The ENCORE ENEWI-2XN45 Wireless N300 PCI-E Adapter is fully compliant with IEEE 802.11n 2.0 specification; it allows users to connect to 802.11n wireless networks up to 300 Mbps. It is also backward-compatible with IEEE 802.11b/g wireless network at 11/54 Mbps respectively. This PCI-E adapter includes convenient utility software for scanning available wireless networks and an option to save profiles of preferred networks at user’s choice. Configurable wireless security and encryption software are also included.

Wireless-N The ENCORE ENEWI-2XN45 Wireless Adapter is a draft IEEE 802.11n 2.0 compliant device that delivers up to 6X faster speed than standard 802.11g devices, with up to 300 Mbps transfer speed. It has two 5dBi dipole antennas and supports 2x2 Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output Technology for extended reception, robustness and exceptional throughput, and is backward compatible with 802.11g and 802.11b networks.
Advanced Features The Wireless N300 PCI-E adapter allows you to save profiles of your preferred networks. The included encryption software protects your data, while the utility software help you scan available wireless networks. And, it features GreenWLAN for optimum energy efficiency with smart power management.

Cons: Regardless of what signal power the card reports having, it will not connect, refuses connection to even a phone sitting next to it, an access point in the next room, etc. No matter what it will not connect to anything for more than a second. Other Thoughts: I purchased two because I wanted to rig some home networking, and they were cheap. At first they would connect, but just barely. They would frequently disconnect and reconnect. Constant speeds, works great with online games Cons: Didn't have enough money for anything with higher signals. My mobo's PCIe 1x slot is first generation, but it doesn't seem to hurt the quality from other people that have gotten it. They sent me my second one when the first one DIDN'T WORK OUT OF THE BOX. Cons: Terrible. The first one I installed in a new system I was building prevented it from booting. The second one went in an older PC with a working wireless card, and caused the system to slow to the speed of sludge. I mean like 3 minutes to open a text file. Last night I removed the card and uninstalled the Encore drivers - and voilà. System is humming away as it should be. Except now I don't have internet access... ah, the fun never stops. Cons: After the first couple months it would no longer get good speeds. Everyday the speeds I get from this adapter very wildly. Although, even on a good day it isn't very good. I have been testing it recently and I get between 0.2Mbps and 8 Mbps. It rapidly changes between these speeds and rarely stays at the higher range. I am only about 30-40 feet away from my router. Laptops in my house that are about 100+ feet away from the router have no problem. I currently have a 6 year old laptop passing internet through via ethernet to my desktop and I am getting speeds of about 16-20Mbps. I can not stream videos at 720p with this adapter at all. When it is bad I can not stream youtube videos at 360p. I have updated the drivers, moved the antennae, and even changed the pci-e port that it is connected to. I reinstalled windows while using this adapter, but that had no effect. I have tried it with different routers and tethered to my phone, after about 20 feet speeds rapidly drop. 0 out of 1 people found this review helpful. Did you? Cons: The antennas get in the way of graphics card ports, but not really much of an annoyance. Other Thoughts: Had it in an old dell dimension for about 8 months, and it would occasionally have poor signal or no signal at all (would only do this every other month of pretty heavy use). Reseating the card fixed that. In my gaming rig, I haven't had any problems, so I'm not sure if the card is picky, or dell's motherboard was. 3 out of 3 people found this review helpful. Did you?
