5 out of 5 eggsSolid wireless card

Pros: Bought this for a friend that did not want to run a 75ft cable around the house. It was easy to walk them though setup and has been reliable.

Cons: none, just works.

Other Thoughts: Vista seems to cause disconnects as it resyncs/scans wireless networks. There is work arounds for this but it is annoying.

1 out of 5 eggsJunk never worked

Pros: None

Cons: If not working at all is what you'd like to see from a wifi card, then this is the one for you.

1 out of 5 eggsLasted a Couple Weeks, Sort of ..

Pros: Didn't install too hard. Doesn't really fit well, as others have mentioned, but i went in.
Nice antenna length.
When it worked, good speed with either of my mentioned routers. Even worked without antenna when near (~<15')
Another exercise in installing and un-installing hardware. - Just what I need (not).

Cons: Wouldn't hold a connection after about a week. - Endless "Disconnected" , "Connecting", "Connected" messages - connected for about 5 seconds. (max)
It's dropped by Newegg, so not going to bother with an RMA dance. - Another $20 down the toilet.
Not even an interesting paper-weight.

Other Thoughts: Location didn't matter. Inches or feet from the antennas on my routers - showed great signal strength in all cases. (Meanwhile, a laptop maintained a connection in the next room.) Router irrelevant: old workhorse, stock linksys wrt54gl (Great Unit! - goes months without a reboot) or newer 'Tomatoed' Asus520gu - swapped; no difference.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

We are sorry for the difficulty you are experiencing.
We appreciate your feedback and would like to help you solve the problem.
Usually a repeately connect/disconnect behavior is caused by incorrect WPA preshare key. The wireless card tried to connect, the wireless router disconnect it, then the wireless card tried to connect again.
We are not sure about your Windows OS. You might have a wireless profile in Windows and another wireless profile in Edimax Wireless utility. You may want to check them out.
Please feel free to contact our tech support at 408-496-1105 or write an email to " support@edimax.us ".
We look forward to the opportunity to serve you.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks with Windows 7 64bit

Pros: Works perfectly
Very long cord (sometimes a hassle)
Drivers were easy to find
Installing it was simple

Cons: It didn't fit a smoothly as i wanted it to. This is mostly likely due to my cheap motherboard and case.

1 out of 5 eggsSpeed PLUMMETS after a while

Pros: Cheap. Detachable antenna.

Cons: After start up, the product works for a while. The length of time varies.

Then, the receive speed suddenly plummets from 55 Mbps to 5 Mbps and does not recover. This affects internet performance as well as network performance.

You are able to view the speed using the supplied software network manager.

The only way to correct it is to "Repair" the connection (XP) or "Activate" the profile in the supplied network manager (Windows 7).

Other Thoughts: I would NOT recommend this card to anyone.

My router is a WRT54GL with dd-wrt. I have the latest drivers installed and tested with XP and Windows 7. I even tried it with older drivers and got the same result. I changed the transfer speed from "Auto" to "55 Mbps" with same result.

This card is the same hardware as the Rosewill RNX-G300EX.

5 out of 5 eggsA Good Choice

Pros: -Easy Setup
-Strong signal, never loses a connection
-Plays nice with my still kicking WRT54G
-Cheap

Cons: -None, this was a perfect solution and it was dirt cheap when purchased.

Other Thoughts: This card works, my girly friend uses the same card.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat While it Worked

Pros: Best PCI card that I tried...while it worked.

Cons: After 9 months, it loses its connection very often.

Other Thoughts: I don't mind spending extra cash; why can't someone make a reliable network card?

4 out of 5 eggsGood consumer card

Pros: The antenna cable is decently long. Range and speed are good.

Comes with some nice utilities that allow it to function as an AP.

Cons: Does not support packet injection/monitor/promiscuous modes. Would give 5 eggs if it did (my previous EDIMAX adapter had a great chip).

Other Thoughts: Sometimes I have to repair the connection (maybe once a week), but I suspect it's my university's AP's or kludgy WiFi login system.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Easy install, easy setup, works well in all wireless environments I've tried it in.

Cons: In a small space, the long antenna wire can be a hassle. Antenna not very visually pleasing, if that's an issue for you.

Other Thoughts: Fairly idiot proof, this is the second one I've purchased, and it just works, no hassle.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Excellent

Pros: Works great! Running Windows 7 64 ultimate and was recognized and setup within 5 min. I am going through about 4 walls and am still getting a 4/5 bar signal and can stream videos just fine. This card was $20 cheaper than the one i bought in F.R.Y.s electronics and works ALOT better. I have no complaints about the card, and like the fact that there is an extra antenna to position where you need for better signal. Would recommend for anyone who needs a wireless card for their desktop.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: Probably the best $20 investment i've made in my computer
