1 out of 5 eggsAll the N series and AC series are junk

Pros: Thin and light

Cons: I have tried every router Linksys made since the 2.4 g routers they worked great I still have a few sitting around I use when these new Advanced units fail, I have even tested prerelease units they all had the same issues for me bad range and lockups, I took a chance with a company that just started making routers WD you should be able to figure out who that is and there N900 is near flawless compared to These units Even the NG brand same issues range and lockups!

Other Thoughts: I would go with the new guy on the block until Cisco/Linksys and there NG competitor get it right I don't know if it's software/firmware issues or just bad Hardware/QC I won't buy anything these 2 companys make for a while until I start reading 90% positive reviews and there support gets better! I would like to speak with someone in the country I purchaced it in but I doubt it will happen! there support does not fully understand me when I call we have differnt dielects here in the USA and just knowing english is not enough! also support always want's remote access to my system no way!!!!!! I run my company from my home and I have sensitive data on my systems alowing them in would cause a breach of contract for me!!!! just build a router that works as intended like you used to WD pulled it off and they just started what gives? Newegg I am not making any Comparisons to competing brands / products of competing brands just saying there is a issue with the type of router in general please allow this post it is a fair and true review and constructive criticism, I already know Linksys will comment/defend there product here and this should not be allowed it defeats the reason behind reviews!

2 out of 5 eggsWould look for something better

Pros: Bought this router a year ago and it worked pretty good for the first few months.

Cons: After awhile though the signal started to degrade and it started dropping devices (tablets, xbox's, computers, etc). Tried resetting the device, updating the devices that was connecting to the router, etc, but the problems still occurred. Now it seems like we barely go a few days without having to power cycle the device. Does not seem worth it now and I am looking into other products.

Manufacturer Response:

2 out of 5 eggsSave your money!!

Pros: Good Range, Fast Connection

Cons: Running on latest firmware. Unreliable, keeps dropping every single device in my house after 3 months of owning, ranging from cell phones, xbox, tablets, desktop, laptops. Very disappointed for the amount of money i paid for this. I have everything on Static and no IP conflicts but the problem persists.

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsdisappointing

Pros: bought this in 4/2012 from newegg. it has been working great.

Cons: i was great till it didn't work (well). i bought it in apr 2012 and wifi was fast although not as fast as its replacement (asus rt-n66u) and was reliable. but after less than 6 months, none of my devices can be connected at 802.11n.

2 out of 5 eggsNot so good

Pros: Very Fast
Good Range

Cons: Unreliable

Other Thoughts: I have used Linksys home routers for years. Upgraded from a WRT54G that has run flawlessly for 5 years.
Lasted about 6 months no problem, but kept dropping certain computers in the house. Initially blamed the older computers.
At 6 months went dark. Required hard reset and reconfigure.
Lasted a month went dark again. Now going dark every 24-48 hours. Cisco is replacing with refurbished unit. We'll see.
This is my first major disappointment in a Linksys product.

Manufacturer Response:

2 out of 5 eggsNot as reliable as my old 54G

Pros: It was fast and the Cisco Connect software was intuitive.

Cons: Purchased in December of 2011... Dead in August of 2012.

Luckily still had old WRT54G handy. Was in the middle of a project and lost all connectivity to my network.

1 out of 5 eggsNot worth the money.

Pros: It worked for 30 days

Cons: After using this router for just over 30 days it bricked. Factory reset button does nothing and very limited tech support available.

Other Thoughts: I'm now back to using my 4 year old wireless router after dropping 170$ on this plastic brick. I've shopped with NewEgg for a long time and this is the first item I've purchased where I feel like I didn't get what I payed for.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Discotech ,
We are very sorry to hear about your experience with your E4200 v2. We'd like to further help you troubleshoot your problem.

What problems did you experienced using this router? Is it a problem of the wired internet connection or the wireless connectivity? Resetting the router to factory default settings and reconfiguring the router should be one of the workarounds that can be done to resolve any issue that you might encounter using the device. By pushing the reset button on the back using a pin or a paper clip for 30 seconds should reset it to factory default settings. If it still doesn't work, you might consider upgrading the firmware of the router. After the upgrade, it is a must to do a reset on it before you reconfigure the settings.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Upgrade

Pros: I like the fact that I have dual wireless networks and a guest network in this one device. Easy setup similar to the older models of the Linksys setups.

Cons: Runs very warm not quite hot.

3 out of 5 eggsgood while it lasted

Pros: Good for about 5 months good wireless and lan connectivity
good ui could have been better This is the second rating of this device

Cons: had a severe hardware fail. Let it cool down run for about a hour then nothing but the lite on top owell rma is coming. Such is life with hot running routers

1 out of 5 eggsStud to dud in less than 6 months

Pros: Specs look good on their website.

Cons: Gets too warm/hot for environment it was in.

Other Thoughts: Like many others, wireless signal / throughput degraded quickly after a few months of ownership. No changes have resolved issue and at best dealing with customer service will get me a 'refurb' unit that will be just as bad. I bought this in Jan for nearly $200. I feel robbed from a name I trusted for many years. Never again, Cisco. Never again.
