4 out of 5 eggsWorking Fine

Pros: It provides a good extended signal, particularly at the end of the house where I use my Blackberry Playbook and my wife uses her Acer tablet. Before adding this extender, her tablet would disconnect periodically and my Playbook was agonizingly slow and had problems connecting. After adding this, my wife can use her tablet in the kitchen with no problems, and my Playbook is great. I can even watch streaming video on it now, something I could never do before.

Cons: When I purchased this (refurbished) extender, had no problems with setup and connection to my router. After it was in use for a while, though, the lights on the unit were very erratic, even the power led would go off periodically. Then, the extender would disconnect and reconnect of with no rhyme or reason. I was about to send it back for replacement, then I decided that because it was such a bargain, I'd just live with it and look for another. Well---a few months later---I've had absolutely no problems with it since its intial 'problem period.' Maybe it was just having personal problems at first? Anyway, I believe I've had a real bargain!

4 out of 5 eggsNetgear WN2000RPT

Pros: Easy to setup and install. It has much more range than my Cisco or ARRIS wireless routers.
Grandkids no longer complain about their devices not working in the living room.

Cons: It did not work with the Time Warner provided ARRIS router. Hence the four star rating.
The refurbished router had several dings and scratches on the face plate. Not that it matters since it is hidden from view.

Other Thoughts: This is my first Netgear product. I had stayed away from their products due to a reputation for inferior products. Not true with this repeater. Wish I had bought two when they were $15.
I do not recommend giving the router the same name as the router it extends or any other router in the area.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Repeater!

Pros: Easy setup. Make sure you have your router settings set on a specific wireless channel (not auto) and this may resolve the issue that people are having with connectivity. My guess is that when the router changes wireless channels on auto, the connection to the repeater drops out. I have NO issues and I have dual routers and dual repeaters. I ran my main router on wireless channel 1, and the secondary on wireless channel 11. These repeaters work excellent with my setup :) FYI... I am running dual Netgear wireless routers in my setup.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Hard to beat for the $15 (each) price that I paid for both.

1 out of 5 eggsTotal dud! Don't buy.

Pros: - Simple to set up
- Low price

Cons: - Doesn't maintain connectivity
- Needs frequent reset. At least once a day
- Locks up devices connected to it

Other Thoughts: I purchased this device to improve overall WiFi signal coverage in my home as the main WiFi router sits in one corner on the upper floor of the house. I had read the mixed reviews but since this was offered at a low price I thought of giving it a try.

The initial set up was a breeze and I set it up with the same SSID as my router so that devices could move seamlessly without having to be reconfigured. However, that's where the fun ended.

My family members started complaining that internet wasn't working and after some initial troubleshooting I found that the culprit was this extender. The moment I switched it off, the devices - laptops, iphones, etc. got working back to normal.

This set me on a discovery mission to zoom into the problem and get it resolved as I was bent on making this work!

After a lot of adjustments both on the extender side and the router side, I continued facing the problem. Reading up on the forums on the Netgear support site, I realized that there were a ton of people who had expressed exactly the same symptoms like what I had faced and also gone through very similar troubleshooting steps and had finally given up as there's an inherent flaw in this item.

Just go to the support forum on the Netgear site and search for WN2000RPT connectivity issues. There's a ton of posts by users on this topic.

BOTTOMLINE: Buy this only if it is FREE, not otherwise! It will end up in the junk anyway.

P.S.: Newegg customer service rocks. Refund was smooth. Will always be a loyal customer...

5 out of 5 eggsWorks like a charm!

4 out of 5 eggsRange Extender

Pros: Easy setup
Works as advertised

Cons: Had to reset once

Other Thoughts: Normally I wouldn't buy something with the negative reviews that this had but for $11 I didn't figure I would be out much. I may be one of the lucky ones but this has almost doubled the signal strength in my daughter's rooms which are on the opposite side of the house, one floor up from the router.
