The Encore’s ENUWI-N4 Wireless N150 Mini USB Adapter is a high performance 802.11n wireless adapter. It is backward compatible with the older 802.11b and 80.2.11g wireless devices. A small mini dongle in size with only 33mm long and 7mm thick, it is almost invisible when connected to a notebook computer and giving you more space surrounding your laptop. The ENUWI-N4 mini size but powerful wireless device gives more flexibility even to the active and busy power users. In spite of its tiny size it gives an amazing data rate speed of up to 150 Mbps, few dead-spots and wider range. It is backed with the latest push button wireless security for easy wireless connection.

Using Encore's ENUWI-N4 Wireless N150 Mini USB Adapter provides an excellent wireless connection performance and a very cost-effective solution for doing media-centric activities such as streaming video, gaming, and enhanced QoS (WMM) without any reduction in performance. It extends 3 times network coverage and power and boosts 6 times transmission throughput than the existing 802.11g wireless products. Advanced power management and low power consumption is among the main feature of ENUWI-N4.

  • newegg 802.11n Support Compliant with 802.11n, the ENCORE ENUWI-N4 delivers wireless speed up to 150Mbps and remains backward compatible with 802.11g and 802.11b wireless networks. The greater bandwidth meets the demand of bandwidth-intensive applications, such as HD video streaming, large file downloading and online gaming.
  • newegg Improved Wireless Reception The ENCORE ENUWI-N4 features MIMO technology which uses multiple radios to create a robust signal and reduces dead spots to deliver high speed performance and great coverage.
  • newegg WMM based on QoS Wi-Fi Multimedia (WMM) adds managed QoS (Quality of Service) for Wi-Fi networks that improve the user experience for audio, video, and voice applications by prioritizing data traffic.
  • newegg High Security The ENCORE ENUWI-N4 supports WEP, WPA and WPA2 standards for use of the available supreme encryption to ensure the network security.

2 out of 5 eggsGet Something Better

Pros: Pretty decent connection when it worked. The price was definitely a good selling point as well.

Cons: My connection was dropped at random. Did not seem to work with some types of wireless encryption (WPA2 Enterprise). It eventually just stopped working all together. Very frustrating.

Does not work with Linux.

Other Thoughts: I got it because I wanted a quick, cheap, fix for my laptop (its internal wireless died) before finally got around to buying a new laptop. Overall, this just let me know that I should just get the new laptop rather than try to keep the old one on life support.

2 out of 5 eggsBarely worth it

Pros: Works, but with reservations/issues.

Cons: Complicated to install.
Instructions assume a few things.
Once working, it stopped working again.

Other Thoughts: I got this for a wireless NIC in a laptop that I "thought" was having issues. It was a pain to install, then quickly stopped working such that I had to do something to get it working again (I forget what, now).

3 out of 5 eggsGetting This Thing To Work.

Pros: Good Connection Speed. Good Range. Only Used With Windows XP. Install Disc Came With Adobe Acrobat Reader 8.1 (if you didn't install acrobat reader yet).

Cons: It took a while to get it to work. You need to plug in the device and then load the driver. Then (probably only in XP) you need to configure your connection to let windows manage your wireless connection. Then it works good.

Other Thoughts: Kinda a pain to have to check the box every time I use it to let windows manage my wireless connection.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks with MAC

Pros: Tiny - fits in your bag or pocket easily - there for when its needed

Good signal for such a small device. Awesome for $7!

Hoping to use this as a backup to my Airport card as it sometimes will not connect to a badly setup WEP network - especially if the key is in Chinese or other non-ASCI 7 characters, etc.

Cons: No 5Ghz support - just 2.4Ghz but does support WPA2 PSK AES without loss of speed.

Other Thoughts: The drivers that come with this thing do not work with OSX 10.7 Lion. Nor do the latest drivers (version 1.7.1) on the Encore website which as of today are the exact same ones on the CD.

To get this to work, uninstall the 10.6 driver if you installed it from the CD. (Use the uninstaller script). Then download the latest drivers (version 1.9.1 at the time of writing this) from the Realtek site. Search for RTL8191SU MAC drivers.

4 out of 5 eggsCheap, no problems

Pros: This is cheap and a nice change from my old pci card. Works with 32 bit windows 7 and vista. Working well for over a year.

Cons: When I boot up it will connect to network then disconnect and require me to reconnect, not a huge problem. Also light is a little bright so I plug it in back.

Other Thoughts: Signal strength isnt great but works most of the time from up stairs and thru a wall

3 out of 5 eggsDoes Not Work With Ubuntu

Pros: Works on XP perfectly, without even needing to install included software.
Inexpensive

Cons: Included software is obtrusive, and creates a task-bar icon.
