The 300Mbps Concurrent Dual Band Wireless N Access Point provides high performance wireless n speed, coverage, and managed controls.

Concurrent Dual Band technology creates two separate wireless n networks at the same time one on the 2.4GHz frequency and the other on the less congested 5GHz frequency. Assign high bandwidth clients to the uncongested 5GHz frequency and low bandwidth clients to the more common 2.4GHz frequency.

Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) antenna technology reduces wireless dead spots. Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) integrates other WPS supported devices at the touch of a button. Advanced features include 4 SSIDs per wireless band, access filters for each SSID, WMM Quality of Service data prioritization, WPA2-RADIUS encryption, and real-time bandwidth monitoring for each wireless band.

1 out of 5 eggsUnreliable Access Point

Pros: Seemed to work fine, that lasted about 2 months

Cons: And then started malfunctioning...our computers would randomly lose connection to the point we had to abandon this access point

Other Thoughts: Tech support was awful...somewhere in India I think...they say they'll call back and never do...I strongly recommend against dealing with Trendnet.

4 out of 5 eggsWPA2 Unstable; WPA Seems Fine So Far

Pros: (My first wireless installation!) Easy setup. Like the config-backup feature (haven't tested restore, however). Besides the WPA2 hassles, biggest hassle for me was teaching my LAN server/router/firewall to recognize 192.168.10.x addresses as local (was previously narrowed to 192.168.0.x), which was not TrendNet's fault at all. Signal strength in four-story townhouse good, but did relocate device from basement to first floor to improve it anyway.

Cons: Unstable WPA2. No warning that new "admin" password being entered is too long, this threw me for awhile as I couldn't log back in until I did factory reset and experimented. Could use a persistent/static, more-detailed event log. Firmware on device says "v1.0.2" but the v1.0.2.3 download from the site results in the same thing, which wasted a bit of time. Tools/Diagnostic/Ping doesn't seem to work ("Network is unreachable" for 192.168.0.x addresses); maybe supports only 192.168.10.x, but that's not obvious from the tool's page (and it can definitely "see" an internal-only web server at 192.168.0.1, so that works fine). Unclear what I should do in terms of antennae positioning. 5G seems to work fine from my Windows 7 laptop.

Other Thoughts: I ran into the WPA2-unreliability issue when I configured "Highest" (WPA2) security for both 2.4G and 5G. Backing down one "level" to WPA seems, at first blush, to have worked around the problem, which was observed on my Droid 2 (but not my Windows 7 laptop, though I didn't test that much).

(Note that I did not myself observe the unit "rebooting" when WPA2 was configured, because it was out of my sight most of these times.)

The behavior I observed: initial attempts to connect would often succeed then drop for minutes at a time, then might finally succeed, perhaps even stay connected for a long period. (Non-wireless DHCP server helped evidence the short-term success: the logs would show my Droid 2 requesting and being given an IP address, shortly before the Droid's wireless setup panel showed the wireless connection as disconnected, after which it would soon retry.)

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very cheap for concurrent 2.4 and 5 ghz 802.11n coverage.

Cons: Unstable with WPA2 (AES/TKIP/Mix) enabled. On reboot, and unpredictably thereafter, the access point will go into a state of constant rebooting every 15 sec. - 2 minutes. Then eventually it stops, sometimes after a couple of hours. The wireless connection is effectively unusable during this time. These symptoms were not observed with encryption disabled. I did not test WEP encryption.

Other Thoughts: The only firmware available at the time of writing is the initial release.

5 out of 5 eggsNo Nonsense Dual-Band

Pros: Very easy to configure and get online. Does everything it says. No frills. Basic dual-band wireless-N access point. TrendNET web site has an emulator link if you want to look at the options available in the web interface before you buy.

Cons: Not overly feature rich. Doesn't support PoE.

Other Thoughts: As the old saying goes; has everything you need and nothing you don't. It gets the job done. But if you're looking for higher end features like PoE support and rogue AP detection you'll need to look elsewhere. Overall it's a great value for the money. As always with these devices, check for updated firmware BEFORE installing. Makes things SO much smoother.

Pros: Purchased two of these. One works like a champ. Easy to configure. No problems whatsoever.

Cons: Purchased two of these. One DOA.

Other Thoughts: Stinks having to pay for shipping for an item that is deffective.
