5 out of 5 eggsFantastic router

Pros: I got this router (not from NewEgg since it was already discontinued) to use it as a repeater bridge once loaded with DD-WRT firmware. Read instructions on how to install it from the DD-WRT info pages and you should be OK IF YOU UNDERSTAND FOLLOW DIRECTIONS TO THE LETTER. I never used the stock firmware so I cannot say anything about it. With DD-WRT it works flawlessly - it works for weeks and months without a reboot. Two wired devices - PC and printer - attached to it, plus a couple of laptops, PS3 and smartphones connected wireless. Even being a G router, games could be played no problem.

Cons: Does not come with DD-WRT from the factory; it does not make your coffee in the morning.

Other Thoughts: If you do not have N clients, this one can be a good choice for you. I have since moved to N routers flashed with DD-WRT but I keep this one as a backup since it is a brilliant unit; I have since flashed the VPN version of DD-WRT so I can take with me overseas and watch Netflix from outside the US

5 out of 5 eggsPretty Solid

Pros: I got this router because I wanted to play around with dd-wrt and have a back up router for my home office. As luck would have it my former Zyxel x550 crapped out so I'm using this full time now. It's stable and reliable thus far, almost never needs rebooting. Wireless range is decent, not great, but does cover my small (1000 sq ft) house at over 75% signal. I run a wired PC plus a linux server with ports 80 and 22 forwarded plus a wireless connection to a laptop and it seems to handle it reasonably well, with some speed issues (see cons). All in all it's a good router when flashed with dd-wrt, especially given the price.

Cons: Throughput seems a little slow, especially given the 240mhz cpu. For wired and wireless connections, it's noticeably slower than my Zyxel x550 was (not that I'm recommending that one, since it crapped out). Transferring files wirelessly via winSCP can't get more than 2meg/sec ... which is okay, just not stellar. I use a IPsec VPN connection for work and there is some noticeable slowness, almost pausing, when running that. Now, VPN itself is the cause of network slow down, but again, it wasn't AS slow when using the prior router as it is with this one.
Some minor gripes:
Doesn't come with a vertical stand base plate? Other Buffalo models do but this one doesn't and i like to stand it vertically.
The included network cable is really short.

Other Thoughts: Streams well with my Apple Airport express connecting to it as a wireless client and streaming music to it with iTunes. Can't comment on the stock firmware as i never used it.
Flashing with DD-WRT was a bit of a pain, but well worth it once done. Very good documentation for installing on the DD-WRT wiki specific for Buffalo products.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat router

Pros: Great router. Easy enough for anybody to set-up. Firmware is also enough to keep internet leechers out. The (default and non removable) antenna is enough to get good service on my psp thru my house.

Cons: For more advanced users the firmware is not all that great. I'm not going to take the rating down because of this because you can just load up dd-wrt.

Other Thoughts: I bought this router with an average understanding of networking and routers. I have since added dd-wrt as a result of an earlier review and referral by a friend. NOTE: do not flash dd-wrt unless you have a good understanding of what you are doing or you could brick your router.

5 out of 5 eggsEasy to set up.

Pros: I have tried many routers before and since I am not that good with computer network set ups, they all didn't seem to work at all. I bought this brand due to a recommendation. To my surprise it was very easy to set up, I didn't have to go to the IP address to set up encryption, it was set up with the install CD. Everything was easy. And it works fine. Speed is very fast, range is not bad. If you are somewhat computer/networking challenged, get this brand, you will be using wifi in no time.

Cons: nothing yet

Other Thoughts: Price is also comparable. It makes it a great buy.

5 out of 5 eggsThis thing rocks!!!

Pros: everything. I bought this router knowing i was going to load the dd-wrt firmware on it but thought i would give the stock firmware a shot. it worked pretty well for the majority of what i needed to do except for one thing. My mother lives next door over 150 ft away and to save on internet we serve her wireless and she pays half the bill. well with stock firmware she kept dropping signal. i loaded dd-wrt and boost the signal strength a bit and she is rockin. with a min 85% signal with no drops

Cons: the stock firmware but i didnt really count this against it since i knew i was going to be using dd-wrt. also how many ppl actually plan to send their wireless signal next door lol

Other Thoughts: if you just need the wireless in your own house and you are a basic user with no special requirements as far as port forwarding, mac filtering, hotspot login use the stock firmware. if this is not you and you are a real tweaker and guru get the router pop in the dd-wrt and have a blast. there are literally dozens more things you can do with this router after adding the new f-ware

1 out of 5 eggsinfo for users

Pros: None

Cons: see previous review

Other Thoughts: For manual configuration change the network IP address on a PC plugged into the router to 192.168.11.50 log into router setup by typing 192.168.11.1 (for router) or 192.168.11.100 ( if router is turned off by switch on the bottom) Type above into your web browser when it comes up enter root as user name and click next (there is no password) this will get you in but router still will not work as an access point.

5 out of 5 eggsBuffalo WHR-G125 Wireless Router

Pros: Stable router, inexpensive, and using tftp is flashable to the ddwrt firmware. Functionability is an A+.....

Cons: None really that i can think of.

Other Thoughts: I've been wanting to get my son's xbox360 setup but my primary router(linksys WRT54GL) is across the house, and running a 35ft cable is not acceptable. Mainly also I didn't want to spend the full amount on the xbox360 standard wireless adapter, and seen this as a great cheaper alternate solution knowing it can handle the ddwrt firmware. Installed ddwrt on this router, bridged it to my primary linksys and this thing works perfect! I saved money and the 360 is now connected.

5 out of 5 eggsBuffalo G125 wireless router

Pros: Easy to set up with provided CD.
Faster than my previous router.
Works with Call of Duty Multiplayer without any port forwarding etc.

Cons: Would have been easier to set up if I also had a buffalo wireless network adapter. I had an MSI one purchased from Newegg and was able to set it up manually

Other Thoughts: I initially was going to flash with dd-wrt, however, decided to try the provided CD. I had 1 wireless and 2 wired computers all with internet. Now the rest of my family can play COD without pulling the cable out of the router and putting it in the DSL modem.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Router

Pros: Good router. Seems to be faster than my last one.

Cons: I bought 2 of these and was planing on using the other as a access point (or bridge, what ever). After a hour and a half with tech support they told me it wasn't going to work. They noted it was unusual.
Not wall mountable.

Other Thoughts: I haven't got the wireless working yet. So i have no comment on that.

5 out of 5 eggsLoved it with DD-WRT installed

Pros: Fast
Good Connection
Easy to flash with dd-wrt
100% supported by dd-wrt

Cons: 1 non-removable antenna
White (I have a black stand for it, so the contrast between the two isnt that great)
Have to use a batch file to easily load ddwrt onto it

Other Thoughts: Well, i got this and immediately flashed dd-wrt onto it, the batch script dd-wrts wiki has makes it amazingly easy. This was a nice upgrade from my old wrt54g v6
