3 out of 5 eggsDid not last....Works great

Pros: Easy Set up. Works well

Cons: Non so far

Other Thoughts: Plunged in. Connected my laptop to the wireless signal, opened web browser and the setup ran. I had it synced with my wireless network in about 5 minutes. I also did the firmware update with wireless and did not have a problem. Its been working good for about 2 weeks and I have not had a problem. Update Lasted about a year and started Dropping. I switched to an Engenius ap.

3 out of 5 eggsThe Extender Can Be Great, But...

Pros: It was easy to setup using WPS on my Xfinity box. No more configuration needed.
My small devices--tablet and smartphone--use my Wifi instead of phone data minutes, and the Netgear has a much better connection than connecting to the Xfinity box in the basement

Cons: However, this seems to have trouble maintaining a persistent connection through the weeks. So I've found that I need to unplug it from the electrical socket every few weeks and plug it in again to "reset" the connections. Otherwise the devices complain that they can't get to the internet sites. After reset, they're fine.

5 out of 5 eggsWorked like a charm! Easy Setup!

Pros: Easy to setup.
Back and forward antenna pivot.
2 Antennas
Stable
Low Price with discount

Cons: A little too clunky(size of a regular wallet) but it does the job.
Flimsy plastic but again it does the job.

Other Thoughts: Just place it out of reach and out of sight where it can't be disturbed, setup and enjoy your extended wifi boost.

1 out of 5 eggsJust when you thoght you got it working...dud!

Pros: Not much other than the price

Cons: The setup is relatively straight forward but the signal stability is terrible...just terrible. I usually don't write reviews in here but I'm compelled to do so this time because I am so disappointed. Giving the benefit of doubt, I checked for firmware updates of which there was one which stated "Solved wireless instability with wireless router." (http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/24670/related/1/session/L2F2LzEvdGltZS8xNDUwNTk0OTk2L3NpZC9URzFLanFFbQ%3D%3D) Yay! Problems solved but sadly same nonsense!
Doesn't work at all!

Other Thoughts: Save yourself the headache and pass this over.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible product. Multiple replacements failing.

Pros: -None as I've never had one work

Cons: -2 DOA out of the box so I would say quality testing

Other Thoughts: I will be looking elsewhere for wireless products moving forward.

1 out of 5 eggsGARBAGE DO NOT BUY

Pros: It actually managed to start after a lot of effort.

Cons: The signal strength of this extender is awful. The strength, connection, and speed of this extender's signal is worse than before I installed it. Total waste of money

1 out of 5 eggsDefective item sold as refurb

Pros: Easy enough to set up. Signal ok. Price is right. Shipping was fast. It didn't injure anybody.

Cons: Defective. Internet doesn't work. I googled the symptom and tried the various fixes suggested such as setting a static IP, performing factory reset, updating the firmware, etc. From researching the issue it appears to be a common problem with these Netgear range extenders. My guess is that these were defective items that have been returned and then resold as refurbished.

Other Thoughts: Once you set it up you need to be connected to the extender wifi network in order to log into the router. Once yo are set up, you can access the administration page via http://www.mywifiext.net/ local DNS.

Since this thing doesn't work, I'm going back to my old Netgear that I configured with DDWRT that has been serving fine as an range extender.
