3 out of 5 eggsGood card, but...

This review is from: Rosewill RNX-N900PCE, Dual Band Wireless N900 Wi-Fi Adapter, IEEE 802.11a/11b/11g/11n, Up to 450Mbps(5.0GHz) + 450Mbps(2.4GHz) Wireless Data Rates, PCI E Interface, 3 External Detachable Antennas

Pros: - Easy install
- Fast, but not as advertised

Cons: - Windows 8 / 8.1 drivers are terrible
If you get this and have Windows 8 or higher, DO NOT install drivers on the disk.

Other Thoughts: FOR THOSE HAVING CONNECTION ISSUES (Windows 8):

I'll put this here because Rosewill has a terrible page with no assistance whatsoever.

Since I cannot give you a direct link, Google "RNX-N900PCE drivers" and find Rosewill's site. There will be a downloads section. Download the driver that the site says is compatible with your OS. Meaning, if you have Windows 8.1 DO NOT download the "Windows 8" drivers, download the drivers that say "Windows 8.1."
Once you have the right driver downloaded, extract it to your desktop, or wherever you like. Now hit the Windows key to bring up the metro, in the top right corner, click the magnifying glass and search for Device Manager. Open that up, and expand Network adapters. Right click Qualcomm Atheros (It will either say Osprey or AR93X, Windows has no idea) and click "Update Driver Software." Select Browse my Computer, and then browse to the driver you extracted, select 32 bit or 64 bit depending on your OS and let it update. There, no more connection issues or BSODs.

Docking two eggs.

2 out of 5 eggsboo berries

This review is from: Rosewill RNX-N900PCE, Dual Band Wireless N900 Wi-Fi Adapter, IEEE 802.11a/11b/11g/11n, Up to 450Mbps(5.0GHz) + 450Mbps(2.4GHz) Wireless Data Rates, PCI E Interface, 3 External Detachable Antennas

Pros: It was super easy to install, and worked amazingly.... for about a month.

Cons: Stopped working, I had to detach the antennas maybe about 5 times, because I had to move parts unrelated to this part. However I guess the antennas are very delicate, because I saw a massive drop in my internet quality after I moved them a bunch. I had to go back to using a wired connection because of the slow crawl the damaged antennas put me at.

Other Thoughts: good card, just incredibly fragile.

3 out of 5 eggsDont expect too much range

This review is from: Rosewill RNX-N900PCE, Dual Band Wireless N900 Wi-Fi Adapter, IEEE 802.11a/11b/11g/11n, Up to 450Mbps(5.0GHz) + 450Mbps(2.4GHz) Wireless Data Rates, PCI E Interface, 3 External Detachable Antennas

Pros: easy install and setup

Cons: range

Other Thoughts: Bought this card to replace an old dlink range booster G single antenna, was getting 2/5 bar and 4.9mbs. installed the new card with router still on G network, only geting a glimpsy 2/5-3/5 bar 6.8mbs. Switched router to N network and now run full available speed 4/5 bar. Not bad but was expecting more compared to old model. The only real difference was made switching network type.

1 out of 5 eggsComplete Garbage!

This review is from: Rosewill RNX-N900PCE, Dual Band Wireless N900 Wi-Fi Adapter, IEEE 802.11a/11b/11g/11n, Up to 450Mbps(5.0GHz) + 450Mbps(2.4GHz) Wireless Data Rates, PCI E Interface, 3 External Detachable Antennas

Pros: Range

Cons: Installed in my HTPC so it not powered up all the time so it is quite inconvenient as the card dumps the driver every 2-3 reboots.

Other Thoughts: Installed on a Win 7 64-Bit machine

5 out of 5 eggsGets the job done

This review is from: Rosewill RNX-N900PCE, Dual Band Wireless N900 Wi-Fi Adapter, IEEE 802.11a/11b/11g/11n, Up to 450Mbps(5.0GHz) + 450Mbps(2.4GHz) Wireless Data Rates, PCI E Interface, 3 External Detachable Antennas

Pros: It connects to the internet and isn't slow. What more do you want?

Cons: N/A - it does exactly what it says on the tin.

Other Thoughts: Its a pretty boring component, get the cheapest one you can find that works. This one is cheap and works. Get it.

5 out of 5 eggsA Speed Test

This review is from: Rosewill RNX-N900PCE, Dual Band Wireless N900 Wi-Fi Adapter, IEEE 802.11a/11b/11g/11n, Up to 450Mbps(5.0GHz) + 450Mbps(2.4GHz) Wireless Data Rates, PCI E Interface, 3 External Detachable Antennas

Pros: I have had this card for a year, and it has worked fine on a PC that is dedicated to distributed computing projects (World Community Grid, Folding@home). Large files need to be transferred, and small ones too; it is on 24/7.

It has shown a constant 130 Mbps speed in the tray icon on the 802.11a band (5 GHz), and I was wondering if that meant anything. So I compared it to a Rosewill RNX-N600PCE PCIe card (2 antennas with 3 dB gain) also on the 5 GHz band. The N600 showed a 26 Mpbs speed during the test, but that varies from maybe 19 to 54 Mpbs over time. Both machines run Win7 64-bit, and showed 3 bars signal strength, and were about equal distance from the wireless access point.

I uploaded an Nvidia 340.52 driver file (273.56 MB) to both machines in sequence. The N900 card took 2 minutes 15 seconds, while the N600 card took 3 minutes 30 seconds. So in fact there was a speed difference, and the extra antenna may be worth it in some cases (both work fine for my purposes).

Cons: None, though I would like to see the longer 3 dB gain antennas on this card too. Whether they would do much good is another question.

1 out of 5 eggsDoesnt come with win 8 driver

This review is from: Rosewill RNX-N900PCE, Dual Band Wireless N900 Wi-Fi Adapter, IEEE 802.11a/11b/11g/11n, Up to 450Mbps(5.0GHz) + 450Mbps(2.4GHz) Wireless Data Rates, PCI E Interface, 3 External Detachable Antennas

Pros: I looks like a WIFI card. Has detailed instructions for Windows 7, Vista, and XP.

Cons: Bought a WIFI card that doesn't come with win 8 drivers. Need internet to DL the drivers -_-. If i had internet i wouldn't need your WIFI card. I grab the handy hard drive and head to a friends house to DL the driver. Typed the part number as its written on the CD and it doesn't come up. search through there huge history and finally found the windows 8.1 driver. downloaded the driver and it doesn't work. Now I have to go on a wild goose chase thru post and forums to get your product to work? 1 star sir. Last rant, windows XP! Vista! and finally 7!? i can understand 7 but XP?! and not have an updated driver for 8? IDK if that is just laziness or a lack of care with sending out quality products to your consumer. You got my money so touche to you. Hopefully other will read this comment before buying. You are not at 100% blame here. Windows 8 sucks and is the worst OS IMO.
