5 out of 5 eggsBest Investment Ever.

Pros: Does what it says it will. Also being 8 port vs. 4 port they seem to have given the server an upgrade, because I went from 7mb down consistantly on my broadband to 16mb consistantly. ALL my systems have faster access and I no longer worry about collisions in filesharing, etc.

Cons: If you turn the logs on, expect to reboot the thing every 12 hours or so... it just cannot handle it with any amount of traffic. I would imagine if you do torrents it would be every few hours. Serious flaw, but for the $ still a GREAT investment for me.

Other Thoughts: Never had problems with the power supplies on these things, but I would still suggest it be plugged into a surge suppressor you trust.

1 out of 5 eggsSame Intermittent Error

Pros: Amazing Price

Cons: Having the same error other are having with intermittent service. Makes it almost impossible to download any large files, even to perform OS updates.

Other Thoughts: Priced just low enough when on sale that your tempted to not even bother exchanging.

3 out of 5 eggsDoes the job but has quirks.

Pros: Works beautifully routing 8 computers with multiple ports forwarded and 24/7 network activity.

Cons: Web administration page will not come up after about 3 days of uptime. A quick reset will bring it back, but this is a big inconvenience if the network should not be going down. I am using v2.51.4.006 of the firmware.

Other Thoughts: There is no setting on the router itself to set 'static' IP's, you must configure these at the devices themselves.

1 out of 5 eggsFailure to launch

Pros: Arrived within expected delivery time frame. Unit is one of few to offer more than 4-ports of wired device capacity.

Cons: DOA :-(
Horrible customer support from the Linksys Hours on the phone with an agent that knew less than I did about the units configuration options and issue (defect). Adding insult to injury, the call was 'disconnected' while on hold while this fellow 'researched' the issue. NO CALL BACK even though they record detailed contact information before beginning the problem evaluation or resolution.

Other Thoughts: Newegg customer service support options are limiting. Would be a welcome option to to use a 'secured via credit card' defective unit exchange to expedite the rare occasion when a DOA device is received.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: Price, 8 ports, easy set up with supplied software

Cons: Tech support tried to sell me other tech support that I didn't need.

Other Thoughts: I replaced a 2000 SMC barracade, my internet speeds tripled and it actually works ok with my wireless access point, the SMC wouldn't do so on downloads, was seeing very low speed.

1 out of 5 eggsNightmare

Pros: You can connect 8 devices, yeah it's a router.

Cons: Bought it for the DDNS, spent 2 hours on the phone with tech support and could never get the DDNS working. Turns out to be a common complaint.
