Manufacturer Limited Warranty period (parts): 3 years
Manufacturer Limited Warranty period (labor): 3 years
Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: Gigabit wired ports, 300 Mbps wireless N connection, Asus name
Cons: The router looses connection to my Internet provider, Cablevison, on a regular bases. Can take hours to establish the connection with no set method. Each time is a new adventure. After being idle overnight, webpages will be slow to load until a reboot of the router. Also, connecting to the admin page has a noticeable lag to it. Admin page is also slow to load and sluggish to navigate.
Other Thoughts: Thought I was playing it safe by purchasing this router with the name Asus on it, but the router has turned out to be a big disappointment. The newest firmware, 2.0.1.9 hasn't helped.

Died After A Couple Months

Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: Gigabit ethernet, wireless N, reasonably priced. Fast and stable when it was working.
Cons: The ethernet ports on the first unit I received were dead. Not a big deal, it happens. I RMA'd it and received a brand new, fully functional router.
After a couple months of stable use the WAN port on the replacement unit has died.
Other Thoughts: After 1 DOA and 1 failure I'm starting to suspect that there's a problem with whatever hardware ASUS is using in these. I'd stay away.

Pros: when it works it's okay. seems to transfer at full gigabit rates. has lots of settings, most of which work. easy to port forward, has list of popular ports.
Cons: this thing is a pain in the behind. It'll work fine for anywhere from a few days to a few months, then for no reason at all, it'll screw up everyone's internet connection that's on it. Going to a webpage results in a redirect to the router's page, saying "set wrong static IP for this device" or something. Which has nothing to do with the problem, beings we aren't on a static IP, didn't setup a static IP, and none of the clients are static IPs.
I've had nightmares getting rid of this problem at times. I usually end up having to reset it back to factory defaults, loosing tons of settings that I have to go back and resetup, and sometimes even that doesn't fix it.
There is no logic to what makes it work/not work, it's all guesswork and luck. And don't even think about trying to get it working again without powering things up in the right order--router then modem--, and giving it like five minutes to sit there idle before firing the modem.
Other Thoughts: Spending anywhere from a few hours to a couple days goofing around with this router to try to get the internet to work again after it goes out for no reason, is just too much time wasted to give it any better of a rating.
You'd think for the price, being in the higher end of the spectrum, they could produce something that works decent. If I had known this I would have spent my money on one of the other brand's higher end routers.
