mention I have felt many balance issues. And surprise people are all using the OP choices. What's the point in choice when you still get the same cookie cutter builds they are just hidden within a bunch of subpar choices. My next biggest issue is. Mage's are NOT healers, anyone that knows anything knows Mage's and cleric/priests don't even study in the same arts at all. This happens with each class. Specially since any class can do anything
Interface was taken from WoW, good going, at least other MMO Dev's can come up with something original.
Rift's are like Warhammer public quests, just worst, because they get boring really easily.

Other Thoughts: Me and a few friends took part in the beta late, but ended up winning a copy of the game. So we were like, "Ok let's give this a shot". We somehow made it through the grind and the Rift's that stopped other leveling process and made it to max level.
I dont like the Dunegeon Design, being someone who has played games like DDO I like interesting and complex dungeons, this game lacks them.
My main problem is with the Rift's as other reviewers have said, at some points in the day the rifts stay open for long periods of time. A few times I have logged in I have had to log right off because a rift is open in the area I am at and I dont have the time to do what I wanted to do after it's closed, which is annoying.
The grind is TERRIBLE, I have to say where other games have made the grind fun this game has not.
Overall, I think I can thank the game for making me want to play WoW, since I was told it basically was a clone, and now that I have played for a week, I agree. Rift's a bad clone th

5 out of 5 eggsRift

Pros: The game has one word..Immersion. When a rift starts or an invasion happens you either run or get ready for a throw down. The graphics best of MMO's.The crafting is fun, the quest lines are very interesting. I've RPGed since the 90's. These guys have a winner on their hands. I Love it!

Cons: Mobs knock you off the ride way to easy and some areas tuff to solo

Other Thoughts: This is baby MMO they just started. If its this good to start i cant wait to see what they do next.

1 out of 5 eggsWas hoping for something different than what it ended up being.

Pros: Upperscale graphics compared to other MMO's. Actually seemed like they unfilled a promise most MMO companies fail to do. However they ARE NOT up to Crysis level. My computer can run this fine but would explode with Crysis level graphics. (However I am gonna assume what the other person said the engine was. No idea if it's true though. Seen them post a few times on computer parts though so I am gonna assume they know what they are talking about when it comes to tech.)

Soul system is kinda unique. Pretty sure I saw another game attempt something similar (I can't remember for the life of me though :( )

Cons: I know MMO communities tend to be shattered and ungodly. But at times people are completely unhelpful and act like they are PROS at the main and demand to be treated as such. Getting useful information is like pulling teeth sometimes.
No third party support. Yes the UI is kinda neat, but honestly in other MMO' I always loved they seemed to care about the community and let them .
I don't know what to really think of the Rifts, they seem to be more of a issue at sometimes than they are worth when you don't want a lot of time to play. I could hop on and hope to finish say a quest, but only find out the area is currently over run. It seems to be a little annoying if your looking to do something simple for a brief time period.
My server has been getting annoying hackers! Ugh, I know they have been working on it, but serious its rather annoying.
I don't know, but the classes seem to be a bit broken at times? I can get something that let's me have pets, yet can't summon both at the same

Other Thoughts: As for what I have read here and in the other Rift reviews. I am sad to see Newegg doesn't mod these reviews anymore. Some people have posted insane comments such as the one below. People arent entitled to be mad they got a game they ended up not liking at all? Oh noes, they are suddenly Rift's competitors spamming with negative ads. Please, get a grip people, that's insane. The immature bashing of the negative reviews just shows the class of people playing this game. Guess what it shows none of us as verified owners of Rift, with the line of thinking from the idiot below, we may as all be working for "Rift" or some "shady company"
I'd love to see an competitor with WoW, because that's a good thing, because it ends up making both products better. But these immature people posting reviews to the point one posted here AND there. Just shows you the length these "anti-other MMO's" people will go just to boost the rating of a game. I one egged, because I didn't like the game, pure and sim

5 out of 5 eggsVery Enjoyable MMO

Pros: Very polished game from the get-go. I'm level 25 (half way to the cap) and there has been no gaps in the questing and no need for any grinding whatsoever

The community thus far has been awesome. Great teamwork in dealing with Rifts as well as very helpful people when the need arises for groups quests.

Graphics are seriously up to par with Crysis. You may need a superb machine to get these results but chances are if you are a newegg user, you have said machine.

I haven't ever played an MMO for 3 weeks straight that hasn't crashed once, lagged even a little bit, nor had a single glitch until now. I'm truly shocked... The game is solid. Amazing job by the creators and developers.

I love games that you can jump in for an hour or two, get your fill and then be done, it doesn't stress you out to play, which sadly a lot of MMO's today do. Nor does it leave you constantly thinking about it while you are laying in bed. Which i believe is part of its design.

Cons: Creeps can far too easily unmount you and seem to agro from way to far away.

Rifts and footholds can sometimes be a pain in the neck, but then again when you stop to destroy them it instantly becomes fun.

Other Thoughts: I honestly have no idea what the person below me is smoking. For them to give this game such a negetive review makes me almost want to guarentee they are straight from one of Rift's competitors. Seems like something someone from the cold and snowy company that owns half this planet would say.

1 out of 5 eggsSuch as life, Riftful woes.

Pros: Graphically nice looking.

Cons: Terrible community! I have to say these people on the servers are massively mean. For the size of the servers this is an issue. I mean in other games people would help you just to help, in this game all I get is swearing and "HA HA quit the game noob"
Bad GMs, literally when I emailed an issue, it took them almost two weeks to reply.
Game will never offer addon support. Which shows me the company doesn't care about the community and never will.
Terrible endgame content, on my server they have cleared everything.
Rifts are boring, they pop up so often but offer so little than a headache when you want to be on for 30mins but can't do anything because a Rift happens to be where you need to be.
Game is impossible to play at certain times if there isn't enough people to take care of the Rift(s)
Classes and the choice don't matter any class can be any role. Other games may be cookie cutters, but game makes choice nonexistent.

Other Thoughts: I really disagree with their marketing campaign, not everyone interested in MMO's or has an interest knows about WoW. I don't even play anymore yet I find out of any company their jab towards who they are trying to go up against distasteful. Specially when your product really isn't that different at all from it.
I had actually expected a game that supposedly had been in development for more than three years to have had something worth while to keep me interested for more than a week, sadly it didn't happen. Once I got to max level I played around for a bit and found the game really boring. The game has a terrible story and you wonder why these factions are even fighting each other at all. The way the Rifts are explained for existing at all reminds me of the countless bad JRPGs I have played.
At the end of the day, you are expected to pay 15 dollars for a month for a game which honestly is WoW with a new coat of paint, just really boring? It's sad it turned out that way, but no th
