Sometimes works
- Pros: It works with my BT headset.
It has a blue blinkenlight that glows when the device is connected and blinks when it's active.
Not long, not wide.
- Cons: Thicker than a normal USB plug on one side, which becomes a minor inconvenience if you want to plug something next to it.
The driver software uses the Windows' "Language for Non-Unicode Programs" setting instead of user input to determine which language to install in, which may cause problems in systems with Cyrillic and possibly other non-English language settings, such as replacing all the words with an incomprehensible jumble of mis-decoded characters. (Looks like this: "˜½Ñ‚°»»¸€¾²°‚Œ? ”° / е‚")
Every once in a while, it malfunctions with random effects ranging from a temporary malfunction (having to stop and re-connect the device to re-establish connection) to PERMANENT LOSS OF SOUND UNTIL SOFTWARE IS UN-INSTALLED. (Rebooting does not solve this problem.) As you can imagine, the latter can be quite irritating.
No obvious way to disable the eyesore of a BT system tray icon when the device is not active.
- Other Thoughts: I'm too lazy to return or exchange this because it works sometimes, but I will lean away from this brand in the future. I do not recommend this product.
Don't Buy
- Pros: Good for computer users that like invasive software.
- Cons: Device is not plug and play. the device requires that both the software and drivers be installed in order to run. Software installs a permanent bluetooth icon on the desktop. Also overwrites all windows bluetooth software that comes with the OS.
- Other Thoughts: Its works perfectly with the invasive software.
Drops out audio
- Pros: Range is good.
- Cons: Included software doesn't work. Difficult to uninstall without hanging machine. 186 Mb download to get software update if and when download site works. Makes XP machine very unstable requiring frequent reboot due to hangs or to pegged CPU meter. Useless for wireless stereo (A2DP) due to software caused drop out every ten seconds or so on an unloaded 1.8 gHz Turion.
- Other Thoughts: Might be useful for other things but not for wireless audio. Will be seeking refund. Can't believe they dared shipped this thing as an A2DP device. I thought ASUS was credible but now have second thoughts.
