bitdefender Total Security 2012 - 3 User

Pros: I have not gotten a virus while using it.

Cons: Besides other annoyances, it wakes my computer from sleep mode in the middle of the night. I checked using Windows' powercfg -lastwake command...every time, it's Bitdefender's vsserv.exe. It just did this twice in a row for no apparent reason.

Other Thoughts: 43 days left on the license is too many...

Pros: It has everything you need in an AV, Firewall, Antiphishing etc.

Cons: Previous version of this software was a click this is a NOVA bring your browser to a stall.

Pros: Lots of options; nice interface; seems to be light on my system; have not had any malicious software problems while using it. Customer service was actually very prompt and thorough in responding to my emails asking for instructions on how to set up certain features.

Cons: If you use DHCP, this product will make your life miserable. I can't use remote desktop or a network media share because my laptop uses DHCP--and there's no way to allow the IP address through my desktop's firewall without knowing ahead of time what it will be and typing it manually into Bitdefender (even though both systems use Bitdefender 2012). It also constantly forgets my settings for network printers when I change wireless network SSIDs and I have to constantly manually retype the IP addresses for these devices.

It also messes with other unusual aspects of my system--for example, it is a known issue that Bitdefender Active Virus control will prevent users of Solidworks from opening or creating a file without using software OpenGL, and issue I experienced personally. Every time my computer seems to have a strange or inexplicable problem it has been the fault of Bitdefender.

Other Thoughts: I was very optimistic when I purchased this software and I suppose it has done its job, but I wouldn't buy it again, even for "free with mail in rebate."

It's like having a security system on your house that successfully prevents break ins, but also sometimes causes your sink not to work and prevents you from coming in the back door unless you have turned on the kitchen lights. I guess it works...but you can probably do better.

Pros: Can't even notice it running!

Cons: Nothing yet.

Cons: Win 7 64 bit install issues, would not get through install. Finally got past that, then internet took minutes to load a page. Even after changing settings, web speed was awful.

New interface is not user friendly.

Other Thoughts: Has always been a worthy product....until now.

Pros: I have been running BitDefender on all 6 of my PC's for about 4 years. It has was rated as one of the top firewalls and anti-virus programs. It will not let you go to websites listed as hacker sites, and will let you know that it has stopped such and such virus/trojan from infecting your system. It has a very nice feature that shows a small pair of boxes in the lower corner of the screen. These tell you when files are being, run/accessed (Just bars not a %) also tells you when your internet/network is being accessed.

3 modes for control panel beginner, intermediate and advanced so it is easy for most people to understand.

Cons: It is very hard to network with Bitdefender. It wants to only connect to computers using it's program. Secondly even using two computers with Bitdefender I was constantly getting errors that the computer I was attempting to connect to did not have Bitdefender when it in fact did. Current versions call for a master computer and all other computers to be controlled by the master.

Quality from 2008-2010 was great. 2011 on went down hill. So did customer support.

Will not run in Safe Mode. (At least not on Win7) Never caught a virus or trojan until 2011. When my son caught a mixture of 7. Bitdefender not only could not find or disinfect but reported that itself was infected. Another AV ran and cleaned the system. Bitdefender was NOT infected as reported!?! I still have valid licenses but uninstalled Bitdefender for a better security suite.

Other Thoughts: Not a BAD security program but no longer one of the best out there. It only hogs resources when running scans, which can be scheduled or manual. So no egg minused for that as pretty much all AV software will slow you down during scans.

Pros: Has strong antivirus searching and destroying capabilities
Provides strong active defense, more thorough than other antivirus programs that I have used.
Frequent updates
Its won a lot of awards for its effectiveness.
Can run quietly in the background if needed.
Also has features that help you clean your computer to keep it running optimally, and
Good price to effectiveness ratio. (in my opinion)

Cons: Intensive on the Ram and processing for average computers. the minimum reccomended RAM in the specs is 1 gig, which is not nearly enough to cause problems on new computers, but on older pcs/notebooks it can slow down your system to a crawl. especially on XP systems which have much less RAM typically.

Other Thoughts: Getting the trial and upgrading is a solid option as well, you get to try it out, and see if it suits your security needs before you sink money into it.

Pros: Good antivirus capabilities, strong firewall, high ratings for malware etc.

Cons: Crashes my computers regularly. Horrible tech support. Bloated client. Slows your web browsers down to a crawl. When you "disable" certain features to make it run faster they still run in background, even after a restart

Other Thoughts: I was sent on a military assignment that took me just past the 30 day return policy. I was told that's too bad and they could let me download Bitdefender Total Security 2011 to see if it would fix the problems on my 3 computers. Still haven't received a call back from upper level manager about anything. Bad company
