5 out of 5 eggsFast and Easy

Pros: Very easy to setup. I bought this extender to plug my HP Laserjet all in one printer to the network port and extend the wifi range in my condo. My HP printer did not have wifi and I wanted to print wirelessly from my iphone, ipad, and all other computers in the house. Works like a charm and my wifi connection is very stable from the extender.

Cons: non so far

Other Thoughts: Make sure to place this extender at the mid point of where you need the signal and not at the end of your office or house.

1 out of 5 eggsdisappointed

Pros: easy setup

Cons: The extender is a misnomer.
The signal was boasted from one bar to 3 bars. However the actual speed test show a drop from 3.5 mbps to a mere 0.18 Mbps. 3.5 Mbps is my maximum speed and of course it does not work. The light is blinking green meaning it seems to work. By the way I have an existing Trendnet Tew-736re with double antenna which has worked perfectly all these 2 years. It can boast signal from 1 bar to 5 bars and give me the maximum speed.
i want to return this nano rubbish for the old one.

1 out of 5 eggsAdrian TRENDnet Support Team not helpful

Pros: no

Cons: The product does not work as expected. Connection drops every a few hours, as I posted in a review before. Adrian TRENDnet Support Team posted comment, and asked to contact them if problem not solved.
I have emailed adrian@trendnet.com with "Newegg TEW-713RE Review" in the subject line, but got no reply

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsQuick and easy setup and works well

Pros: This device was very easy to setup initially. Just plugged it into a laptop's network jack, setup the connection and had it find the WiFi signal and all was good. It improved the range of past extenders we've used, and seem to be much more reliable. Had two of these a couple months, and will probably order more.

Cons: Do wish it had an external antenna to boost even more.

Other Thoughts: I bought a couple of these for a Public WiFi setup in a retail location. There were dead spots in the store, and these fixed that problem easily and quickly. Will continue to buy more if and when needed. Plus you can't beat the price. I read a lot of folks having problems with them, but nobody seems to understand radio signals, and that if you had connectivity issues before a device like this will most likely make things worse. Fix the real issues first, then determine if you need a range extender. WiFi is not the perfect radio signal and can be interrupted by a LOT of things.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks as expected. Great value

Pros: Works great out the box. WPS syncing with my Linksys WRT610N router went flawlessly. Signal strenght is good so far. Have no complaints especially for the price.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Great product that works right out of the box with no drops in signal or issues thus far. Would definitely recommend to those who are getting weaker signals in parts of their homes through a combination of signal interference or physical factors.

1 out of 5 eggsIt's garbage

Pros: Easy set-up

Cons: Doesn't work worth a darn

Other Thoughts: Yes, easy to set up and it will work -- momentarily. Constantly dropping the signal, just like everyone here says. A big pain in the rear.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Valued Customer,

I apologize for the overall frustration this has caused. Just for your reference that wireless devices won’t necessarily switch connection to TEW-713RE even at a closer distance when they still can maintain connection to wireless router/AP in range. Under this situation, connections are prone to disconnect because of weaker signal due to possible interference from a farther distance. So, I would suggest to install InSSIDer on your device and verify if the range extender or access point SSID is connected as indicated by a blue star icon. If devices still experience disconnect when connecting to TEW-713RE, please email me directly at adrian@trendnet.com with "Newegg TEW-713RE Review" in the subject line and I will be able to assist you immediately to resolve this issue. Thanks you for taking the time to review our product.

Warm Regards, Adrian TRENDnet Support Team

1 out of 5 eggsconnection drops every a few hours

Pros: reasonable price, easy to set up

Cons: connection is very unreliable. it drops connection every day. The longest period of time it keeps connection is about 14 hours, and average time is about 4-6 hours. Very annoying. even worse, newegg does not take return on this item.
If you are not mad at yourself, stay away.

Other Thoughts: I hope it was just mine had problem, but apparently it is a common issue.
I hope newegg can accept return on this bad product.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Graham,

Please accept our apologies for this range extender not working as promised. Per the Wi-Fi roaming technology, once wireless devices connect to a network(SSID)it won’t drop or switch to other networks till wireless signal is too weak to maintain connections. So, I am wondering if your devices are still connecting to your router, instead of this range extender(same SSID) even at a closer distance. If possible, please install InSSIDer on your device and verify if the range extender or access point SSID is connected as indicated by a blue star icon. If devices connect to TEW-713RE and you still experience disconnections, please email me directly at adrian@trendnet.com with "Newegg TEW-713RE Review" in the subject line and I will contact you immediately to go through placement and resolve your issue ASAP. Thanks you for taking the time to review our product.

Warm Regards,

2 out of 5 eggsMIght work for some WiFi devices

Pros: Might work for some WiFi devices that are compatible with RaLink chipset.

Cons: Will not work with other clients, such as Nook HD+. Nook HD+ still sees this TrendNet as a very weak signal and prefers my Cisco M20 router. When brought closer to TrendNet, Nook reluctantly connects to it instead to Cisco, however no Internet is provided (probalby IP is not provided by DNS built into TrendNet??).

Other Thoughts: Upon receiving the unit immediately download the signal strength monitoring software, such as InSSIDer, which is available for Windows and Android. This will show you if the TrendNet extender really extends anything. When I installed InSSIDer on my Nook HD+ from Google Play, it showed that even at the maximal distance between the router and the extender, the extender signal strength was comparable to the router (Cisco M20) signal strength. And M20 does not even have antennae! If moved even further, the extender will not see the router. In other words, within any working router/extender geographies, Nook sees the TrendNet signal as very weak (-60 dB) and therefore unworthy to listen to compared to the primary signal of the router.

On the other hand, maybe you are lucky and other WiFi "appliances" will have no such incompatibility issues.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Alexander51,

We apologize for the frustration this has caused due to a weak signal. If not mistaken, from the location of TEW-713RE, the Cisco M20 still can provide wireless coverage so that your devices maintain connection to it which is normal about wireless roaming. In other words, a new connection to TEW-713RE will build when connection to the Cisco M20 is dropped and receiving signal is weaker than -60dBm. So, it’s very important to pick a proper location for this range extender where you can locate power outlets and stronger receiving signal from TEW-713RE as compared to that from Cisco M20. Under this situation, I would suggest to re-start wireless connection to TEW-713RE, not the Cisco M20, with help of InSSIDer. If these still don’t help, please contact me directly at adrian@trendnet.com with "Newegg TEG-713RE Review" in the subject line and I will be able to contact you immediately.

Warm Regards,

Adrian TRENDnet Support Team

1 out of 5 eggskeep loosing connectivity

Pros: pretty easy to setup.

Cons: 1st one was DOA, the replacement setup ok, but keep loosing the connection from time to time as describe by other reviewers. Well I read all the reviews before buying, I guess the price reduction pull me into buying it. Trendnet should come up with a Firmware fix instead of keep apologizing to the reviewers. Need action not talk. This tells me to stay away from Trendnet.

Other Thoughts: Could be a good product if they are willing to fix the issues.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello TRENDnet Customer,

I understand your frustration and concern. Fortunately, I have been able to help people to get their TEW-713RE up and running and I would like to share with you about things to note. First of all, users need to have a proper placement, not too far or too close, of TEW-713RE to home router this can help to extend coverage. Secondly, your wireless clients will connect to only one that has a stronger wireless signal from TEW-713RE or home router when their SSID are the same. Wireless clients’ connections won’t drop till wireless signal is too weak to maintain connection. Most computers, tablets, or smart phones won’t display two same SSID from router/AP and TEW-713RE. So, very possibly users won’t be sure which device your clients are connecting to. You may install an InSSIDer shareware, http://www.metageek.net/, on your computing device to help you. Once it is found out then it will be easy to tell which connection is not working, either to home router or TEW-713RE. Please email me at adrian@trendnet.com with “Newegg TEW-713RE” in the subject line and I will contact you immediately. I am looking forward to your reply soon and hope to restore your faith in TRENDnet.

Warmest regards,

Adrian

2 out of 5 eggsNot ready for home use, yet

Pros: Was easy to setup. I did a firmware update & setup the extender from laptop hooked up to the router. When it works, it does a good job. I have Windows 8.1 64-bit computers & an AT&T U-Verse router.

Cons: Does not keep connection. It's constantly losing signal/connection every 1/2 hour or so that I have to unplug or reset it. Tried all different locations around the house but it still loses connection. It might not be complaitable with 64-bit computers or the AT&T U-Verse router but who knows.

Other Thoughts: Constantly loosing connection, look for other brand if you can so stay away from this

Manufacturer Response:

Hello TRENDnet Customer,

We apologize for any inconveniences due to loss of connection. I will suggest to install an InSSIDer shareware, http://www.metageek.net/, on your computing device to help have a proper placement of TEW-713RE.
