5 out of 5 eggs  Great little card

Pros: Instant recognition by the Linux kernel of my Sophos firwall. Plug and play. Very inexpensive

Cons: None yet

Other Thoughts: This card works well. The chipset is Realtek 8111.

2 out of 5 eggsBought for VMWare

Pros: None as of yet for me. If I was using it in a non VMWare environment or in an older version ESXi it should work fine.

Cons: Not VMWare compatible after ESXi 5.5. It was depreciated. So if you're looking for VMWare compatibility for 5.5, don't get this card.

Other Thoughts: I had recently built a new PC and bought this card for my old hardware in hopes of turning it into a VM box. The Onboard LAN of my motherboard wasn't supported by VMWare, so I got this. To my surprise VMWare recognized my onboard fine, but not this card.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

Please note that this is due to the chipset limitation.

RTL8111E does not support a VMware environment and there are still troubleshooting options for an ESXi environment.

Thank you for purchasing one of our products, and for leaving us your valuable feedback.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: fairly cheap and fast.

Ran flawlessly out of the box on Ubuntu 13.10
It has two Ethernet ports which both have different IP's.

Cons: Does not support Teaming, bonding, Failover, or any other dual port technology-

My computer: Gigabyte Z87X-D3H with intel i7-4770K would not boot when the integrated Intel NIC and this card Sy-PEX24028 were both enabled.

Other Thoughts: Using it with a private network. Too bad the computer wouldn't boot with the integrated Intel NIC--would love to be able to use the another port.

1 out of 5 eggsIncompatible

Pros: Cost effective dual ethernet.

Cons: This works fine with any board but the Gigabyte A85x and A88x chipsets.

Windows 7 and Linux both do not see the card on the PCIE bus.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

This may be due to a limitation by the chipset.

Please ensure that your motherboard/BIOS is up-to-date and that any system updates have been applied.

You may also need to manually install the drivers to ensure optimal results.

Thank you for purchasing on of our products, and for leaving us your valuable feedback.

3 out of 5 eggsDecent cheap card for Windows

Pros: Inexpensive dual port gbit card. Works fine in Windows.

Cons: Cards are detected under ESXi 5.1 and below, but will fail if you extend the MTU beyond 4096 bytes. VMware has since dropped this chipset from the official release as of 5.5. Cards will work fine with 1500 byte MTU, but cannot handle jumbo frames.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

We understand that at times the chipset for our cards can cause compatibility issues with

certain systems and devices. We encourage you to check the chipset for these cards to

determine if they are compatible with your system.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great with Hyper V

Pros: You can have 2 additional NIC connection through HyperV server.

Cons: Make sure you have a newer driver. Although HyperV recognize the card. But, it put in driver dated back in 2011. You need to update your NIC driver to at least something in 2012 period. Otherwise you will experience very sluggish connection and drops off.

Other Thoughts: If you don't want to spend over $200 for a 4 port NiC. This will be a good substitute for that until you are sure you want to upgrade to a higher end NIC.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: The Ethernet port on my Asus MB stopped working. I installed this card in the PCIe_x1 slot right next to the PCIe_x16 slot which had the video card. Upon rebooting, the monitor showed a "no video signal" error message. After removing and reinstalling the SYBA card, the computer booted with no problems. Installation is a snap and with a noticable increase in speed over the old E-connection! Don't really need the extra E-connection now, but having a spare is a plus.

Cons: None so far.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great in production Linux Server

Pros: Works great and inexpensive. Had a hardware failure. Ordered this card express from Newegg. Plugged it in and it worked with Ubuntu with zero problems. Total repair time was under 5 minutes, including shutdown and reboot.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I needed this board in an emergency, so I ordered it and stuffed it into a production Linux Ubuntu server. Total down time was under 3 minutes. Shut server down, zipped card into the unit, and rebooted. Zero pain, has higher throughput than the old card too!
