5 out of 5 eggsreliable rputer

Pros: Very reliable, puts up with a lot of abuse from people and environment. high and low temps, being kicked and served Pepsi. I wouldn't recommend anyone subject their gear to this but it's nice to know these survive a 'kids' environment.
As an added plus these are frequently on sale for less than 20 bucks. Got mine for $12 w/free shipping!

Will work as a repeater

Suppports wireless N

Cons: At this price point only one very minor nit, the base stand is non removable once snapped in place. It does arrive with the stand not installed, knowing this if you do not want the base stand (e.g. to mount sideways) just be sure not to snap it in in the 1st place.

100Mbs only (no gigabit) for the wired ports

Will only support WEP when setup as a repeater

Other Thoughts: You can flash these with DD-WRT if you'd like

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Routers

Pros: Routers are relatively easy to set up, but also have some advanced features that are very nice.

I am quite fond of the ability to set a static IP address within the network, so that if you have something, such as a wireless printer, you can give it an IP address, and not have to worry about it changing when the router restarts.

Cons: The base for these is not removable, which makes it so that you can't always place them where you want.

Other Thoughts: I had a WNR3500U/L router that I absolutely loved that I thought had gotten hit by lightning (I was wrong, it was just the power cable), while around the same time my mother was having issues with her Belkin N router dropping signal (and regularly dropping the printer), so I was in need of a new pair of routers.

Being familiar with the setup, due to having a similar router before, there was no doubt in my mind that I was going to pick up a couple of these, and I haven't been disappointed.

5 out of 5 eggsKeeps going and going and going

Pros: I bought 5 of these refurbished wireless routers over five years ago on a bargain discount similar to this current price. They are all are running well and in fact I recently yanked my Buffalo 300 WZR-300HP in my house and replaced it with this Netgear WNR2000. Be sure your firmware is up to date. Firmware Version V1.2.3.7NA, GUI Language Version V1.1.5.12. I use the auto update from right inside the router to install the updates and it always works fine. For you Comcast users I would recommend dumping the Comcast DNS services at 75.75.75.75 plus 75.75.76.76 and instead use Google's DNS machines at 8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4 which can be set up inside the router easily.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Great price that's for sure.

1 out of 5 eggsthanks refurbished!

Pros: Good router, when it worked. Signal strength was better than average, which is what I was looking for.

Cons: This router worked for (of course) 31 days. Mind you the warranty for the refurbished model is only 30 days. Now the router's wireless signal cuts off randomly. Now, all i have to do is push the button to turn it back on, but i should've have to do that. Money out the window.

1 out of 5 eggsUPDATE: DO NOT PURCHASE

Pros: No Pro's whatsoever. NetGear support is absolutely awful as well.

Cons: Everything is bad, including what I mentioned earlier. Also, don't pay attention to the "NetGear Support Team's" follow up to my review - because when I contacted NetGear at their website, they said it was 'incorrect information.' They told me there is absolutely NO warranty, not even a 30 day warranty, (despite a NetGear 30 day refurb warranty card being included in the package).

So, NetGear apparently doesn't know their own policies, and whoever is posting here on NewEgg for them is 'incorrect' - and this is according to NetGear themselves. "There is no warranty at all on refurbs."

Other Thoughts: AVOID THIS ROUTER. It is complete trash, and their customer support will not help you at all.

1 out of 5 eggsDied exactly after the 30 day "warranty"

Pros: NONE

Cons: When it worked (for exactly 30 days), it would drop signal and need to be restarted about every 12 hours. This was from day one. Eventually DIED right after 30 days. I just bought this end of June/Early July. Died last week.

Other Thoughts: From day one, this device was faulty. Dropped signal about every 10 hours and had to be restarted. I immediately wanted to return it, but gave support a chance to help me out. (I'm not new when it comes to routers either.)

NetGear support recommended trying some new settings; with the new settings it was still dropping every day. I figured, for the price - maybe that's just what I should expect, a poor quality router that must be restarted every day.

BUT - on day 31 of my owning it, it completely stopped broadcasting a wireless signal. Called support - the phone rep said it's out of warranty, and he could only try to help me reboot/hard restart it. The hard restart brought it back - kind of - for one day. And now it is once again not broadcasting a signal. Coincidentally, a friend who bought this warned me of these exact problems. He told me 'don't get it. It will die right after the 30 days.' Literally...I called support RIGHT after the 30 days to let them know it failed. And no offer to replace a faulty product - not anything - as the warranty is for exactly 30 days. Very disappointed with NetGear, makes me not want to ever buy from them again.

Manufacturer Response:
