2 out of 5 eggsAbout the Bang for the Buck ($20) . . .

Pros: $20 on special = 2 eggs, one for each $10. The lights light. We'll see for how long . . .

Cons: The only way to get a device to connect to this thing after it connects to the router (R6300v2= junk) is you have to, at least mine, set it up via WPS. Devices will not connect when this unit is manually set up. Sitting right in front of it and connecting a device, I get a stronger signal from the main router than I do from the "Extender" 2 feet away. I got this to fill holes and "extend" range for my pad to control my sprinkling system. We'll see how well it extends on the grounds. And it's not the proverbial "extender". It sets up another network. But since it was only $20 on special, I guess I got what I payed for. Glad I didn't pay full price.

Other Thoughts: And yes as already stated here, the Netgear response team is worthless. When I posted here that I had issues with my original R6300v1, they lovingly replied as they have here and gave me the eMail address they post here, I eMailed several times and never heard a word back. It took many, many calls to Netgear directly to finally get help, which was basically jumping through hoops with a ringmaster in India. Although, finally they sent me a v2 that is no better than the unit I spent over a month jumping through hoops "testing" for them. Their presence here is a smoke screen to instill a false sense of security that you are safe and taken care of, that in all reality is not there. Buyer beware. And yet I don't follow my own advice. Lucky Netgear.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Worked great for about a month.

Cons: Died after about a month, will no longer power up. Total waste of $$

Other Thoughts: Avoid the refurbished units!

4 out of 5 eggsWi-Fi Extender

Pros: Unit was fairly easy to install (20 mins. start to finish) when using the netgear web site. By following the instructions the extender becomes as secure as the wi-fi network through which it passes.
Been installed for 2 days and it works as specified by netgear.
I am satisfied with this purchase.

Cons: No problems to report

5 out of 5 eggsBig boost

Pros: Compact secure design. Fits perfectly behind my wall-hung TV (glad I put that duplex outlet there!) Like everybody else, went from 2 to 5 bars in a snap.

Cons: I have an older wi fi router, so I couldn't just push a button to reset as the easier instructions recommend. But, with a bit of patience and following directions I downloaded from the Netgear website, I got it to work.

Other Thoughts: Great range. One unit covers 2 floors.

1 out of 5 eggsPlease dont waste your money

Pros: doesn't work at all. Did not come with needed code on open box and a total waste of money. Unable to return -- I usually don't buy oepn box for this reason and I will not do so again. I have a two story home and just wanted the additional coverage. This does not work at all. You are better off buying the best router for the speed nd coverage area than a range extender like this one

Cons: cheap, no code, open box, worthless, waste of money

Manufacturer Response:

Hey Jerry,

We are very sorry that you are having trouble with the WN3000RP-- we recommend checking out our forums to see if you can find a fix there.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great little device. Took two minutes to setup. Plugged my genie into the ether at port, works great.

Cons: I guess it could be cheaper for a refurb.

1 out of 5 eggsAbsolute Garbage !!

Pros: None

Cons: Won't connect to iPhone. Netgear support is useless. E-mail support only on refurbs. Finally spoke to a tech, and he simply gave up. Every Netgear item seems to have problems these days. Quality is down the tubes. Not what they used to be.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Videomaker,

Please email us at newegg@netgear.com. Be sure to provide a copy and paste of your review and any case numbers that support gave you. We are looking forward to earning your business again and apologize for the frustrations.
