Question 1

Hi, folks. Can I use this ENH500 to connect to a router and broadcast a signal to another building directly so users in that building can receive a WiFi signal from it? Or do I need another one in the other building? They are only about 100' apart.

It's possible, but unlikely considering the extra walls plus distance. You will probably find that the clients can see this access point but their own wifi radios are too weak to be heard by the access point. You really should get two of these plus a regular access point for inside the other building (I personally use and recommend an EnGenius EAP1200H for the indoor unit). If you have time, you may try a single ENH500, but be ready for it to not work well, you may need a second one

Question 2

do each ap have to be straight line of sight or can they be at a 90 degree angle. also how wide is broadcast area?

I wouldn't go any father than 45 degrees. I've implemented at that degree but any further I find loss in signal, especially if you have any interference.

What is the distance the bridge will cover?

I have these working for multiple clients up to around 300-400 feet with no problems.  These are line of sight. We had to remove trees, but the specifications say up to a mile.  I haven't seen a need to go that far, but I would probably use fiber optic for long runs like that.

Question 4

2 questions, new at bridge's.   Can this be used as a bridge as well as a outside access point at the same time, or is limited to one or the other?    and if i got the enh500, if i choose 5 ghz didnt work for me can it be ran at the 2.4 ghz?

It is best to use as bridge or access point. I have tried both but using both at the same time will cause system to freeze within a week. Both 5GHz and 2.4GHz can broadcast at the same time, you will get better speed with 5GHz but with less range. The 2.4GHz will penetrate obstacle better.

Question 5

I have been reviewing the specifications, my question is can I run 2 cameras via RJ-45 or just one?

Short answer, maybe. Long answer, depends on how you have your network configured.

If you setup one of these radios as a client bridge device, you will need to give the radio a static IP address in the same subnet you wish to run the cameras on. This method might work, if you keep everything on the same subnet, and give everything a static IP address.

If you set this radio up in WDS mode, the Ethernet ports on the radioscannot auto negotiate the network, as in, you will not get a DHCP address from your router. Again, setting this radio on a static IP address, as well as your cameras, and it will probably work.

Question 6

I'm looking to replace the EnGenius ECB8610S with this product.  Would this be an adequate replacement?  What is the range increase between the 5dBi (old AP) with this products 13dBi?

I'm currently using  two ENH500 units to link  2 sites that  are 0.5 miles away with a birds eye view,  if using for interior use i'd reccomend a EAP9550 it has more of a omni-directional pattern  and a nice smoke detector design ,  be sure to pick up a POE injector with it it's not supplied with one , but if you choose the ENH500 it's more of a  forward  broadcast without the external antenna  the enh500 does come with it's own POE injector do not use anything other than the injector  that comes withthe ENH500 long story short it will fry it  ... speaking from experience

Question 7

I have a problem with the 100Mbit/sec Network interface and the 300Mbit/sec wireless - I know my ISP is not that fast but serving files to other PCs from a base system will be hampered?

No, it should not be hampered.  Remember that 300 mbit is the maximum throughput rated, including overhead and that the channel is shared with any wireless device that is connected to the device.  I only use mine for back-haul from another ENH dual radio device into my main wired network. Current linkage to this device is 1:1 exclusively with the 700 on the hill, so I might not be the best case for testing your configuration.  I can access files from our server wirelessly from the 700, which is connected to my 500, which is connected to my hard-wired network.  Rates vary based the number of devices connected.  Windows can be a pain from a security standpoint and when sharing outside of a common domain...fyi.

Anybody know where to get a replacement for the POE (EPE-24R)? My POE went out and I can't find any information on a suitable replacement. I email the company and they have not responded.

The specs say Power Adapter (United States) 24V/1A.  I would suspect that any poe adapter would work.  NewEgg has the following, 
UBIQUITI POE-24 AC/DC Adaptor POE 24V 1A  for $22.99.

This should work for you.

Question 10

I have a 1Gig switch and a fat system with 2TB disks and a 1Gig LAN network port. When my LAN connection to a wireless access point  is 100M that device cannot go 300M because it will be throttled by the LAN connection. Is there another version of this device with a faster LAN interface?
