5 out of 5 eggsGreat, especially for free

This review is from: NETGEAR R6200-100PAS V1 Dual Band AC 1200 Gigabit Wireless Router

Pros: - Wireless Bridge!
- Sleek looking
- No need to constantly reboot
- Best free router ever

Cons: -UI is clunky
-Not a fan of internal antennae, but I use it as a wireless bridge, anyways

Other Thoughts: Haven't used the wireless abilities on this at all. I received this router for free when I purchased the Nighthawk R7000. Was going to use it as a Wireless Repeater/AP, but coverage with the R7000 was so good I didn't have to. Instead, I have this stationed behind the entertainment center and plug our smart TV, consoles, and HTPC directly into the Gigabit Ethernet ports. Works like a charm, no issues at all.

Used to prefer Dlink, but the last few routers I've used have been total duds.

3 out of 5 eggsPretty good router

This review is from: NETGEAR R6200-100PAS V1 Dual Band AC 1200 Gigabit Wireless Router

Pros: Excellent design
Easy to use/setup

Cons: Overly big

Other Thoughts: I brought 1 set back in May when it was a combo deal, with MOTOROLA SB6141 for like $150. That one works great, I havent notice any problems with that at all. I have TWC internet with 30 mb of speed. I then brought another one a few months later with the same deal. This second one worked great for the first 2 months. After that it drops signal quite often, at random times, and for unknown amount of times. The current place im staying at has TWC with only 20mb of internet

Manufacturer Response:

We would like to help you with your second unit-- please get in contact with us by email at newegg@netgear.com. Be sure to give a detailed email describing your situation. If you have problems at any time please remember that the standard NETGEAR warranty is as follows:

1 year hardware warranty
90 days phone support
Email support is valid for warranty support period

Our apologies for the problem.

Regards,

NETGEAR Team

5 out of 5 eggsNETGEAR R6200-100PAS V1 Dual Band AC 1200 Gigabit Wireless Router

This review is from: NETGEAR R6200-100PAS V1 Dual Band AC 1200 Gigabit Wireless Router

Pros: Extremely easy setup
Easily handles all household devices. 2 laptops, 2 desktops, 2 cell phones and a tablet. Seamless streaming on all applications simultaneously
I have not once needed to reset it.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Purchased this at full retail that came with a Motorola SB6141 modem which makes the net price of the router ~$60. Fantastic deal if you're starting a new cable subscription. The pair of the 2 products has been exceptional.

1 out of 5 eggsSuper Poor Customer Tech Support

This review is from: NETGEAR R6200-100PAS V1 Dual Band AC 1200 Gigabit Wireless Router

Pros: I never write review for online purchase, Don't buy their product, their customer is very bad, they put me on hold for an hour and then hang up on me without say a word. Very bad customer service that they don't how to solve your problem, all they did was just ask your personal info and then didn't know how to fix the problem. I will return the product.

Cons: easy set up

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: NETGEAR R6200-100PAS V1 Dual Band AC 1200 Gigabit Wireless Router

Pros: 1.Value- I bought it at $70. At that price there are few AC1200 routers right now. The only other ones are less known brands or refurbished.
2.Mobile Genie - I've installed Genie, the management app, on my phone. It lets me reboot the router, view the network map, and view traffic stats.
3.User friendly- It comes out of the box with a generated password which is printed on the bottom of the unit. It's not ever required to use any software or connect to the router app. The default password is randomized but easy to remember.(ex.elephantparade660)
4.Client- The browser page is full-featured but delineated into basic and advanced options.
5.Speed- My wifi download speeds are great. I'm getting a sustained 6.2 MB/s down speed. My internet connection is 50 Mbps, so the router is running as fast as my connection will allow.

Cons: 1. The desktop genie app is terrible and useless. For advanced tasks, like firmware updates, it directs you to the browser client. It's also painful to look at, generates unwanted notices, begins on start-up by default, and continued to show a firmware update notice after I had updated.
2. The menu in the web app is a little strangely organized.
3. The default ssid is the brand name plus a number(ex. Netgear270). The literature discourages changing the default names or passwords. It would be better to leave the brand name for security.

Other Thoughts: At the price I bought it: $70, It's a great deal. Even with the small issues I see, there is no other product competitive with it. Similar routers are on sale for around $85 or more. I would still buy this router at $85. At retail of $130 there are better deals out there.

5 out of 5 eggsRMA Replacement

This review is from: NETGEAR R6200-100PAS V1 Dual Band AC 1200 Gigabit Wireless Router

Pros: My first identical product had bad hardware, so after 1 day it did not work AT ALL. However, thanks to the RMA policy I was able to get a replacement. So far, the replacement has no problems. I am using it for gaming, streaming, and downloading torrents on multiple devices without having to reset the router. Just remember to set up your port forwarding or you will disconnect from games!

Cons: The fact that I had to RMA is a con I guess. Good thing I kept my old router (can't tell the difference in speed since at most my house uses 10 Mb/sec bandwidth at any given time.

1 out of 5 eggsIntermittent Internet

This review is from: NETGEAR R6200-100PAS V1 Dual Band AC 1200 Gigabit Wireless Router

Pros: Good internet speeds on WiFi and ethernet while it lasted.

Cons: Frequent resets were necessary. Half the time, the router did not boot up properly (power light was amber, data light was amber, and wifi light was not even lit). When connecting via ethernet, half the time it would say unidentified network. A factory reset back to default settings did not work. In fact, I was not able to get it to function after the factory reset.

Manufacturer Response:

2 out of 5 eggsNetgear R6200 V1

This review is from: NETGEAR R6200-100PAS V1 Dual Band AC 1200 Gigabit Wireless Router

Pros: Easy setup, no computer needed to actually get started. Looks cool

Cons: Version 1 even with the updated firmware is not the best router netgear ever put out. Very small coverage area and the 5g band constantly looses connection to devices. I returned This after a few weeks and went with a different wireless router.

Other Thoughts: Be weary of the version one, after researching this to find what was the cause of it's issues I discovered Netgear fixed most of the issues in the version two.

Manufacturer Response:
