Great price, fantastic performance! My DFI's onboard Realtek 8110SB gigabit controller was garbage. Massive CPU utilization ...

5 out of 5 eggsVery Small and Very Nice

Pros: Very Very Small! Which is a good thing! System recognized this card no problem. Installed the drivers provided and was instantly online!

Haven't tried the gigabit, as I have no use for it at the moment. I don't think there will be any problems, though, when I upgrade my backbone to gigabit.

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: I had to purchase this because the one on my new Motherboard didn't work and I didn't want to go through the hassle of RMA.

4 out of 5 eggsNice little card, lots of tin whiskers

Pros: Small. Low profile and standard brackets included. Tiny. Good MAC/PHY.

Cons: The Marvell chip had lots of tin whiskers and oxidation. I had to touch up the soldering work around the IC. It looked like it had been reworked by hand. One of the drawbacks to RoHS is the lead-free solder often grows tin whiskers. It happens.

Other Thoughts: No reason to stay away from this one at all. Solid card.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks right out of the box

Pros: Works right out of the box. Simple plug and play- drivers automatically downloaded in Windows 7.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Bought to replace failed onboard RealTek Ethernet controller (as apparently many others with similar RealTek chipset have). Marvell chipset +1, RealTek chipset 0.

4 out of 5 eggsGood card for any OS

Pros: Works plug&play on Linux, FreeBSD, Windows, MacOS X.
Low profile backet, which I actually use.
Inexpensive.

Cons: Not as CPU efficient as Intel GbE.

Other Thoughts: Marvell Yukon 2 chipset is far better than RealTek (no jumbo, terrible CPU eater), but half a step behind Intel in terms of flexibility (like jump packet up to 9000 while Intel does 16k) and CPU utilization.
Jumbo packet 9000bytes should be sufficient, however.

3 out of 5 eggsWorking card but does not seems to be new

Pros: Card worked out of box. I did installed the latest driver from Marvell's website. No complains about the functionality and performance of the card so sar.

Cons: The card does not seemed to be new. There is dust on the PCB board, the PCI-E contact seems have been inserted in the slot before. And worst of all the card is not packed using anti-static package in the box.

Other Thoughts: Since the card is working fine and cheap, I am not considering return it. But I will have a second though when purchasing Rosewill product through newegg next time.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat card with one glitch

Pros: - Inexpensive
- PCI-e
- Comes with low profile bracket, nice touch
- works (mostly)

Cons: - Won't matter to most people, but the chipset used in this card (Marvell Yukon 88E8053) while supported by FreeBSD is unstable. Initializes, but will fail under heavy data transfer. Can be tweaked to work (disable MSI) but you likely want a different card.
- Since most people won't be using this card with FreeBSD (Freenas) not a biggie.

4 out of 5 eggsInitial setup looks great

Pros: Cheap. Got in a combo w/Rosewill gigabit switch for 5 bucks more then just buying the card. It was automatically detected in Ubuntu Linux 10.04 and Windows 7 64-bit, both OS's had drivers already available. Included mini bracket would be very helpful if I was going to put this in a smaller case, and the card itself is VERY small.

Cons: Minor beef, the drivers on the Rosewill website (which are just the marvell drivers in a renamed archive) are from back in Sept of '09, latest drivers on the marvelll site are dated 2/15/10.

Other Thoughts: Using this (and the switch) in a fileserver on a mixed 100/1000Mb network, after the built-in NIC died and I couldn't be without the server long enough to RMA the board. Will see how it looks 6 months down the road.

4 out of 5 eggsexcellent for the price

Pros: Works with Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2.
Drivers easily available from manufacturers website.

Cons: Box looked a little weathered, but this isn't really an issue.

Other Thoughts: I purchased it to replace my on-board NIC that was failing to work properly with later versions of Windows and Windows Server.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Card

Pros: Easy to use, inexpensive Gigabit card. Installation was performed using the latest drivers from their website. I didn't even bother with the disk. Works perfectly on a custom built XP Pro box.

Cons: None
