Other Thoughts: Some Anti Virus programs want to control the entire show, Windows, programs, and some are invasive to the point that removing them is a feat onto itself. Bit Defender installed without a problem I removed Trend Micro first which was running fine but had had it for 5 years and wanted something better. I removed TM first using Windows Control Panel and restarted the computer just to be sure and then put the DVD in for BD I'm running Vista 64 and was afraid I would be spending the next day or two with computer problems. The only thing I had to do was download the latest update software from BD to make it current with todays threats it was a big download 154 MB to bring BD up to date. It was very easy and required no skills to do so. Very impressed. How does BD work very nicely... I did a quick scan at first took about 5 mons then I did a full scan it took 1 hr and 15mins to complete. and went thru almost 1 million files/ data entries. A great product, highly recommend it !

Rating: 5/5Bitdefender 2012 AV Plus
Pros: Great AV Software Package.....but it took some work to figure out and resolve problems.
Encountered stability and slow performance problems after initial installation, but after downloading and uninstalling all previous remnants of Bitdefender using their Uninstallation Software the new installation is a Rock Stable, dependable and light on resources.
Before installing 2012 AV Package , make sure that all previus installations are completely removed with their Uninstall Software that can be downloaded free from their webpage.
Cons: Does not like to co-exist with other AV software. Even partial remnants of prevoius versions of Bitdefender must be completely removed before installing 2012 Package

Pros: Using Bitdefender for years
Cons: Using BitDefender for years.
Other Thoughts: Not too long ago, my machine was happily cranking along with Zone Alarm firewall suite, BitDefender Anti-Virus, Spyware Doctor (without the Shield active) and Registry Mechanic. All co-existed without a problem.
Each successive version of these programs made co-existence with the others, as well as some semblance of resposiveness more and more elusive. They now ALL demand exclusivity.
It didn't make sense that I couldn't have a primary firewall, a primary anti-virus and a primary spyware program getting along together, and then running other scans as insurance.
Now I have regretfully and totally eliminated Zone Alarm as it was the most problematic, but use BitDefender and Spyware Doctor although some of its functions are flagged by BitDefender as malware.
Have yet to decide on a suite, as this may be the best option. I have installed BitDefender Total Security on my triplet's machines and it seems OK, but since its so stealthy, I'm not sure its working properly.

Pros: Fairly inexpensive.
NewEgg as usual was able to give me great service.
Cons: Poor Performance. I had an exceedingly difficult time getting it to install on Windows XP and run. Questionable virus definitions. I had some rather strange false identifications with it. Poor Service. Multiple messages to Bitdefender and the only one I got a quick response to was asking for a refund, they referred me to newegg, who was promptly able to assist with a return.
Other Thoughts: I bought this to replace my AVG anti-virus. It was fairly inexpensive, and its info looked good and a similar set-up to what I was used to so I decided to try it. I had a lot of difficulties installing it on my windows XP system. I had to install several non-essential updates to get it running and it crashed about 2/3 of the time. The real problems happened when it did run. When the anti-virus was running it would cause my PC to crash when it started running in anything besides a passive mode the majority of the time. I initially thought I had picked up a virus it was not able to detect. I finally figured out that the Bitdefender was causing the crash. This anti-virus gave me more trouble than any virus i've ever had. I picked up a different anti-virus on newegg and i'm waiting for it to arrive. In the mean time I am using a free software I got online and the issues stopped as soon as I uninstalled the BitDefender.
