1 out of 5 eggsVery short Life Span

Pros: Worked OK while it did.

Cons: Maxxed at 2 MB/s when doing a file transfer.
DIED after 1 month use

Other Thoughts: Definitely no 'Encore' performance here.

4 out of 5 eggsReliable

Pros: Purchased in 5/09 for use on a Win Vista 32 bit Home Premium desktop for use in a room 30" away from the home's wireless internet router, a D-Link outputting a 802.11g signal.

During its daily use from that date until roughly 5/10, the family member who used the computer never complained about "slow or dropped" connections during "typical internet browsing" of news, Facebook, etc. (Including streaming Youtube video.)

Cons: None known

Other Thoughts: The unit was simply connected to the computer, with the driver disk being installed to allow it to function. No security settings, etc. were changed at the adapter's level.

On the router/networking side, all of the computers were part of the same workgroup and connection to the network (wired and wireless) required username/password via WPA.

The computer always had 4 or 5 bars of signal strength showing.

1 out of 5 eggsAvoid at all costs

Pros: Low price.

Cons: Unit cannot lock onto router only 60' away (with WPA enabled) through 2 uninsulated walls, yet a Macbook Pro in the same room pulls 5 bars. Disabled security & it worked for one day. Software installation also does not match what is in the user's manual - it never gives you the option to let Windows handle the wireless connection. Unit will be sent back & a different brand will be ordered to replace it.

Other Thoughts: Avoid this underpowered piece of junk at all costs - it isn't worth your time.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product

Pros: Great speed. Could not get 300Mbps with D-Link Xtreme N router, but still get 270Mbps consistently from 60' away through the wall. Works with Windows XP and Vista. Does not get hot. Low power consumption.

Cons: Wish it could give me full 300Mbps, but 270Mbps is fine, no big deal.

Other Thoughts: Download drivers from Ralink.

1 out of 5 eggsBad Customer Service

Pros: Worked for my vista laptop.

Cons: Did not work for my xp desktop (even though it is advertised). I called their company and the representative told me there was nothing I could do about it.

Other Thoughts: After reading some of these comments it is apparent that this company is notorious for terrible customer service.

Was about to buy more wireless adapters when I remembered this company has terrible service. Needless to say, they lost ALL of my business.

5 out of 5 eggsWireless adapter

Pros: Works like a champ. Plug-n-Play in Win 7 Home and Ultimate. Hooked up to a B/G router presently and I pull about 300 kps nominal, 400 if I push it. It is honestly slightly faster then the cable I had plugged in.

Cons: Little larger than I had hoped. Tight USB ports can be an issue. My case has well spaced top ports, so no problem here, however my HTPC has to use the included USB extender cable.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks fine in Windows Vista 64bit and Windows 7 64bit

Pros: Works on:
Windows XP 32 bit
Windows Vista 32/64 bit
Windows 7 64 bit----(Don't have Windows 7 32 bit so not sure but it should)

It works just as advertised and haven't had any issues with it. I've got this thing for about 2yrs now with my pc being ona bout 15hrs a day.

Cons: Can only connect at 270MB and not the advertised 300MB with my Dlink-655. Though I suspect its probably just my router that is the issue. I also get an occasional drop, though once again I think its my router as my other computer gets occasional drops as well and it has a different wireless adapter.

Other Thoughts: Not sure what one of the reviewers were saying about that it didn't work for him in Windows 7 64 bit. I have the Ultimate edition of Windows 7 and it auto installed the driver for me. Though I did find that installing the newest drivers would disconnect me more frequently so I rolled back to the default drivers installed by the OS which is more stable for me. What most people don't realize is that if a piece of hardware like a video card, wireless adapter, sound card, etc. says its compatible with a certain operating system it is. If it doesn't work on your pc, its actually your computer hardware (motherboard) that its not compatible with. So if this wireless adapter doesn't work for you, it doesn't mean it doesn't mean its not compatible with the operating system you are using, its not compatible with your hardware.
