5 out of 5 eggsIncredibly useful

Pros: Small. Easy setup with decent feature access. Reasonable performance given the price and size. Inexpensive.

Cons: Wasn't free... Could be faster.

Other Thoughts: Bought to use as a backup/travel device. Serving quite well as such (Time Capsule died tonight forcing use of Asus WL-330gE as a router) and given the price, nobody should be without one or its successor - the WL-330N3G.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product

Pros: It took less than a minute to config it to Ethernet adapter mode to be used with my security camera. Now I can set my camera any place inside the house.

Cons: One rebate per address, household.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat but Wifi adapter is a bit weak

Pros: It has 4 modes including using it as a hot spot.
Very small and portable; about the length and width of a credit card.
It comes with a USB adapter to power it if no AC is available.
Setup is very easy. Even if you are not a whiz with networks, the interface will help you through the process.
Rebate: ASUS rebates are about a reliable as a MIR will ever get. I consider ASUS rebates as good as cash- I won't do that with any other manufacturer. Complete the online registration and mail the provided form. I always get my rebate in less than 2 weeks using the no wait method.

Cons: I've tried it in several modes. My only gripe is that in wireless adapter mode it does not pick up signals as well as my other adapters. Despite this, I can't take a whole egg off for the infraction.

Other Thoughts: I'm using it as a access point and I couldn't be more pleased. It's perfect!
ASUS's rebate processing and manufacturing quality keeps me coming back. In some cases, it's the only brand I will consider.
One question: how do they pack all that capability is such a small unit- it's amazing!

1 out of 5 eggsbe careful with asus rebate

Pros: cheap after rebate

Cons: wifi range is shorter than most regular routers.

Asus rebate was slow, but now it's worse, you won't receive the rebate even you did everything required by the rebate form.

Other Thoughts: I won't recommend it product.

Manufacturer Response:

4 out of 5 eggskbm

Pros: Small and compact size. Easily fits into my computer case for carrying purposes. Good range, covered entire house (two story with basement) and both front and back porch areas.

Cons: Setting up laptops can be a headache. Requires a little computer and network skills to set up. Just not set up ready out the box.

Other Thoughts: Once working its worth the money. Only gave four stars due to set up concerns.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Little Router

Pros: I purchased this when it was very cheap after a rebate. Rebate came very quick. Router is a nice little travel router which is what I use it for. Signal is about as strong as larger routers which surprised me. I use this when I travel so I don't need to manually config my various wireless devices to associate with a new AP. Also it is great for sharing a paid for connection at hotels that charge you per MAC address. I can now run a half dozen devices behind this router and pay for only one.

Cons: Can be complicated to setup if you are not familiar with network working concepts but that is essentially inherent in a product like this that can be used many different ways.

Other Thoughts: Before you do ANYTHING change the routers IP and DHCP range to be something other than 192.168.1.0/24. This is one of the most commonly used subnets and you will have all kinds of issues if you hang this off of a network that is using the same subnet. Pick something in the 10.x.x.x range.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect product

Pros: Super simple. Exactly what was needed to wirelessly connect my Sony blu-ray player. Never had a single issue with is in nearly a years use.

Cons: A little annoying it takes up an AC outlet to power it. Just another item plugged in behind the TV. Minor complaint.

Other Thoughts: Overall this is a great product. Performs exactly as I hoped. I can stream Netflix without any hassle, which was all I really needed. Added bonus is updates to the player can now be done as well as online content of blu-ray movies.

3 out of 5 eggsVery strong when working

Pros: Using mainly for wireless bridge. When it is working it has a very strong signal for its size. It's also easy to configure.

Cons: If it is turned off, about half the time it will not connect to wireless network again unless it is reset.

Other Thoughts: Looks like new firmware is available. Maybe that will fix it.

4 out of 5 eggsEthernet Adapter Mode requires firmware change

Pros: Works OK after a firmware downgrade.

Cons: The Ethernet Adapter mode does not work out of the box. The symptom is that the device doesn't see any networks. It turns out that the newest firmware, 2.0.1.9, does not work. You need to get the 2.0.1.8 firmware from the ASUS website and install it on the WL-330gE. Ethernet Adapter mode works fine after that.

Other Thoughts: ASUS customer service didn't have a clue what was wrong. They first tried blaming my computer and eventually said that I received a defective unit. If I listened to them, I would be in an endless loop of returning supposedly defective units.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We are sorry that you have experienced issues with firmware 2.0.1.9. Please try the newest firmware 2.0.2.0. If you experience any further issues or have any feedback about the firmware, please contact us at Networking_support@asus.com .

Best regards,

Asus Networking Support
