1 out of 5 eggsporting nightmare

Pros: It is simply.

Cons: voip companies "ring.to" and "future-nine" refuse to work together to get it done.

Other Thoughts: "ring.to" make you pay up front for e911 but is dropping the ball on this.

5 out of 5 eggs2 years and NO PHONE BILLS

Pros: Write down password use obi seems to be a real bear to give up your old one if you "misplace" it. Been over 2 years and have had NO Phone bills at all since then. Google Voice has worked flawlessly and you can even txt cell phones with it Also, with Voice you can choose to have calls and text voice called to connect you. Love calling back someone with no dialing.. but voice is ending and will have to get a OBI proved phone service soon. that is only $39,99 a year and that will not be to steep but worse than free,.

Cons: Google voice will not remain free. :-(

Other Thoughts: Really have not paid even 1 cent for phone service since I got this. How much have you paid? Add it up. X2+ years. Obi has been impressive over this time. Going to be real sad when Voice ends. Almost as sad that I will lose the texting ability when it ends. Google + Obi has saved me a pile of money with better service than any telco I have ever had!

1 out of 5 eggsno more google voice

Pros: loved it but..all good thigs must end.

Cons: oogle Voice: Not Supported on OBi Devices After May 15, 2014

Back at the end of October, Obihai announced Google would end its support for the XMPP communication protocol. This announcement came on the heels of Google's announcement that as of May 15th, XMPP would no longer be supported for third-party VoIP applications. The Google Voice service uses XMPP to connect the OBi to the service. With that, after May 15th Obihai will no longer support the Google Voice service on its OBi devices. More Info

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent for DOY VoIP

Pros: * Low cost
* Very good voice quality
* Not tied to a specific VoIP provider
* Remote web management at obitalk.com
* Supports two VoIP service providers
* Supports softphones

Cons: * White plastic shows some discoloring after a year. Black or dark gray plastic would last longer.

Other Thoughts: Used the Obi100 with Google Voice for over a year with excellent results. It is very reliable and voice quality is about as good as landlines (assuming a stable Internet connection).

Due to GV discontinuing XMPP in May, I switched to Callcentric and Localphone. Callcentric has free DIDs in NY with free incoming calls. Localphone has low rates for outgoing calls on a pay per call basis. The GV DID can be forwarded to Callcentric so yo don't have to change numbers.

Having two service providers gives you the flexibility of having one for incoming calls and one for outgoing calls. You could also receive calls from both providers, although with a single phone jack you can't answer both calls simultaneously.

Many VoIP providers support the Obihai adapters without a fixed monthly fee that are very economical for low outgoing call volumes. If you make a lot of outgoing calls, a yearly plan such as Vestalink or Anveo may be justifiable.

5 out of 5 eggsLow Cost Internet VOIP

Pros: inexpensive cost up front
low monthly cost (if you select the correct VOIP service)

Cons: Not exactly plug and play technology
Google Voice will not work after May 15, 2014

Other Thoughts: I have used Phone Power for several years. I purchased this device a few months ago and planned to switch over to Google Voice when my 2-year Phone Power contract ran out. However, Google Voice just announced that it will stop supporting OBi on May 15, 2014. Luckily, I just found a new VOIP provider, Vestalink a/k/a Intelafone, which works with OBi. While it's not free like Google Voice, the cost is only $30-$40 per YEAR, depending on the plan you select. This includes unlimited calls and E911, and there are NO taxes or fees or surcharges. Ooma, in contrast, costs $5.00 per month just in fees, taxes and surcharges. As a result, this device ends up providing phone service cheaper than Ooma, Phone Power or almost any other VOIP out there. Call clearity on the OBi is good. You can use an App on your smart phone to access the OBi voice mail. Also, you can use the App to make phone calls on your smart phone when you have WiFi access (if you want to preserve your wireless minutes).

4 out of 5 eggsGoogle Voice compatible

Pros: I've been using this unit for over two years, thanks to the seamless integration with Google voice number (incoming and outgoing calls).
We've learned a few months ago that Google will drop XMPP support, protocol that Obi uses to connect GV to this device, so, ObiTalk will just become another VoIP SIP product...

Cons: Added value highly dependent on Google Voice integration, that's a con because google will drop the protocol that enables calls through Obi in May 2014.. So... unless there is a free workaround it's kinda useless for me.

Other Thoughts: Great device that knows how to integrate the best of VoIP: Provides it's own network so each device can communicate with other Obi Devices without setting any account, and compatibility with Google Voice and regular SIP providers.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: non

Cons: Google Voice does not support anymore. Google gmail account does not support Google chat forwarding. Unless your account was set up to Google chat forwarding awhile ago (in 2013) . try to find and install Google Talk., it May help
to change Google Voice to Google chat forwarding option appears in your setting,.but that only my thought.

1 out of 5 eggsGreat when it works....

Pros: Greta product when it works ...

Cons: In my case, I must have gotten a LEMON! From day one, I have been having multiple problems. My unit gets hot and then it drops connection. Technical "support" and customer "service" are a joke!
