KASPERSKY lab Anti-virus 2012 - 1 User

Pros: I didn't get a virus while using it. Saved my skin when I got a virus about 6 months ago.

Cons: If you only plan on using it once then get the 1 user version. As any unused activation keys are basically wasted after 30 days from first day of activation on any computer. Found out the hard way today when trying to use my last key to reactivate the software on my old compy and well kaspersky customer service said "its on their agreement".

Other Thoughts: I think if you buy three keys you should be able to use three keys today, or twenty years from now regardless of when you first activate.

Pros: Great product as usual. I became a KAV (KIV) user since KAV 6.

Cons: It had been a long time to get the rebate. I applied for the rebate on March and get it today. Not happy about this.

Pros: Of all the AV programs, Kaspersky is the most aggressive at stopping potentially unwanted programs (PUPs). Kaspersky also finds and removes many trojans that Symantec, Trend and Mcafee ignore or just can't remove.

Cons: Initial update is slow to download.

Other Thoughts: Kaspersky updates several times a day with an incremental change vs most others download the entire definition list everyday. So the Kas update is quicker after the initial update. The current content/definitions update Norton/Symantec is pushing 200mb. I assume the initial update for Kaspersky is similar in size and is the reason for the slowness on first pass.

Pros: I assume it works as advertised. I guess that I will find out if and when I get all the updates downloaded.

Cons: If you are on dial-up, which I am, don't buy this program. This program when you buy it is way behind on updates. I have been trying for hours and hours on dial-up to get all the updates downloaded.

Other Thoughts: Don't buy if on dial-up..

Pros: Great protection! Free with rebate!

Cons: None as of now!

Pros: updates are not just daily , sometimes you get a few updated during the day. scans fast and did not use a lot of CPU on my pc.

Cons: a little on the pricey side but to me it is worth it.

Other Thoughts: I bought this virus software as i knew I had a little bug on my pc somewhere that was killing my CPU usage on my PC. looked all over the internet and could not figure out where this bug was. after installing this software it and updating the definitions it found a threat in the first 5 minutes and removed it. I had used many different programs to scan my pc and this is the only one that actually found the problem. after a quick reboot my pc was running at full speed again. I have always been a user of free anti virus software ( through comcast ) or AVG etc..... this is the first time I have ever paid for antivirus software and I am glad I did. looks like I will be buying the multi year subscription when this one runs out.
