4 out of 5 eggsOutlook on MAC OSX

Pros: Runs smoothly on 13" MBP 2010 w/ 8GB RAM 10.6.8. Windows 7 64 runs about as fast as an average windows machine. You can lock a USB device to a specific OS!

Cons: Does not always tab through open windows smoothly. Sometimes have to minimize open windows to see dialog boxes.

Other Thoughts: Parallels 6 ran smoothly for me and did what I needed. I got the free upgrade to Parallels 7 and did not notice any real changes. I don't play games, this is for work. In that regard, if you have USB gear that only works in Windows, this has a great feature that allows you to "lock" a device to a particular OS whenever you connect. This is great for my job as I have to connect to proprietary USB devices that only have Windows configuration software. I remember trying this in Parallels version 3/4 and it never worked...finally it does!

2 out of 5 eggsTakes too much resources

Pros: Able to run Windows without restarting.

Cons: Im running a MB Pro with a 2.7ghz i7 with 8gb of RAM and once I open Parallels the whole computer runs sluggish. I capped the program to only use 2GB of RAM and it keeps eating more and more RAM. When you close the program it does not release the RAM it used until you restart your computer.

Other Thoughts: VirtualBox is free and it runs much smoother than Parallels which I paid for. I heard the memory leaking is fixed in 7 but Im not paying an extra 50 dollars to maybe fix their program issue especially when VirtualBox does all I need to do.

5 out of 5 eggsGotta Have

Pros: It lets you run windows apps along side OS X
No restarted your mac to get to Windows

Cons: I have no cons with this software

Other Thoughts: if you're moving from pc to mac this is a gotta have, and even if your all mac but want to enjoy all that Windows goodness, this application makes it as easy as 1, 2, 3.

3 out of 5 eggsNeeds RAM for sure!

Pros: Version 6 runs on Lion 10.7 stable. Boots Windows 7 pretty fast. Did I mention its Stable?Running out of Pro's

Cons: Needs plenty of RAM to run well. Also fast CPU above 2.0Ghz core 2 or better. The more you try and do the slower it gets.

Other Thoughts: I upgraded to Lion 10.7 and it required me to upgrade from Parallels 5 to 6. I thought 5 ran pretty well in Snow Leopard even with only 2Gb RAM on my Macbook Air. Trouble is it really requires more in Lion. I think because right off the bat the Macbook Air holds 256MB for Graphics memory in system. Then OS X uses about 700MB running. So Parallels running Windows 7 really zaps all the RAM. I only use a browser in Windows 7( my work requires IE8) But even so I get a few tabs open and it starts slowing down. Considering that Parallels says minimum RAM is 1GB for system but even Microsoft recommends 1Gb of RAM for Windows 2GB is now tpyical for good performance. That tells me that Parallels is really skimping on RAM. My advice is Parallels is good if you have 4GB RAM or better. If you don't, go with Boot Camp.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Parallels is a great program and I've been nothing but pleased with the speed and ease with which I've set up my VMs. It's amazing that I'm running my full old Windows machine in a window on my Mac, and running everything well!

Cons: None. So far it's doing exactly what I need it to.

Other Thoughts: This is the first time I've been disappointed in Newegg, everything arrived on time but was shipped in an envelope and the package was pretty thoroughly crushed. Then just now I finally received an email confirming my order had been placed, 4 days after it had been delivered! Not what I'd expect from what used to be the best tech store on the internet.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes what it claims

Pros: Installed with no problems, various options such as Coherence mode, full screen and windowed all work fine. Installed Windows 7 home premium 64 bit with no problems. I also installed the Chrome OS virtual machine to see what that looks like!

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I think the price for upgrades as they become available are on the expensive side.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: You are not limited to just one additional operating system in case you want to use a version of Linux, Windows, and Snow Leopard on the computer
Is very easy to install
Installed very easily

Cons: Windows 7 is somewhat slower compared to using it on a PC.

Other Thoughts: This is an excellent product. Despite other comments if you follow the directions there should be no problems. Read the directions first.

5 out of 5 eggsIts like your not even using Windows

Pros: easy install. Run windows programs just like its an osx app, its like your not even using windows. Its super easy to use, trust me i'm no computer genius by any means, if i can use this with it being this simple anyone should be able to.

Cons: none so far!

Other Thoughts: Not sure why others are having problems. Installed Parallels 6 with Windows 7 professional on my new macbook pro 13 and haven't had a single problem.

1 out of 5 eggsAwful outsourced support

Pros: If you never have a problem and can find solutions in forums, you will be happy because you will never have to deal with their support.

Cons: Support wasted hours of my time. Either the guy was not listening or did not understand my problem. I stated and re-stated clearly what I needed to do. He remoted in to my computer and poked around and couldn't figure it out (nice job, using the free version of teamviewer for commercial use btw). Then he sent me a follow up message blaming me for the problem I was having and saying that the ticket will be open until I close it as resolved. My only option when I log in is to click "resolved" btw.

All their email communications with me have been extremely poor - here is an example, just from an automated message: "Somebody asked password reminder for your e-mail address. Unfortunately we doesn't keep user's passwords, so we couldn't send you your old password."

How does it make good financial sense to save money in the short term but ruin your image and relationship with your clients in the long term, thus losing those clients?

Other Thoughts: I wish I had started out using some other virtualization software instead.

5 out of 5 eggsWORKS LIKE A CHARM!!

Pros: Runs Windows & smoothly and without issues. You can run Windows in cherence mode su you sont really have to go into Windows to use your programs. The programs just open like they would on your Mac.

Cons: It's a bit slow starting up.

Other Thoughts: Works WONDERFULLY on my late 2009 white MACBOOK!! I'm not sure what the other two guys are doing so that Parallels doesnt work, but it works flawlessly in my Mac..
