3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Nice design. Pretty easy setup, as long as you have worked with other access points/repeaters.

Cons: Instruction booklet is incomplete, lacking instructions for some setup options. I had to update the firmware as soon as I received it. Not the best of wifi extenders.

3 out of 5 eggsWhen it works, its fine

Pros: I have 2 of these in the house, along with 3 other access points. These were cheap, so figured I'd give them a shot. When they stay online, they're fine. But they disappear from both the physical LAN as well as their SSIDs vanish occasionally. They need to be unplugged to get them back to life. Then they're fine until they vanish again.

Tried new firmware, but they still vanish. Other than their vanishing act, they work.

Cons: They disappear from the hard lan and the wireless network.

2 out of 5 eggsNothing special

Pros: Small, quick : 300 mbps, 3 functions ...

Cons: Overheating itself, stop working, network problem when 3 computers connected ... Amen

Other Thoughts: If you really looking for good network AP - stop saving money. Don't take a shortcut as I did - BTW I didn't expect it is so small. For last month I was blaming AT&T for bad internet = after tests - this unit. I do not recommend.

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad but Limited...

Pros: Does it job.. and not too bad of a price, easy to configure..(because its so limited..)

Cons: Its limited which makes this not as good as it could have been.. It can only go on the channel your router is on,so if you are using channel 10 this also must use channel 10 which hurt the performance value of it by conflicting signals.

Another thing i found annoying about this if if you wanted to take a signal in from a 2.4ghz router and then repeat it as a 5ghz signal you cant, you can only repeat it as the frequency you chose to listen on. And you can only do 1 or the other not both..

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: Once I got started, it was real easy to set up

Cons: No easy to find information about how to get started.

Other Thoughts: I spent about an hour trying to get set up, until I was walked through by another owner. Here's what I had to do:
1. Plug the pyramid in and connect with the ethernet cable to your computer.
1a. Disconnect from your current network, if Wifi. I had to otherwise the config site wouldn't load.
2. Go to 10.0.1.1 in your browser. The url in the directions didn't load anything, even after waiting about a half hour.
3. Follow the setup instructions
4. You're done.

5 out of 5 eggsFlies!

Pros: Installs easily.
Good RF coverage.
No hiccups.

Cons: Refurb unit comes without install disk and manual. Not a real con, as once you attach lan cable to PC the setup screen pops up. Screen is intuitive, but download manual first so you know what you're doing.

It is dual band, but only one band at a time, which you select during setup.

Other Thoughts: I am using this as a 5GHz repeater. Before I installed this unit my 5GHz WiFi from the living room had unusable signal strength in the bedroom. With the repeater located in the hallway I get a strong signal in the bedroom which I use with an androy phone and a PC.

5 out of 5 eggsworking good.

Pros: Looks sleek and the price is right.

I bought one about 6 months ago and it's still going strong. Once I got it up and running it's been going non-stop ever since without any issue whatsoever.

I just bought a second one and it's working just fine.

Cons: Installed firmware was buggy. Updating it makes it much much better.

The instructions on how to get in and administer this device do not work. (see my other comments)

Other Thoughts: This devices defaults to 10.0.0.1 as it's IP, and as embarrassing as this is, it took me FOREVER to find it on my network when I first installed it. To make a long story short, I had to use an Asus discovery tool to find it. Leave it to Asus to try and be different and use that IP as its default, instead of the standard 192.168.X.X.

Maybe that's why this device was returned and now sold as refurbished. The first owner probably couldn't figure out how to get into it and administer it. The included instructions are not helpful, period.

4 out of 5 eggsGood device

Pros: Gigabit, easy config

Cons: older firmware has some bugs, but they are fixed with the newest version

Other Thoughts: I bought this to connect a few computers that were upstairs to my rt-n56u in the basement. Works great, I have the wired side connected to a gigabit switch and all the machines get the dhcp relay and act like they are connected with a wire. I am getting 280MB real world speed, which I am really happy with.
