Cisco eliminates the worry over what type of network you have with their tri-mode adapter. It works in single mode for a, b, or g, dual mode a/g or tri-mode a/b/g for maximum connectivity.

Installation options are maximized with the included low-profile bracket for use in slimline and rack-mount systems. The PCI interface means compatibility with most systems. The remote antenna's 2 meter cable lets you place it for maximum signal strength and connectivity.

Since the need for security is at an all time high you have a choice between WEP, WPA and WPA2 protocols to protect your data and identity with no loss of transmission speed. In addition to data protection a secure network means that nobody is leeching bandwidth and slowing your network to a crawl.

  • newegg Wi-Fi Certified The Cisco Aironet 802.11a/b/g wireless PCI adapter features compatibility with 802.11a, 802.11b and 802.11g wireless devices to preserve existing wireless network investment, while Wi-Fi certification assures interoperability with similarly certified products.
  • newegg Enterprise-Class Security Solution With a high level network security designed for enterprises, the Cisco Aironet 802.11a/b/g wireless PCI adapter incorporates the 802.1X standard for port-based network access. The adapter also supports 802.11i devices by combining the full array of Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) types for user-based authentication with the enterprise caliber Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) encryption. The adapter also supports WPA2 for high interoperability and wireless security.
  • newegg Enhanced Client Network Management Features The Cisco Aironet 802.11a/b/g wireless PCI adapter features an intuitive graphical user interface (GUI) for the Cisco Aironet Desktop Utility, System Tray Utility, and Client Administration Utility to easily configure, monitor, and manage the adapter.

1 out of 5 eggsDrivers!

Pros: Great range and speed.

Cons: Try getting an updated driver from Cisco if you do not have a service contract with them. You cannot get it. My company no longer recommends Cisco branded products to my customers because of this.

There must be another way to get drivers without cost. If a Cisco rep could point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it.

3 out of 5 eggsOutdated Drivers

Pros: Great wireless NIC. Superb connection using it. Never drops connection.

Cons: This is not compatible with anything newer than XP. The Vista drivers are terrible and cause PC lockups frequently. Windows 7 drivers do not exist. Cisco will not be releasing any more drivers for this card.

Other Thoughts: This card is expensive but it is enterprise class wireless NIC. You get what you pay for (as long as you are using Windows XP).

1 out of 5 eggsTotal and Complete Waste

Pros: None, this Item NEVER worked on ANY of my machines containing XP, Vista and 7. I tried ALL of my troubleshooting options to get the hardware to work and it did not work. The driver is UN-compatible with all versions of windows in my personal experience. This IS a waste of money and time.

Cons: Does not work with any operating system. Cannot disconnected cord so its an inconvenience installing the hardware. The software does not work.

Other Thoughts: DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Buy

Pros: My router is on the first floor, and my computer is on the third floor. This wireless card has dropped the connection...maybe twice since I've had it? Great signal, reliable connection, definitely worth the price for the piece of mind

Cons: The only con is the price, but you get what you pay for.

2 out of 5 eggsCisco Driver Issues

Pros: Reception is excellent; too early to assess further

Cons: Cable for antenna is not detachable; may cause challenges during hardware installation.

Driver provided with the device did not work with XP. Acquiring the latest driver was VERY difficult.

Other Thoughts: The driver provided with the disk locked up Windows XP. Acquiring an updated driver required two hours of hassle from Cisco's technical support staff. They demanded that a Technical Support Agreement be in place just to download a driver! Then they needed proof of purchase, and then a service request ticked was generated. I ended up on the phone with the "entitlement" group to see if I was entitled to download the driver. Eventually driver version 4.5 worked with XP.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic card

Pros: Highly reliable, never disconnects, works fast even with 1 bar signal. If you use a voip or a shoutcast - you need it.

Cons: Has no high profile mount, only mini for small cases.

Other Thoughts: Well, yes, it doesn't have a plug/socket, but you won't find a better and more reliable card out there. I tried. Believe me I tried. All other cards are just B/S. That's it. Therefore I bought 4 and I am very happy with them all.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Insanely good connection. I would bet my life on this thing's connection stability. Until I started having problems with my router I never lost connection. Haven't tried it at range, but my signal jumped a good 40% after installing it. The fact that it has a 100 milliwatt default antenna power is pretty sweet. my router (linksys WRT54G rev 8) is only running at 75mW and actually is kinda unstable since I boosted the signal strength to that (tells you the quality of my router).

Cons: Cantenna (antenna plugged into the back of a pringles can to get immense range: quarter-mile+) needs pinpoint accuracy to really be used at range. I couldn't use it to bridge the connection to my parent's laptop on the other end of the house because of that. Not for lack of trying mind you.
Also, I do a lot of wifi file transfers and it's not wireless n. :(

Other Thoughts: Ended up just being my wireless access point. Too lazy to figure out adding a dish instead (would need to use a metal strainer for a dish).\
I wish they had one available in N, I would buy it on the spot.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great in Windows 7 x64

Pros: Vista drivers from work just fine in Windows 7 x64. Mine report version dated 5/7/2008. Yes, you have to have/create a Cisco login to download the drivers, but the drivers are easy to find after that.

Cons: None that I can find. Those who were attached to the Cisco specific GUI in XP will be sad to see it is no longer a part of the Vista / Windows 7 drivers.

Other Thoughts: Still no Windows 7 or x64 specific drivers, but I found the Vista drivers to work fine.

4 out of 5 eggsNeed windows 7 drivers

Pros: Awesome signal. Works perfectly in XP Pro with drivers only install. Great design and good cord length.

Cons: Network Management Software that come with it changes my windows logon to the network logon screen. (just install the drivers) No drivers for windows 7 (really really blows losing this device because I will have to upgrade) Navigating Cisco's website for drivers sucks hardcore. I'd rather have all spam redirected to my mailbox than have to decipher cisco's cryptic website.

Other Thoughts: good hardware. Need Windows 7 drivers please!!!!!!!
