Pros: Upgraded from a Wireless N router. The speed boost on the 5 ghz band is great. The setup was simple and fast. Get good coverage throughout the house

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Router

Pros: Great support for open source firmware. Myopenrouter has many versions of firmware for it. I am using DD-WRT and have no problems.

Cons: Stock firmware seems really buggy. Go with open source.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Wireless on Time Warner Cable!

Pros: Runs as advertised.

Cons: I had to call my cable company to get it working but that's because it's their policy not the product.

Other Thoughts: I have Time Warner Cable and I had to call them to authorize this device on my account, but that is one of their security measures and applies to all routers.

3 out of 5 eggsOkay router while it lasted...

Pros: Good speed and range. Dual band.

Cons: Only lasted about 3 months (pretty terrible life span) before it gave out, and now doesn't recognize any incoming data through the ethernet port. It thinks it is disconnected and due to being refurbished, I can't seem to get any real support for it. :(

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Oliver,

We are very sorry to hear that your R6200 is causing problems and want to get it fixed right away. Please email us at newegg@netgear.com with any information you can about when it stopped working properly.

We look forward to getting this issue resolved.

1 out of 5 eggsJunkity Junk Junk

Pros: Has guest network, ac, usb

Cons: Netgear has 0 support on refurbished units. The serial number is blacked out so you cannot return or get any tech support without paying. That is their process because the tech knew right of what a blacked out serial number meant.

Other Thoughts: I got a bum unit out of the box and no recourse. spoke to cox cable and they indicated I had it set up properly. Netgear's tech support won't provide any assistance without you paying even to verify that you have a bum unit. My guess is their refurbishing process is not very good, they probably don't have sufficient testing. Based on these items I would not consider a refurbished Netgear product unless it is about 80% discount due to risks.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Scorpio,

We do offer email support for 30 days after purchase on refurbished units. We'd like to help in any way we can if you are within that period -- please email us at newegg@netgear.com with your purchase information, and we'll be in touch.

NETGEAR Team

3 out of 5 eggsProduct doesn't match discription

Pros: 1. Very easy to set up. And it looks good too.
2. The router has good features. The interface is easy to use.
3. Very good Price, for a refurbished AC router
4. The 2.4 ghz band delivery strong signal and good range. ( but if only for that I would have kept my old N router)

Cons: 1. The product does not match the description. The router doesn't come with USB 3.0, no matter how I try, the maximum transfer rate is 4-5MB/S. Despite the fact that Newegg is selling you model R6200 V1, they list all specifications of R6200 V2 on post!!! R6200 V1 has USB 2.0 only, 128MB RAM and much weaker CPU!!! Newegg still not update its posting as I am writing this review.

2. The signal on 5 ghz band is very poor. I have problem to get a solid connection at 30 feet away from the router.

Other Thoughts: For the price ( I paid $55), This is a great AC router with good features.

1 out of 5 eggsOnly 5MB/s for 650Mbps, doesn't add up

Pros: It connects? I got an education with Newegg listings and Netgears poor quality.
it says 650Mbps connection on ac so it looks good i suppose.

Cons: Newegg lied about USB3, Unit only does 4- 5MB/s transfer for USB. I connect it with wireless, g n and ac all 5MB/s and wired still same. Of course I didnt have a external drive at the time and when i tried it end of warranty after 30 days, all same , 3 laptops ( 2 at 2.4 (g/n) at 5ac ), 1 tablet ( n) ), 1 phone ( n )

Other Thoughts: Yes it has latest firmware. yes it had proper settings, Even with the 4-5MB's genie will state high traffic, while using just 2 percent on connection?

1 out of 5 eggsheadache

Pros: 2.4 ghz worked flawlessy...but for that i would have kept my old router.

Cons: 5ghz radio was DOA...no amount of tinkering could activate it...consulted Netgear support as well who also could not rectify the situation...

Manufacturer Response:

We'd like to help -- and we thank you for contacting our support team. Were you offered a hardware replacement under warranty? We're happy to troubleshoot further and get you a replacement if needed as we want you up and running ASAP!
