4 out of 5 eggsIt seems to work

This review is from: Rosewill RNX-AC600UB, Dual Band Wireless AC600 Wi-Fi Wi-Fi Adapter, IEEE 802.11AC IEEE802.11a/b/g/n, Up to 433Mbps(5.0GHz) + 150Mbps(2.4GHz) Wireless Data Rates, USB2.0 Interface, WPS for Easy Connect

Pros: Very attractive price. It's small. It works.

Cons: No online support that I can find - had to use the driver from the install CD. Documentation a bit weak. Deducted one egg for that.

Other Thoughts: Following the advice of others on here, I ignored the instructions and installed the drivers first and rebooted before ever inserting the adapter. It installed fine on my system from the start (Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit) with apparently no issues.

For large block transfers I get speeds ranging from 300-400 Mbps when in the same room as my AC router (ASUS RT-AC66R), and about 100-150 Mbps when on the other end of the house. Overall that's better than 5X the real-world performance that I was getting with my previous 801.11 n setup. Can't complain about that.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't waste your money/time

This review is from: Rosewill RNX-AC600UB, Dual Band Wireless AC600 Wi-Fi Wi-Fi Adapter, IEEE 802.11AC IEEE802.11a/b/g/n, Up to 433Mbps(5.0GHz) + 150Mbps(2.4GHz) Wireless Data Rates, USB2.0 Interface, WPS for Easy Connect

Pros: It's small, when it works it's relatively fast

Cons: Plugged device in, caused instant BSOD. Installed the drivers first, device worked relatively well for a little while but would constantly drop connection while other wireless clients had no issues. Now recently, device causes BSOD constantly even after multiple re-installs of the drivers/utility. No new drivers in 9+ months, and drivers aren't even under the device description on their website.

Other Thoughts: No updated drivers, the mere presence of it crashes the system. Buyer very much beware.

2 out of 5 eggsRosewill Link

This review is from: Rosewill RNX-AC600UB, Dual Band Wireless AC600 Wi-Fi Wi-Fi Adapter, IEEE 802.11AC IEEE802.11a/b/g/n, Up to 433Mbps(5.0GHz) + 150Mbps(2.4GHz) Wireless Data Rates, USB2.0 Interface, WPS for Easy Connect

Pros: Driver links from Rosewill don't exist

Cons: Seriously, driver links as provided by Rosewill aren't there. Really. Check it if you'd like. The one they give is:

http://www.rosewill.com/products/2702/ProductDetail_Download.htm

Do you see a link for software there? hmmm...

Other Thoughts: If we knew the REAL mfg, we could go there for drivers...

3 out of 5 eggsDecent hardware but lousy documentation

This review is from: Rosewill RNX-AC600UB, Dual Band Wireless AC600 Wi-Fi Wi-Fi Adapter, IEEE 802.11AC IEEE802.11a/b/g/n, Up to 433Mbps(5.0GHz) + 150Mbps(2.4GHz) Wireless Data Rates, USB2.0 Interface, WPS for Easy Connect

Pros: Stable connection and works fine with my Blackhawk router.

Cons: I foolish thought that I should follow the directions in the printed manual which said to insert the adapter first However, it crashed Windows 8.1 repeatedly.
Finally decided to do it the correct way when installing a USB device. - Install the software FIRST.

On the CD, In a font that is 10 pts or less, it gives you this suggestion.

2 out of 5 eggsIts ok

This review is from: Rosewill RNX-AC600UB, Dual Band Wireless AC600 Wi-Fi Wi-Fi Adapter, IEEE 802.11AC IEEE802.11a/b/g/n, Up to 433Mbps(5.0GHz) + 150Mbps(2.4GHz) Wireless Data Rates, USB2.0 Interface, WPS for Easy Connect

Pros: Dualband
AC

works fine

Cons: The main issue i have with this thing, is the software you need to use it, all other purchasers might want to check for this too.

Opening up the task manager after the computer has been on for a couple of hours and seeing an unusual amount of pagefile being used, and a severely increased handle count (>100000). checked the processes and the runSW.exe had a handle count of 80k, and it kept creeping up at about 20-50 per second.

uninstalling the software of course get sit to stop but then the adapter is entirely unusable.

this increase happens even if the adapter is plugged in or not.

obviously a software defect, thinking about just sending it back since i obviously cant leave the computer on with the software installed.

Happens on both of my computers, an acer aspire 7551g with win7 home prem Sp1 64bit and an i3 desktop with win7 pro sp1 64bit.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Little Adapter for an Old Computer

This review is from: Rosewill RNX-AC600UB, Dual Band Wireless AC600 Wi-Fi Wi-Fi Adapter, IEEE 802.11AC IEEE802.11a/b/g/n, Up to 433Mbps(5.0GHz) + 150Mbps(2.4GHz) Wireless Data Rates, USB2.0 Interface, WPS for Easy Connect

Pros: Small size. Ease (or lack of) installation required. Drivers for Win 8 on website, maybe even CD - but I went straight to the website for the newest download. Speed. Nice blue activity indicator light on the top. Low price.

Cons: None. Could it be smaller? Doubt it.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to extend the life a an old Dell E1705 after adding an AC cable modem/router. I stay within about 10 feet of the wifi router, so I cannot comment on range. It did immediately pick up speed up to 53.87Mps up and 12.14Mps down which is a vast improvement from single digits on the built in WiFi adapter. I gave it five eggs for all above including the very low price.

5 out of 5 eggsUseful AC adapter

This review is from: Rosewill RNX-AC600UB, Dual Band Wireless AC600 Wi-Fi Wi-Fi Adapter, IEEE 802.11AC IEEE802.11a/b/g/n, Up to 433Mbps(5.0GHz) + 150Mbps(2.4GHz) Wireless Data Rates, USB2.0 Interface, WPS for Easy Connect

Pros: This AC600 adapter really works.
Got this for upgrade my NB to 11ac speed.
In 5.0GHz, it's good. Although the speed is not good as AC1200 adapters but it's really faster than my N300 adapters, the speedtest shows it's around 50+Mbps even I didn't in the room with my routers. And 5GHz really provides stable Internet.
In 2.4GHz, the speed is just so so, just the same as my existing one. I think it's 150Mbps so the performance is OK. but the tiny size really works I don't need to take my big adapters for online game. And it really easy to setup and price is fair and service from Rosewill should be better.

Cons: The UI you can say it sample and really have some space to improve. But the functions are good.

This review is from: Rosewill RNX-AC600UB, Dual Band Wireless AC600 Wi-Fi Wi-Fi Adapter, IEEE 802.11AC IEEE802.11a/b/g/n, Up to 433Mbps(5.0GHz) + 150Mbps(2.4GHz) Wireless Data Rates, USB2.0 Interface, WPS for Easy Connect

Pros: Small size, speed if I could get it to work

Cons: software wouldn't install.

Other Thoughts: I don't want to send it back, but if I can't get the software installed I'll have to.

1 out of 5 eggsUnable to Install It in 2 Computers

This review is from: Rosewill RNX-AC600UB, Dual Band Wireless AC600 Wi-Fi Wi-Fi Adapter, IEEE 802.11AC IEEE802.11a/b/g/n, Up to 433Mbps(5.0GHz) + 150Mbps(2.4GHz) Wireless Data Rates, USB2.0 Interface, WPS for Easy Connect

Pros: Small size and promised high speeds.
Email was replied to within a day.

Cons: Could not get it to work in 2 computers: Windows 7 x64 and Windows 7 x86. Must be defective because the Wireless Configuration utility on the included disk does not install and the adapter is shown as disabled in network connections and cannot be enabled!

Other Thoughts: I will return it and get the always reliable Rosewill RNX-N180UB, Wireless Adapter
