2 out of 5 eggsIncorrect Tracking Information Led to Feelings of Dread!

Pros: My shipment is on its way!

Cons: New Egg provided a link to track my shipment, and linked it to Fedex, however the tracking number was really for UPS.

I started to think my shipment was lost!
Hahahahahahaha!
Not funny!

Other Thoughts: It would be nice if the link provided was to the correct shipping company!

1 out of 5 eggsWorse than Vista?

Pros: Live tiles are great, a few apps are very well designed (Netflix, Plex). I think that's it. I seriously can't believe that that's it.

Cons: Nothing is intuitive, buggy as anything I've ever used, Metro is garbage when you're on a desktop/laptop, Desktop is nerfed because MS expects everyone to use Metro, updates aren't working, wi-fi is buggy, moving/organizing/deleting metro tiles is difficult, homegroups is a mess, 8.1 doesn't get it right....

Other Thoughts: MS needs to have a serious reality check about how long they want to ride the metro train. They look at XPs longevity as a sign that they did something right. The reality is that Vista was a steaming pile, and that scared everyone off upgrading from XP. If they don't want every to stick to W7 for a decade, they need to drop Metro with W9. I won't buy another Windows version with Metro. I'll switch to Mac. I'll use Android devices. I'd rather mess with Linux.

2 out of 5 eggsWish I had Windows 7

Pros: Everything is fast, but I haven't had much time for things to bog me down, and my PC build is fast in its own right.

Cons: Aggravating for desktop use, because this is VERY geared for tablet use and for selling Microsoft apps.

Word Starter is no longer included, which is reason enough for people like me to not want this OS.

NVIDIA gfx card clashes with OS's dual monitor setup.

my LG Blu-Ray drive (WH16NS40) has all kinds of issues. Windows Media Player won't even play my DVDs, or recognize my discs in the drive.

I have a back-lit keyboard that does not turn off when the computer goes to sleep on its own. I have to manually set the computer to sleep for this.

Other Thoughts: I bought this based on it taking less resources to run than 7 does, but if I'd realized how much of an annoyance this OS was in comparison, I would've stuck with 7 in a heartbeat.

1 out of 5 eggsHate it

Pros: works great with my new games...

Cons: everytime I update a driver it will totally delete it...twice I had to refresh the program because I was told to update my LAN driver and it deleted the whole LAN file contents..way to much security

Other Thoughts: I know its new..Just hope they can work out the kinks

5 out of 5 eggsDon't be afraid or Worried

Pros: I was very worried about moving from Win 7 which I love to Win 8.1. It was for nothing.
It's the retail version so you get a 64 bit disc and a 32 bit disc.
You can install it on as many PC's as you wish, just one at a time. I need this as I swap my hardware like underwear. Often ;)

The much talked about "Start" button is BACK !! so no worries there. You can make Windows 8.1 look like Windows 7 if you like.

Windows 8.1 boots faster than Windows 7, Other than that speed increase I think they are about the same in operation speed.

My main PC use is for browsing and gaming, I run 3 monitors in Nvidia Surround and this version of Windows handles all my games and all the Nvidia settings and setup just fine. Windows 8.1 also runs all my games perfectly. I have not had one issue with Windows and PC Games.

Cons: Getting used to it is only real con. Im not sure Microsoft will keep this interface next time around after it kicked up so much dust. You know what though ? it's fine.

The Metro interface, however it's not really a con once you start to play around all those squares now look nothing like it did when I first started using this operating system. I now have the tiles on my metro start up all changed out to the ones I want. All my app's and games are now on my Metro.

Other Thoughts: I needed a new copy of Windows, I had an OEM copy of 7 and I upgrade hardware alot. The folks at Microsoft have been very kind to let me validate after upgrades a few times. I didn't want to push the envelope. So since the price on Retail Windows 8.1 is in a very good spot. I went for it. Im glad I did.

5 out of 5 eggsawkward to use

Pros: aesthetically pleasing. I love the apps.

Cons: Awkward to use since it's all such a new experience and highly deviates from previous windows

Other Thoughts: Those who dock eggs are just too lazy to truly utilize windows 8's potential.
