I am trying to extend my wifi range and make it stronger     will this help me??
The issue that i am having is there is someone in my apartment complex that over lapping my channels   yes more than 1.  They have a range extender as well.   I want to over lap them with a  little more oomph so i can keep the signal in my place.   i have a hard time getting a good signal 15 feet from my router in my apartment due to this issue.   Will this work for me

I am using this in conjunction with my Netgear DSL/WiFi Router.  I can still see my neighbors WiFi, but my computers, phone and printer have no issues connecting to this Extender. We have no interference with the other wireless networks in the area.  I centrally located this extender in the middle of our house, so every part of the house gets the signal from this, not from my router.  The biggest recommendation to WiFi's overlapping is to customize your Network ID and Encryption key.

I have been extremely happy with the performance of this extender and would recommend it.

So i bought this attempting to put this in my basement where wireless connectivity is extremely low. I planned on hooking a ethernet up to the back of my desktop computer. When i connected it Via ethernet i cannot connect to it at all. I read up saying you could do this and it isn't working at all, will not connect to the internet. It shows the (GEXT) connection and can connect with my phone but the cable is not working. Someone said this to me when i asked them if i could connect my computer to the extender wired "You might want to consider turning off the retransmit capability if you are only using it for your desktop unit which is connected by an Ethernet cable as you will make an additional channel available for connecting to your main unit." don't know what that means nor how to do it?

Hi Stephen:

I have my EX-6200 connected wirelessly by 5G to my R7000 5G router with the EX-6200 feeding by Ethernet four devices (Roku and other things). I don't feed a computer that way, but I don't know why it wouldn't work in principle. However, I am concerned by your statement that "in my basement where wireless connectivity is extremely low" that your EX6200 is not already connected to your router. You must connect the EX6200 with your router using either 2.4 G or 5 G wireless or both first, before the Ethernet lines to any device will work. This is where the signal strength information will help define whether it can work at all.

FYI, I also found that the 2.4 G and the 5 G signals interfere a bit with each other when both are enabled. Since I have a good 5G signal for our Kindle Fires, etc from the R7000 router, in Advanced-Operating Mode That is I checked "FastLane Technology – Offers maximum performance but limits connection to one band (2.4 or 5GHz)" and below it also checked 
Device-to-extender in 2.4GHz only and extender-to-router in 5GHz only (Router must support 5GHz band). Then to forego using the 2.4G from the EX-6200 to wireless devices other than my router, I simply did not enter a 2.4 G password, thus setting mine up using 5G between router and the EX-6200. All devices work, but FYI under maintenance--status the button show statistics indicates that the LAN ports are backwards; that is, port 5 is number 1 and port 1 is actually number 5.

It has work in both computers that are running Win10 without problems. Remember this is a WiFi Range Extender so your router involved in this process. Hope it helps.

Question 4

I am confused on if this will help our situation or not. Will this help boost my wifi connection?  we are in a very bad area and at the end of the signal line. My phone will go to 4G when the Internet is slow. Not able to watch anything streaming because it keeps stopping. netflix, youtube. It takes a hour to watch a 30 minute program.

If I understand your question, it sounds like your internet problem is a limited signal to your house. If that is the case, this Range Extender will not help. It is intended to extend (not strengthen) the wifi signal from  your primary wifi router. For example, if your router is in one end of your house and the wifi signal is weak at the other end of the house, putting this range extender near the middle of the house where the signal is still strong will extend the signal to the poorly covered part of your house. It will NOT increase the speed of your internet service.

This is probably a stupid question but here it goes. I know it says Range Extender but can this be used as a Router?

Dustin,
This product extends the range of your current wireless signal and does not function as a router. The Ethernet connections on the back offer you the option of plugging your xbox/playstation or laptop without having to set up the wireless again for them.

The extender will show up on the wifi broadcast as the name of the router it is connected to with a EXT after it.

An extender.  The IP addresses still come from your router.  It does create two new local new WiFi connections where ever you place the router.

Im looking to send signal to my boat about 50 feet outside of the house... Do i need to plug this in with a lan cable or will it pick up the signal via wifi and then send it back out via wifi?

You won't need a Lan cable. You can set this baby up totally over wifi.
You can log into it via your PC or tablet, and connect it to your existing network. Once you've done that, you can move it closer to your boat. Just make sure you have a power outlet nearby!!  I have two of these, and they work great!!  Hope this helps!!

is this item a dual voltage?

No this is 120V only. It is dual band which means it accepts signals at 2.4 and 5 GHz which can come in real handy in the house/office where you are looking to avoid interferences like cordless phones.

I have a wireless router at one end of my house. I need a device that will let me take the wireless and gave LAN connections at another location in my house. is this what I need?

Yes, I use this extender to provide a couple of LAN connections at the other end of my house. It will also provide Wireless but with a different SSID.

can you connect from router to range extender to another range extender so I can get further distance across the yard ?

Sure.  The extender connects to whichever SSID you point it to.  So, connect the new extender to the name of the previous extender.  If you give them easy to remember names, like Yard1 and Yard2, it will be easy to find their broadcast and know which one you are connecting to.  Also, if you can use the 5.8GHz band (802.11a) you will be less prone to interference from your neighbors, if you have any.
