This gives you incredible protection against identity and bandwidth thieves.
Comments: I just recently purchased this new router and just can't say enough about its design and performance. Having had two abject disasters with two Netgear wireless routers this, so far, looks to be the ticket. The first noticeable affect was the substantial increase in the through-put with my other networked machines. If I had one criticism it would be that the set-up instructions are not the clearest or most logical. I DO READ DIRECTIONS and try to follow manuals. As a dentist I had to. I am no "techy", just a retired dentist with an enthusiastic interest/passion for computers since 1983. I only mention this to help and colour my critique for anyone reading this. I am no expert, but, not a frustrated beginner either. I would strongly recommend anyone looking into this company's products. EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!

Good Router
Reviewed By: Razz on 8/24/2009
Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 week to 1 month
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: 1. Can flash to 3rd Party Firmware.
2. Decent Range.
3. Reliable Connection when in range.
Cons: 1. Range is not as good as my D-LINK DWL-220AP (That failed after 3 years)
Other Thoughts: 1. Never really tested Buffalo Firmware, upgraded to Tomato v1.25 for first hour I had it.
2. Then changed to Tomato RAF firmware mod (v1.25.8515 ND) [wl0_corerev = 9 on mine] Slight improvement over Tomato v1.25.
3. Notice RSSI and Signal quality dropped when using WPA or WPA2 vs. open quite significantly.
4. Obtaining about 18 Mbps throughput.
5. Adjusting Transmit power did not really effect RSSI or Quality.
6. Enabling RX Sensitivity increased RSSI and quality.
7. Had no luck with AfterBurner Enabled, Transmit rate decreased.
Pros: Nice range, and can be flashed with better firmware.
Cons: They do not stand the test of time.
Other Thoughts: Owned 3 of these so I think I can judge their reliability. The first had to be returned to Buffalo after two months. Buffalo took nearly a month to replace it. The replacement lasted about 20 months (we are business oriented and not heavy users or gamers). Still I believed we were just unlucky and bought a new one. It came with foreign conf. pages and after an hour wait on Buffalo Tech S, told I had to return it. Linksys is just better.

The Very Best 54G Router Ever Made!
Reviewed By: Known1 on 2/6/2010
Tech Level: high - Ownership: more than 1 year
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: This is the best Wireless G router sold in the USA period! Rock solid with any firmware. I've used one of my 4 units in extreme temperature conditions (-10F) and it never misses a beat. Excellent logging abilities, easy to use GUI, perfect if you know your stuff! Excellent 24x7 US based tech support is always worth a mention.
Cons: The documentation is somewhat lacking. If you don't have experiance with networking and configurting a router I would still recommend that you purchase this item. The tech support more than makes up for this con! They will have you up and running in no time.
Other Thoughts: This company is JiGiganormis in Asia. I personally own 2 of these units and have been recommending them for years. In fact I just had a family member toss out their old LinkSys WRT54G (that was totally flaking out after 3 years) and go with this. Immediately they noticed a difference in range and throughput.

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: The best router - for what it does - there ever was.
Cons: Short ftp window for initial firmware flush.
Other Thoughts: The new(er) Buffalo has switched to the Ralink chipset. (Unlike this router which is Broadcomm.) Its a very good thing since Broadcom couldn't hold the candle to Ralink.
