It's compliant with Draft 802.11n, for the best possible wireless technology available today offering greater range and data speeds than the older 802.11b/g standards, (when used with compatible Draft 802.11n wireless adapters) while still being fully backwards compatible with them—perfect for mixed-mode environments.

You'll find advanced firewall and intrusion prevention (IPS) features to secure your network from external threats, including worms, DDoS attacks, and viruses and the ability to create virtual-private-network (VPN) so mobile workers can securely connect to your business network. Combine security and speed into a sweet expereince!

  • newegg Wireless-N With Wireless-N (draft 802.11n), the farther away you are, the more speed advantages you get. By overlaying the signals of multiple radios, Wireless-N's "Multiple In, Multiple Out" (MIMO) technology multiplies the effective data rates, increases the range and reduces "dead spots" in the wireless coverage area. The robust signal travels and maintains wireless connections farther and faster.
  • newegg Gigabit Network Connection The LINKSYS WRVS4400N features 1 Gigabit WAN port and 4 Gigabit LAN ports to provide up to 10X faster speeds than most 100M network connections and excellent usability for office network.
  • newegg Wireless Security The WRVS4400N incorporates advanced firewall and Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) features to secure your network from external threats including worms, DDoS attacks and viruses. The VPN tunnels provide a secure and easy-to-use solution for mobile workers to stay connected and the VPN "gateway to gateway" IPSec tunnels facilitate branch office connectivity through encrypted virtual links.
  • newegg QoS Features The integrated QoS features provide consistent voice and video performance on both wired and wireless networks for the deployment of business-quality VoIP and video applications.

3 out of 5 eggsWorked for 3 years (ALMOST)

Pros: Good looking design, easy to read indicator lights. The setup page was standard and easy to use. Worked with my Companys T1.
I used this in a small business setting with 3 wired computers and a dozen laptops and tablets.

Cons: Broke after 2.5 years of no problems. I guess nothing lasts forever. It would drop wifi and wired connections randomly and would be fixed with a reset. This was only for the last week of use. Very hard to troubleshoot random dropping, I fixed it by getting a new one.

Other Thoughts: I never used the extra security and VPN features that much, so I can't comment on that. After years of using off the shelf belkin and netgear home routers, I had hoped that a "Commercial" router like this one would fair better, but it only seemed to last as long as those household routers. In the end it probably wasn't worth the extra cost. But it did last 2.5 years of everyday use.

4 out of 5 eggsDoes the job

Pros: easy setup
good range

Cons: Not much

Other Thoughts: I've had 2 of these setup in a basement office and they provide good coverage throughout except in a couple of places but that is due to environmental issues. I've had very little trouble at all.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Quick VPN works great, VLAN is another awesome feature if you like to separate certain people from the main network. The range is very good about 250 ft +/- and awesome security feature's. This is not the average user's router so do some research but one purchase I am extremely happy with. With all the junk routers out there this one is one of the BEST. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Cons: None

4 out of 5 eggsSeen the bad reviews, got it anyway

Pros: I've had this router for almost 2 years, been nothing but happy. The router performs very well and I have noticed no slowdowns on my network. I use the VPN feature regularly with no issues. Was able to set up port forwarding exactly as i like and run a web and SMTP server behind this with no issues. I was finally able to set my Comcrap "business" router to bridge mode and have had no security problems. Uptime is 86 days as I write this (I think I rebooted a few months ago due to a settings change).

Router serves both wired and wireless clients on a gigabit network. Internal traffic is very high with media streaming from my server to multiple clients.

Cons: For some reason, I keep running into bugs when trying to use a dual IPv4 & IPv6 stack... not sure if this is because of my unfamiliarity with IPv6, other hardware on the network or what.

I would prefer using the inbuilt windows VPN clients to connet to this, but I am forced to use Cisco Quick VPN.

IPS feature seems to slow down the router, though I do keep it turned on for paranoia reasons.

Other Thoughts: I was looking for a high-reliability router for my small business network, after having terrible experiences with standard routers. I naturally turned to Cisco to find this reasonably priced router, from the former linksys business series. The negative reviews were very concerning, and I bought this one fully expecting to return it if necessary. It's served me very well and I'm highly recommending it!

1 out of 5 eggsNot Worth the Price of Entry

Pros: This thing has a ton of features for the price. It's also very easy to set everything up (relatively speaking).

Cons: Unfortunately, this router started flaking out after less than 6 months and got progressively worse fast. I was rebooting it twice a day by the ninth month. A quick search reveals that this is a common problem.

Other Thoughts: The features don't mean a thing if the router is constantly down. If I had managed to get 2 years out of this router it would be a 5 star product, but 6 months on a router at this price point is shameful. Yes, it does have a limited lifetime warranty, but they won't ship you a new router until they receive the old one (per their website) - so have a backup ready or say goodbye to the internet for a week. I'm a fan of true Cisco routers, but I'm done buying rebadged Linksys garbage.

5 out of 5 eggsworks famously

Pros: easy to set up, great security including logging to external server, VPN and DynDNS work out of the box, amazing speeds both wired and wireless, fantastic signal strength as in no dropped signal.

Cons: Little bit pricy, it doesn't file my taxes

Other Thoughts: Bought this after a rosewell router failed on many levels. This product is proof that sometimes you do get what you pay for. Which is the only real con that I ran into. $200 for a router, it should do everything and more, the nice thing is that this one does.

1 out of 5 eggsRUN RUN RUN

Pros: none

Cons: This router has nearly lost me one of my best customers. It drops the WAN connection multiple times per day. I upgraded the firmware and the problem got worse. I have lost 4 hours in labor on this product. RUN RUN RUN RUN RUN.

3 out of 5 eggsRouter with Alzheimers

Pros: Great set of features for the price. It does everything that it's advertised to do, built in PPTP server is super useful for small business.

It was a great router until it started flaking out!

Cons: After a couple of years (as with most Linksys routers) it starts getting flakey. Wireless gets intermittent. Sometimes stops passing traffic. You can reboot it and it will go for another couple of weeks. Reboots get more and more frequent until you're rebooting every four hours.

I did some research on this and it seems that Linksys uses flash memory that degrades over time. I've also seen this same behavior on their RV042 and WRT150N models.

Other Thoughts: The issues I had may have been fixed since I bought the router. I got mine about five years ago.
