TPL-308E2K Powerline 200 AV Nano Adapter Kit

TRENDnet Logo

The Powerline 200 AV Nano Adapter Kit, model TPL-308E2K, uses an electrical outlet to create a secure high speed network. Connect the first adapter to your network and plug the second adapter into an outlet on your electrical system for instant high speed network access. The compact form factor saves space around crowded electrical outlets. This adapter automatically connects to other TRENDnet Powerline AV adapters with no installation required - TRENDnet recommends pressing the 'Sync' button to automatically change default encryption keys.

Use up to four adapters to network devices in different rooms without running new cabling. Power Save mode reduces power consumption by up to 70%. Quality of Service technology prioritizes video, audio, and online gaming. LED displays convey device status for easy troubleshooting. Advanced 128-bit AES encryption secures your network. This adapter is ideal for use in buildings that interfere with wireless networking signals.

5 out of 5 eggsEASY! Remote Building with remote panel WORKS!

Pros: Cheap.. Works...Easy. Included software shows master and remote if the connection is made. Working with approx 200' separation thru a remote distribution panel even with both panels having Whole Home surge protection units installed.

Cons: Setup is simple as can be: plug it in. However, the included software is a bit confusing. 'Do I need this?' 'Should I set a group name?' 'What does diagnostics actually do?'
This didn't work when first plugged in.

Other Thoughts: I knew from reading the reviews for this and other brands that in the remote building the only possibility of a working link would be if the units were on the same leg of the power feed. The first couple of plugs I tried the remote in gave no connection and I got a bit worried, but the third plug linked right up. Finally, I have reliable connections in a remote building with its own power distribution panel. Yes, this panel does feed from the main's panel, so the lines are tied together. Unlike multiple attempts with wireless bridge/client/AP/..... that required resets, only worked in clear weather, only one user at a time please I'm overloading and if the microwave wasn't running, this just works.
I'm not getting 200Mbps, but I wasn't even sure they would connect. Speed shows 50Mbps connection with a steady 4ms ping and I'm fine with that. Hope they last a while. For the money, I can buy a few sets and still be ok.

4 out of 5 eggsGood but not Great

Pros: -Price
-Works out of the box
-Easy to setup
-Stable (unlike Wireless adapters)

Cons: I noticed that during high-traffic time I get lower speeds with this adapter vs. a wired connection. I think it has to do with the source being shared with other connections. Still though I had to remove an egg since it's not specified that the speed will be reduced with several connectors (that were already wired).

Other Thoughts: Overall, I would recommend this Internet Power Adapter. It is a great replacement for running several Internet cables around your house.

1 out of 5 eggsfail product

Pros: cool item if it worked. very helpful

Cons: Advertised speeds up to 200mbs. Never went over 30mbs. All are on the same circuit in a one story house the next room over. Died one week after 30 day warranty expired, wont even power on. Got a made in china sticker out of this purchase, thats about it. Will avoid trendnet in the future. Well played though...they got a quick buck from me.

4 out of 5 eggsEasy to setup to extend wired network

Pros: Easy setup especially for the homes that do not have preinstalled Ethernet jacks and need to extend their wired network.

Cons: Slow speed but it is expected due to the overhead and real world usage.

Other Thoughts: It's a much faster way of extending a wired network to part of the home which are not equipped with Ethernet port.

5 out of 5 eggsActually works

Pros: Finished installing and testing it within five minutes of it arriving. Plug and play with a simple pair button. Speedtest using my laptop on wifi vs the powerline cable the speeds were identical. Can prob find an ethernet card that less expensive but i'd rather leave out the part for better airflow.
Will comment later if I notice any connection stability issues but has been working fine.

Cons: Now I need a new reason to sledgehammer a wall down;)

Other Thoughts: power save mode is on point

2 out of 5 eggsUpdated review

Pros: Easy to install, plug in the router side first and then the PC side and it should work.

Cons: After a short amount of time, connection slowed down to dial up speed. I tried refreshing the connection. The little button on each unit. No good, connect still slow. I pulled this out and installed my wireless card again. Back in business with it.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic

Pros: Works without a hitch.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I would consider the higher end model for faster speeds in the future. But this set gave me great connection at the far end of my home where the wireless signal is somewhat weak.

5 out of 5 eggsWork great

Pros: Easy set up, consistency, price

Cons: Limited to only three adapters for plug ins, not counting the router plug (total of four)

Other Thoughts: No problems with them working. But I bought these powerline adapters knowing they only allowed three access points for use on my system, but they were cheap and I figured I could use my wireless to handle the rest. I will give myself more room to expand next time.

5 out of 5 eggsEasy setup

Pros: Very easy for setup! Plug in both direct into wall, connect device, done. Very surprise and very happy. Very rare good experience that this is so simple. Great jobs, TRENDnet, keep us the good works.

Cons: After first installation the connection lost in network, not sure why? But, unplug and plug it back into the wall connection, all works well and steady now.
