4 out of 5 eggsLove it

Pros: Works great I have 2 phones, 1 desktop, 1 tablet, TV and 2 Xbox 360 on it and never have a problem. get wifi in whole house and even outside.

Cons: overheats but I put some little blocks under it to make legs and runs fine now with air flow under it

4 out of 5 eggsGood Router

Pros: Had it for 8 months now. Have only had to re-boot it twice. Very quick even with 3+ cell phones on Wi-Fi, two computers downloading (also via Wi-Fi), and streaming HD content on the Smart TV (Smart TV running on 5GHz, all others on 2.4GHz)

Cons: Gets really hot! I have a special table that hides the router between a hidden shelf under the top surface. The top of the table gets *hot* from the router, even though its a 1/2" piece of wood! This may cause issues in the long run...we'll see.

1 out of 5 eggsPurposely degraded product by dlink

Pros: Nice Form factor
Sd reader
speedy wireless and wired

Cons: Artificialy limited (hd fuel) Qos to 2mb/s max
ZERO support

Other Thoughts: This router has beed artificially neutered by dlink so that you buy another one as soon as your internet upload speed from your provider is more than 2mb/s.
The router disabled his automatic qos as soon as it detects a faster upload than 2mb/s witch is bad since this's router MAIN feature s its automatic qos.
Called dlink tech support about this issue and they basicaly told me to forget about it.
After i contacted their Vp about their lack of profesionalism thay anted to replace my router with a dir-865l witch is an ac router but no advanced qos witch i refused at first beacose i need qos not ac speeds. After a while i accepted theyr offer and now i am exchanging emails with them for more than 2 weeks trying to arrange something.
Still no answer.
Imagine how bad their aftersale service is when they make you wait more than 2 weeks and the support ticket was submited to them by theyr vice president Shinlin Chung.
Forget about dlink they only care about how to screw the customer as much as they can instead of manufacturing great products.

Also sry for my bad english

4 out of 5 eggsIt works fine. Lots of options.

Pros: Works as advertised. lots of options.

Cons: Expensive. Not sure it really does much more than my $40 Linksys router that I replaced.

Other Thoughts: If it lasts less than 5 years then I will be sorry I spent so much, but maybe it will last longer.

1 out of 5 eggsWorthless

Pros: Easy setup
Highly configurable
Good throughput when you're in the same room as it
Looks nice

Cons: Range (or extreme lack thereof)

Other Thoughts: i bought this as an upgrade for an earlier model D-Link 802.11g router (DI-624) that I've had for nearly a decade. I was hoping to increase the range of the network by moving to an n router. Since I was impressed with my old D-Link, I decided to stick with their brand.

Wow, am I underwhelmed.

The range on the 2.4 band is maybe, *maybe* two-thirds of what my old router had. 5 band can barely make it down the hall. You'd think I had lead in the walls. Tried every channel, switching to just particular protocols, etc. to no avail; same terrible performance. Signal on my old router would at least make it to the other side of the house (albeit weakly). This thing can't even make it half way.

I'll be going back to the DI-624 and using a powerline repeater.

5 out of 5 eggsLove This Router

Pros: This Router replaced my dlink dgl-4100 do to the need for wireless. I really like the HD Fuel, great connection for gaming. I had already looked at alot of forms for my dgl-4100 so I already knew what I need to do. I've got 4 devices running solid. It's a great router, great range and I get host alot on my favorite games.

Cons: I had it sitting flat with nothing around it and it got alittle warm. Once I moved it so air could get under it cooled down alot.

Other Thoughts: I did purchase a Dr Cool Router cooler which might be over kill but its cool to the touch now.

5 out of 5 eggsFirst D-Link Router, Hope it Lasts

Pros: Setup is straight-forward with visual guidance, give or take a few restarts due to some setup errors on my part, but even then it was forgiving, and I didn't have to setup my previous configuration when restarting.

Range is rock solid, especially on the 2.4 frequency. I still get 5 bars on the other end of the house, through walls! The 5 Ghz range is par to what I've seen before, which is not quite as far as I wish it to be, but good for 5 Ghz. No dropouts on either frequency so far.

D-Link throws out some claims about this router's ability to juggle applications, HD content streaming, and gaming. Between my PC gaming, my sibling's gaming console, and my mother's Facebook escapades, it can really juggle well.

There are plenty of options in the configuration page that come along with this router, plus some other hardware options like its USB 3.0 port, where I plan to plug in an external HDD. I have yet to try this feature however.

Also, this router doesn't blind you with LED

Cons: It's only been a day. Hopefully there will be more days like this in which it doesn't spontaneously experience Murphy's Law.

It is also on the higher side of the pricing spectrum, but from what I have seen, you get what you pay for, and perhaps a bit more.

Other Thoughts: This is my first foray into D-Link networking. I've had a rather unpleasant experience with another brand, in which 2 of their products had faulty antenna on their 2.4 Ghz frequencies. Both were also terrible at keeping up with my family's browsing/gaming, and I had suffered through frequent dropouts. This appears to be the router that I had needed all along.

4 out of 5 eggsNot Impresses

Pros: Good sysytem, works very fast, set up very easy

Cons: You have to figure a way to have it suspended in mid air or get a fan to it. The 1st day i had it set it up and had it siiting there the way it was advertised on the box "sitting flat on an upper shelf with nothing around it so it could breath. It got so hat that it turned off and i couldnt use it for hours. i built a metal shelf and from white wire shelving from HD and suspended it in the air so that top and bottom could both breathequally and it seems to be working ok now. it has gotten a little slower though

Other Thoughts: Im giving this thing 2 weeks b4 i decide to keep it or not. Because i bought the #1 rated router for a reason. It better live up to the hype

4 out of 5 eggslovin the dual so far

Pros: Lots of options, rock solid so far, numerous parental controls options, decent build and looks, decent web interface, auto setup worked well out of box when i actually followed their directions

Cons: not cheap, 5GHZ coverage seems a bit weaker than the 2. almost overwhelming possibilities for config if you are not a networking guru it can seem daunting at first. no wall mount options.

4 out of 5 eggs2nd for Needs firmware update

Pros: USB 3.0, Ubicom processor for great QoS for juggling todays bandwidth hungry services like FTP servers, streaming TV through providers like Hulu or netflix, online gaming, etc.

Cons: Yeah, the QoS doesn't work if you have a upload connection over 2Mbps. I've followed Gitsum at and D-Links support forums with my own comments and questions about this issue.

Other Thoughts: D-Link just put an updated Firm Ware (1.02) for this router today 2-29-12 which does NOT fix the QoS issue. Now, instead of the Advanced / QOS Engine page measured uplink speed saying "Not Estimated," it now says "Your broadband internet connection has surpassed the uplink measurement requirement." Why would they bother to change that in the firmware and not even address the issue? It's been driving me kinda nuts for over two months trying out many different settings. However, I gotta agree with Gitsum that this thing should rock once they finally get it fixed. By the way Oz, 5 Ghz range has always been shorter than 2.4 Ghz and probably always will be. This is true of every dual band router produced, so far.
