Bitdefender Internet Security 2013 - 3 PCs / 1 Year

Pros: Didn't use it long enough

Cons: Primary con is it seems to kill the combination of SlySoft's AnyDVD v.7.1.2.0 (latest as of review date) & ArcSoft MediaConverter 8 (latest as of review date). AnyDVD worked fine prior to install with Windows 8 built-in Defender. Install this and nothing ripped successfully immediately after. Uninstall, reboot, reinstate Windows Defender, no problemo using AnyDVD with the exact same discs.

Also couldn't figure out how to open up specific ports in the built-in firewall. For example, I change my RDP & FTPS ports, but didn't see any options to open them up. Programs yes, ports, no.

Also seemed to randomly freeze my home network & external usb/flash drives every once in awhile (probably from scanning for viruses).

Also would prefer the option where the program asks me what to do if it finds something. Your only options are delete, quarantine, or lock access.

Other Thoughts: Might be a top rated antivirus, but usability for advanced users is severely lacking. If you're a noob, ships ahoy. If you're a medium to advanced user, look elsewhere for the options you're going to want to use.

Pros: * Easy to setup
* Performs an antivirus scan before install (Very good)
* Can scan your emails for spam
* Can scan IM messages
* Can scan Facebook and Twitter messages
* Will warn you when you are about to go to an unsafe page
* Activitly scans files in the background for viruses
* Can shred your files that you don't want anyone to see
* Uses little resources
* Provides it's own firewall which offers more security
* Firewall is easy to setup if you need to, otherwise it blocks connections that you did not authorize
* Offers customizatible parental controls
* Let's you know when your credit score has changed
* Has a Game mode features so messages do not bother you while you game
* Autopilot feature works well so you don't have to mess around with the client that much
* Does not use speech to let you know what it has done such as avast (A "very" good thing)

Cons: * Antispam feature requires that you have a POP3 mail account
* Bitdefender lets you know when it has switched to Game mode via a popup. While it's not bad for some, it can be annoying at times
* Bitdefender cannot scan online mail accounts. But, it will scan files you download from an online mail account.
* Bitdefender has problems with the Opera web browser. Although the browser will run, Bitdefender's own security site certificate will cause Opera to ask for confirmation to visit sites since it cannot valid Bitdefender's certificate. Hopefully this will be resolved in a future update of Opera and/or Bitdefender.

Other Thoughts: Overall the product is a solid performer and it will serve your needs well. Unlike some other antivirus products, this one does not feel "bloated" and it offers some features that others do not (such as checking your credit score for you). I would highly recommend this product to anyone who wishes to upgrade their antivirus software so that they can more easily manage their antivirus software or to have better peace of mind when they access unsafe sites or viruses.
